Guessamated Calories In A Half Roasted Chicken?
I am making a half a chicken for dinner tonight. It is cut down the middle so I get a leg, a wing, half a breast and a thigh. It weighs 22 oz including bones.
I have NO idea how to even figure out the calories on this little gem! ![]() ![]() I could take the chicken off the bones, I know and do it that way, white and dark meat, but I'm trying to just be lazy and figure it out somehow without going through this. Any help is GREATLY appreciate. ![]() |

Way too much time on my hands!

Man, you got me.
![]() Could you just weigh it and then use those ounces to enter as half bone-in breast and half bone-in thigh? No matter what, this isn't likely to be real accurate, but especially in your maintenance, sometimes close enough is close enough. |

Ok myplate lists:
1 roasted chicken breast(meat and skin) at 319 cals 1 roasted chicken thigh at 153 1 roasted drumstick at 112 and 1 roasted wing at 100 So total (and a total guess) : 684 and that's probably high a bit |

****** is giving 1,478 calories for 22 oz. chicken meat. Edited to add - I realize you've got bone weight in there though.

Costco roasted chicken show 140 calories for a serving and they are saying 9 servings to a chicken - (3 ounces a serving and 27 ounces for a chicken). That would come out to 630 for a half chicken. I think everyones numbers are pretty good. If you are roasting it yourself it might be a bit less depending on how you season it.
Enjoy - sounds good. |

These are the numbers I use for chicken:
Breast - 193 Thigh - 153 Leg - 112 Wing - 100 I got these numbers a few years ago, do not remember where. They are all the same as yours except for the breast! Of course I like my numbers much better!!! ![]() Last edited by leonak; 11-16-2011 at 02:06 PM.. |

OK, I'm counting it as 645, somewhere in the middle of all our suggests and info and have done with it!
Plus, I really don't think I'm going to eat that whole half chicken, anyway! ![]() Thanks everyone! ![]() |

NOPE!
![]() I couldn't finish it! I left a leg for my DD lunch tomorrow! I figured it in at 650 and just left it that way, even minus the leg. A few "over calculated" calories on my UD isn't going to harm any. IT WAS , too but I didn't get to eat it until 9:00 tonight! Clients ran late which makes the whole day back up! |
