I'd like to try JUDDD
So I put my info in the calculator on the JUDDD site. How do I actually start? Is your first day a down day and then an up day? Does it just always alternate down up down up or is there ever 2 down or up days in a row? I have so many questions I've only just heard about this diet. Thanks in advance for any help you have!

I also rotate DD/UD/DD/UD, etc.Keep asking questions and check out all the threads here. I learned TONS of info on these threads, and everyone is so supportive and helpful! ![]() GOOD LUCK! ![]() |

I think most here would agree that this is the easiest plan around. And for me, personally, the most effective. If you can stick with it for a while, and get used to the down days, you get to where you look forward to them. At least that seems to be the consensus.
I would highly encourage you to set up a calorie counting program for yourself. I personally use ************, but there are many others. You can choose as you wish, but this will be essential to your success. Also, if you can, invest in a little scale to weigh food. It is amazing to see what amounts really look like! ![]() This forum is the sweetest group around!! You will love it here!

Many people find it easier to start with an Up Day, especially if you've been doing any kind of restricted-calorie WOE lately. A Down Day may be more difficult if you didn't eat enough the day before.
It's generally not recommended to do 2 consecutive DDs. If you need to switch your days (for a special event/holiday, your work schedule, etc), many people do a "Medium Day" which is your DD + UD calories divided by 2; doing 2 consecutive Up Days once a month or even once a week seems to be OK for some people. If you don't get a lot of responses here, many people have recently started threads like "I'm thinking about starting JUDDD" and they may have asked some of your questions. Or look for threads with your specific question ("Do you start with a DD or an UD?" "What's a Medium Day?"); they might be on the 2nd or 3rd page. And check out the newbie thread--and ![]()

Great! Thanks so much. Do you have to go the 2 week thing with the 500 calorie down days? and do down days have carb restrictions or is it simply counting calories! TIA I'm getting excited here!!!

I would suggest as others do to read old posts. They were immensely helpful to me in the beginning. This plan is easy to get used to. I will say that I was not eating up to my UD calories, and now that I am, the weight is coming off even better. You will just need to jump in and go! ![]() |

Thank you all so much for your replies. I read the link and I've been reading the other threads too. I am going to start with a down day tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous as I have not eaten only 500 cals or less in a very very long time but I am sure I can do it.
On the JUDDD site the calculator gave me 3539 as my normal calories and 708 as my Down Days calories. That was with little or no exercise @ 20% weight loss mode. That 3539 cals. number is a lot. Surely I am not supposed to eat that on my Up days?!!!!! |

Quite possibly, the site (or you, accidentally), switched your weight from pounds to kilograms! Try it again, making sure the units are correct. I have a feeling those numbers are a little high.

![]() That is way too many. What most do is use the three calorie calculators provided in that link, and take an average. Hope this helps... |

If you've been doing low-carb and start eating higher carb, you'll add a few lbs of water weight gain. It's fine to do JUDDD low carb if that's what you prefer; many people do. You should also be prepared for big weight swings on JUDDD. A lot of folks only weigh after DDs. Good luck! |

Just remember the first couple of DD are the hardest and then it gets much easier! Many of us love our down days for various reasons! Just have some things on hand for when you run out of calories and you are still hungry or thinking about food. I'll usually have a 5 calorie chicken bouillon cube or a 25 calorie cup of diet swiss miss hot cocoa. Both fill me right up. And you get to eat more food the next day! The DD staples thread has a lot of great ideas. |

Lucille, I'm on a DD today. So far, I've had a coffee w/some almond milk (40 cals), 1/2 can Progresso Light New England Clam Chowder (100 cals), and about 5 strawberries because I was cutting them up for dessert for my fam after dinner.
![]() But, I wanted to point out that I SERIOUSLY feel wayyy better on DDs. I wish I could explain it to you, but it's something you will have to experience youself. It will take some time, and there's no way you will believe it until it happens. Just give it 2-3 weeks, and you will it! |
