Really sick of grocery stores stocking rotten produce
This is JUDDD related.
I went to 3 different grocery stores today to get some cucumbers and bell peppers for snacking on down days and none of them had good produce. Kroger was the worst, the cucumbers were absolutely rotten! Had soft, moldy spots already. I partly blame their produce issues on their sprinkling system that keeps it soaking wet all the time. HEB was almost as bad, the radish bunches leaves were slimy and the lettuce in bags was already brown and wet. I didn't pick up a single tomato that wasn't mushy. Randalls (safeway/albertsons in other areas) was a little better but their selection is very limited anymore.

I always have to get my produce at a produce market; Kroger and Spartan, even if they seem fresh when I buy them, rot too quickly.

I go to the produce market, too and the veggies are always the best! They are run by Koreans here and not only do they have the freshest produce AND they have all the Walden Farms stuff, I get to talk to them and practice my Korean I'm learning!! Win/Win for Beeb!!
Maybe there is one in your town, Dottie? |

I was at the grocery yesterady. And I was talking to the meat cutter and he said All this pork is going to be thrown out if it doesn't sell today. Because of the sell by date.
I told him well its to expensive if they would lower their prices people could afford their meat. But instead you all will be throwing it out and people will be going hungry tonight while theirs meat in dumpsters. About tomatos the grocery stores tomatos suck. the bananas were green. I could go and on. I went for the 99 cent eggs and the $2.99 bacon which they were sold out of.

I did get some beef at WalMart yesterday marked down to $1.85/lb, which is great. I put it in one pound increments, and froze it. Perfect for our small family. I know that folks love grass-fed beef and all, but I must stick to a budget, and that fits!!
