I'm still loving this, too! Sometimes I leave out the chicken, and just have 3 cups of cabbage with 2 Laughing cows (always 2) for only about 110 calories. It's surprisingly filling no matter how you make it! i don't seem to have tummy issues at all with the cabbage. It's onions I have to watch out for!

I look forward to this too. I never worry about going hungry on DD when I have the stuff to make this.

I usually never have the cheese in it, just whatever low calorie proteins, and the fried veggies & seasonings.

This is a very versatile recipe and can use any combinations of veggies, seasonings, proteins.

This recipe sounds great! I am a newbie, haven't even started JUDDD yet, just gathering some good recipes. I did two round of hcg last year, from March through end of July, with a long break in between. Lost to goal weight. Then, from August through now, I have gained all the weight back, not because of eating anything wrong. I still eat P3, paleo style. I'm not sure what is going on but I gain weight, 2-3 lbs with each TOM and then, the weight doesn't drop back off (like it does with water weight on TOM). So, with each cycle I've gained and then, sometimes I have tried losing it with correction days or fruit flushes or whatever and if I lose it, it just comes right back on that same week. So, I think some how hcg messed me up hormonally. Although I have to say I still have perfect 28-day cycles and no cramping, but I get headaches now before my TOM and day 1 of TOM. I never had that before hcg. Anyway, this cabbage recipe reminds me of a cabbage recipe I had on hcg diet. Do you fry the cabbage in broth only with this or add a little CO? I'm used to cooking everything in CO so I suppose it's better to not use CO when doing a DD, right? I wanted to keep a coconut oil treat I eat with cocoa...just 1T of CO and 1T of cocoa and stevia. But do you think I should not have that on DD? CO can add up a lot of calories.

Looking forward to trying JUDDD.

CDW!! Glad to have you here at JUDDD You can use a little bit of CO if you allow for it in your calories, or you can use broth or you can fry the veggies in a cooking spray.

Sorry about your headaches. Who knows, with some time on this new woe, things might improve for you. You can try it and see. Hope you enjoy it, and join us in posting regularly here in the forum to let us know how you're doing on JUDDD.

Welcome! I get a headache the day or 2 before tom too. It is MISERABLE. My 4th baby brought that change along (she's 5 now).

I like the coconut oil treat too, but not on a DD. Too many calories and too little bulk--it isn't filling enough. I just spray the pan with pan spray, and then stir fry the cabbage a bit before adding a little broth and the protein. Cook it down a bit, and then I add either the soy sauce, or the cheese. Stir it in and enjoy.

Protein is REALLY important to me one a DD. It's what gets me through without feeling hollow. 1 egg can hold me till lunch when I have the cabbage, or a big veggie salad with some protein. Afternoons are my hungry time--around 3:30. A hardboiled egg, some broth with egg white stirred in, or a few slices of deli lunchmeat gets me over the hump until dinner, which is protein and veggies.

You'll find what combos work best for you pretty quickly.

There are some here trying a fat fat on DD's, if you want to look into that.

Happy JUDDDING!

This recipe sounds really good. I am going to try it tomorrow. Gotta get the coleslaw mix yet though.

I have a piece of coconut candy on DD's. I just can't survive the day without it. I also fry in coconut oil. And I don't really count the calories. I suppose after a couple of T's maybe a person should.

You may want to try using MCT oil which as 39 calories @ tsp. Even at two tsps, you're only getting 78 calories versus the higher calories from VCO, but I really think that 1 tsp would coat the pan well.

Thanks Gracie. That sounds good, too. For now, I'm going to try to just use chicken broth with the cabbage on DDs and no oil but on UDs, I'm going to have my CO .

I made this last night, used cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, 2 Garlic & Herb LC cheese, s/p, minced garlic, and shrimp. Very much on the list of things to 'alter' and do again! (The idea of the soy sauce is good -- we were missing some yet-to-figure-out spice, so the soy sauce might just be it!)

Holy cow.....I just made this for the first time tonight.

Medium size bag of shredded cabbage, first heated in a pan with some PAM, added in some salt, pepper and garlic, and let it simmer for a few minutes. Added in some shrimp, chicken broth, 2 garlic and herb Laughing Cow Light and some Italian seasonings.

Put a lid on, let the cheese melt and the cabbage cook down a bit, stirring occasionally for about 10 minutes.

I am STUNNED at how good this was....not "oh, it's ok for diet food" good, but really, really amazingly, want to lick the bowl good. And all for 177 calories. I want more - NOW!

I made it last night too -- cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, shrimp, onion, garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce -- if I hadn't over-cooked it, it might have been better, but I thought it was pretty good! DH gets what was left over for his lunch. I should try it again with the left over taco meat and salsa instead of shrimp! More calories, but shouldn't put us too far over since there would be no shrimp.

WOW where do I start?!

I read every post. Ya'll are inspiring. You seem to be having fun eating like this. I'd like to see the UD from ya'll. If its as good as DD, WOW!!!
And I will be a looking for that thread, ASAP

Mama and me used cabbage in soups when we did W.W. back in the 70s. W.W. People used it for many different variations.

Each time I click and read it is sounding to me like this is very do-able.

I have one thought at the foremost part of my mind. Is it do-able for me without any meds for diabetics. And the only way to find that answer is to jump in and test B/S and find out.

I will probaly start Sunday. I sure have a lot of reading to do. And knowing how many cals. I can do and lose with, will be easy for me. I sit on my rearend most of the day. Thats easy math~~~

I think I'd just about try anything for some color in my food~ It sure looks like there may be some color in the WOE ya'll are doing!

I am one that has never added veggies or fruit back into my diet. I have been doing VVLC for a very long time......A celery stick here and a green olive there Of eating brown, wanting to let the sunshine back in my WOE

Not sure if this belongs here because I didn't use laughing cow or a protein, but here's what I had for lunch yesterday (along with some Fage and berries) and it was great!

42 Calories
1 C shredded cabbage
3 oz. cherry tomatoes
WF bacon ranch dressing
(Next time I'll add a Tbsp. of crumbled bacon for texture and protein)

I was being lazy, so I nuked the cabbage for 1 minute, added the tomatoes whole, and poured on a little dressing, mixed it all together and ate! It was sort of like a warm BLT with no bread.

I can actually see putting this on a piece of low cal bread or a flatout as well for a few more calories. YUM!

Does everyone buy the bagged cabbage? I bought a head of cabbage. I used my food processor to TRY to shred it--what a mess!

For those that buy a head as opposed to a bag, do you just chop it?

I buy the bagged angel hair cabbage, but I used to make curried cabbage quite a lot and it was pretty easy to shred with just a long bladed knife. I wouldn't want to clean up the food processer after cabbage!

I buy the bag, no food processor and lazy!!!

On MD's, this is what i make that gets me through the whole day after breakfast. I usually have a decent breakfast then make this and eat on it all day.

1 whole bag of cabbage 80 calories
1 can geisha baby shrimp 100 calories
4 laughing cow cheese 140
1 whole medium zucchini, shredded 30 calories
1 handful of spinach 10 calories

I spray the pan with olive oil spray, add the cabbage and a little broth, shred the zucchini into the cabbage, add spinach, add some soy sauce, let all of this cook a bit.

Add minced garlic, diced jalapenos, pepper, sea salt, any seasonings you want.
Once it has all cooked down a bit add the laughing cow cheese and put the lid and let simmer, stirring once in while until the cheese is all melty.

This makes a huge pan and lasts all day. 360 calories
It leaves me plenty of room to still have a treat if i need it. I try to stay under 1000 on MD's. Today is a MD!!! Im looking forward to making this already!!

Ok I shred my own cabbage. The in the bug stuff looks light green like they skipped the outer dark green leaves. Also Spectrum makes a coconut spray similiar to pam. So when I want to fry something I can coconut oil spray it. Quizoid I never thought of adding garlic and ginger to mine what a fine idea thanks!

I love seeing all the creative variations on this simple combo! Personally, I love my own recipe so much I haven't been willing to venture out to try any of these other combinations.

Here's mine:

Cook 2 slices of thick bacon, chop and return to the pan (bacon grease = ). Add 3 cups shredded cabbage, a sprinkle of dried minced onion and a sprinkle of dried Garlic Garlic. Cook it til it's pretty wilted, then add about 1/2 tsp vegetable bouillion base and a couple Tbls of water. Add 2 Swiss laughing cow wedges and mash them in. Top with a Tbls of Parmesan cheese.

Bacony-cheesy veggie goodness for 233 calories. It feels super-decadent on a DD.

The seasonings I always add: garlic, onion, black pepper, soy sauce, red curry paste, ginger.

If really lazy or don't have the fresh, I use garlic powder and onion powder. I also use the ginger from the squeeze tube all the time, because to me it's the next best thing to fresh.

Last night I was in a super hurry because I hadn't eaten and we were leaving the house in like 15 min, so I fried some of the shredded cabbage, added the seasonings above and a little chicken broth. Stirred in a little leftover ground beef (already cooked).

Viola! Delicious and filling.

Normally I would have added a couple egg whites and stirred them into the hot frying mix, but didn't have time to separate them.

WOE: Whatever plan keeps me around 150 lbs!
I got a big jar of ginger garlic paste in the Indian section at Food Maxx last week. I haven't tried it yet, but I bet it would be good in the laughing cow/cabbage/protein concoction. 10 calories for a Tbsp.

I buy a head, cut it in half, and just thin-slice it. Works just fine for me and DH. Then I have 2 meals per head instead of the partial-meal bags -- I don't know if anyone else finds this, but I've had bad history with bagged cabbage/lettuce getting all slimy quickly and I have to throw it away. I've got the heads of cabbage in the fridge taking up a lot of room, but they last for a long time.
