Up Day today.

I did a little experimental Low-carb cooking and some early prep-work for Thanksgiving, because I knew that if I cook all my low-carb creations tomorrow, I will be sampling all day long and tomorrow is a down day. So, I had to change my plan several times all day long, but I managed to stay within budget for both calories and carbs, even though I tried a "fluffy biscuit" and a taste of the "pumpkin bake", both from this forum. Also I made a vegetable-based low-carb gravy and a thick vegetable stew to use as a flavor base for my low-carb stuffing. Naturally I had to try these as well, but the calories/carbs there were negligible.

DD tomorrow is going to be a bit harder. I am making all the high carb/ high calorie dishes tomorrow. They will be refrigerated and reheated on Thursday. I am not going to eat even ONE BITE of the carby crap. That's the plan!

DD here. Still trying to work the down days (this is my third) WITH breakfast. It seems that not many here do that and I can see why, but I really do wake up hungry and always have.

B: scrambled egg, one teaspoon coconut oil
L: Hebrew National dog, low carb tortilla (have been wheat free for a while so we'll see what happens )
D: pork chop, romaine, blue cheese, sugar free jello

I had a hard time sleeping last DD and woke up all night long, so I'm definitely trying to push as many calories as possible to dinner time. Oh, and not stay up until 1am working at the computer. lol

525 calories

DD here (so looking forward to my UD tomorrow!)

Honestly, I'm not feeling all that well today. Very snotty. Had some issues this morning. I think I may have some salad shrimp later with (if I'm feeling up to it) some salad. Not really sure yet. Glad it's a DD though!

Thank you, Dottie! On my first DD I did one whole egg + 2 egg whites and some spinach. That seemed to work well too. I will search for more options, though!

Here's my standard, although I vary the veggies with what I've got on hand:

Swanson's low sodium broth can, 30 calories
one whole egg + 3 whites, 125 calories
one teaspoon grated ginger, 2 calories
one clove garlic, 4 calories (omit if you don't like, trying to avoid a cold)
1/2 cub shredded cabbage, 9 calories
And I top with 4 Tablespoons chopped scallions (the tops), 6 calories.

I like to add a Tablespoon apple cider vinegar and some red chili pepper flakes after it's cooked, makes it taste more like hot & sour soup.

Yesterday I realized I screwed up my eating schedule for the week, but I thought I needed today to be an UD since my Mom and I were going shopping - now the shopping's been moved to Sat.

So I had a DD yesterday and today is an UD. I'm still going to make tomorrow a FD, then go back to a DD on Friday.

DH is taking me out Friday night for our anniversary (which is actually on Sunday, lol, but Fri's the best time for us to go out), so I'm going to save up most of my calories until evening so I can have some lower cal stuff at Red Lobster, like the shrimp cocktail and the broiled seafood platter.

B: Pickled herring and sardines with cream cheese and crackers, tea
(I try to have fish for breakfast a couple times per month)
L: Steak...I would like some steamed broccoli but I don't have any and am a bit afraid of going to the supermarket today!!!

Then DD starts through about 5pm tomorrow...my son and I celebrate holidays with his grandfather; we've lost some family members in the last few years and the rest live out of state; it's just the 3 of us now and both of them are vegetarian, so we decided we'd go out for Indian food this year! We're really, really looking forward to it!!!

Mmm, those Chocolate Mint cookies were amazing! I also had a small piece of my fruit cake earlier, and finished the box of Hot Tamales. There were about 8 left in the box. Guess I'm into the sugar today, but at least I made the Hot Tamales last about two weeks! Before JUDDD, the whole big box would have been gone in one or two sittings.

YAY! Glad I reminded you!
It's such a nice thing to have on hand...will keep for quite a long time in the fridge. Years ago, my family shared a kitchen with our German landlord, and he often had pickled herring in cream, rye toast, a soft-boiled egg, and tea for breakfast...actually, maybe it was every day!

It's one of my favorites when I have time for a big, leisurely breakfast.

Ugh, today has turned out more like a MD. I can see my weight is up...that sugar yesterday just took its own sweet time about packing on the water weight.

Well, I'm not going to let whatever weight shows up tomorrow affect Thanksgiving.
