DDs only - What did you eat?

I think it will be helpful to me to post what I eat on DDs.

I hope other people will join in.

Then we can look here for ideas when planning future DDs.

One of my favorite things to eat on a DD is some fat free greek yogurt, flavored with the SF Torani syrup of my choice (white chocolate is a favorite) and an apple. I dip the apple slices in the flavored yogurt and it's just delicious!

Janet - what brand of yogurt do you use? I like the idea of dipping in apple slices.

I use the Fat Free Fage. It's the best that I have found in my area and for a cup of yogurt, it's 130 calories.

Chili with cheese and crackers sounds like a great DD dinner...

Check out the Homestyle chili that is highlighted in our posts. I tried the beef and it's very good.

Do you see how the word chili is blue? If you click on it, you go to the chili page on the netrition website. It's $4.95 shipping for your entire order and they have a lot of great things!

Whenever you see a blue word on our message boards, it's a link to the netrition product.

Here's the link, too. Homestyle Fresh Chili

From the cooks.com recipe site:

SAUSAGE, EGG, HASH BROWN CASSEROLE
1 lb. sausage
9 large eggs, slightly beaten
3/4 cup milk
4 tablespoons melted butter
24 oz. pkg. hash browns
8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Break up sausage meat and discard casings, if desired. Layer raw sausage on bottom of a well buttered 9"x13" pan. Add milk and melted butter to beaten eggs and pour over sausage.

Note: You may substitute 2 tablespoons of olive oil in place of 2 tablespoons of the butter with good results.

Add hash browns and top with shredded cheese.

Bake for one hour.

About 4 servings.

*I used sour cream instead of milk, and just mixed it into the eggs. I also added some French fried onions to it before baking. And I used frozen maple sausage patties that I partially cooked and then chopped and added to the bottom of the casserole dish. Made a lot of casserole...I had just a small serving. Tasty goodness...

I made something that came out quite yummy for dinner last night -

1 cup chopped yellow peppers
1 cup diced turkey

Brown that in a frying pan with a little water until the peppers soften up. Then add a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese and mix until melted. Serve over a cup of raw spinach.

Was so good! I figured it to about 330 calories which was great for me as an evening meal.

This sounds very yummy, Janet, and very healthy for a DD dinner. I'll be making this later in the week.

I had a very busy day today, was away from home from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

DD. So I just drank tea until 4 p.m., then I went to Boston Market and ate:

turkey breast - regular portion (180 calories)
garlicky spinach (140)
steamed veggies (60)
new potatoes (140)

Total: 520 calories

(Calorie counts from their website.)

It was a good, filling meal, relatively healthy as fast food goes... Sometimes this is the best I can do.

Smiles to all,
Cynthia

I have noticed that my jar of pickles has apparently nothing in it - no calories, no carbs, no nothing.

So, I ate several pickles last night when I got the munchies!

Mine says zero everything to. But I still limit them. Just saying I can't eat alot of them and it still be zero. I have to count something.

The salt in them may also make you retain water - so may not see an immediate loss following a DD. It's not fat - just be aware that this may happen!!!

My DD tend to involve coffee (frothy stuff out), shiratake something or other - and whatever calories I can fit in!!

I have had 295 today - it's now 8.05pm - but I may have a meringue nest for 52 calories later!! with some yoghurt - yum!!

love2sing,

the banana cream was SF pie filling from a box that I just made and ate as filling

the pumpkin custard is beeb's pumpkin pie recipe w/o the crust. I made four mini-pumpkin pies and had a serving of just custard w/no crust left. It's on page 1 of DD receipes (the sticky thread).
