Wine

I have been all over this board and I know we have some wine drinkers.(winos)

So can you all tell me. what kind you drink and how much and calorie count.
I am a true wino I always have been. Just wondering about you all.;)

I love pinot noir but only drink a glass or two about once a week, and only on a UD. I average it at about 120 calories a glass.

FremenChick 12-05-2011 06:53 PM

I  Pinot Noir. I'm having a glass at the moment. I buy whatever is on sale. Pinot never dissapoints.

Cheers!

I prefer my bold, deep reds... merlot, cab sav, burgundy, etc. (though I'll drink any kind of wine)...

****** gives about 150 calories for a 6 oz. glass of red.

I try to limit drinking to just UDs, and I try to keep it to 3 glasses.

I used to never have liquor - wine only - but over the last couple weeks due to the holidays, I've been imbibing since the liquors tend to have lower calories. I've been having some mixed drinks - whiskey & diet cola, or vodka with whatever....

Still prefer my wine though. Honestly, I need to reign things in again. I was doing real good, but now... :o

I never was really into wine. I tried a red the other day and was not that crazy about it. Is white wine a worse choice in the scope of things?

MintQ8 12-06-2011 03:26 AM

Just off to see my fitness pal...

Yesterday - 3rd ish of a bottle of red - 186 cals
Saturday - 2/3rds of a Pinot Grigio - 411 cals
Champagne - 3rd of a bottle 187 cals

I just put it into fitness pall - and choose the generic version (unless I know the name of the wine etc!!)

sherrymyra 12-06-2011 08:05 PM

I personally enjoy a nice chilled glass of Riesling from time to time.

sherrymyra 12-07-2011 05:19 PM

Is Riesling white or red? I'm assuming white.

mayleesa 12-07-2011 05:20 PM

riesling is most often a sweet sweet white
mostly a dessert wine

JKat 12-07-2011 05:36 PM

 riesling!!
Barefoot riesling is inexpensive and very nice chilled

dasiey 12-07-2011 05:57 PM

synger 12-08-2011 11:35 AM

Dasiey you know me..dry merlot

just to tell ya

the difference between white wine and red is that they leave the skins on for making red...white skins are leftout

MintQ8 12-08-2011 01:58 PM

Interestingly - nowadays Riesling is less sweet - the new world Rieslings are quite yummy - and I normally like a very dry wine!!

Managed a glass of champagne on a DD!!

MintQ8 12-08-2011 01:59 PM

Oooh - and for Red - a Shiraz or a Merlot! White - Pinot Grigio or a Chardonnay (although not sure about all of them!)

Vicky some are drier.. I do love the sweat ones!

Red gives me a blazing headache!!! Really really bad!

Knittering 12-08-2011 05:06 PM

I'm having some red wine right now! A lot of people say alcohol makes them eat more but it has the opposite effect on me. A glass before dinner and I eat much less. :)

sherrymyra 12-08-2011 08:25 PM

Red wine for me gives me a headache too. Drink a couple of glasses and instant headache.

MintQ8 12-09-2011 01:10 AM

It seems there is Reservatrol in Red Wine!!! Sorry for those who get a headache!!

JKat 12-09-2011 03:05 AM

I was wondering if anyone knows what reds do not give a headache. I know its something in the wine that they take out but not sure which is which???

sherrymyra 12-09-2011 05:02 AM

I think it's sulfates in the red wine.

JKat 12-09-2011 06:11 AM

R there any red wines without sulfates??

Thanks Doll

I didn't know this.

MintQ8 12-09-2011 12:15 PM

sulfates or tannins??

I think an Australian brand called Banrock Station doesn't put sulfates in.
