Taking a Poll
When you first started JUDDD did you go a little crazy but stay in your calorie range on junk food/fast food?

I was scared to! In fact, it wasnt till I was close to goal that I started adding in some more junky food.....now I am at goal, I have some FD's (free days) where I eat what I like and dont count!
When I count cals, I tend to be very conservative with my choices...I need my free days so I can go crazy if I want! hugs Jo x |

SURE DID!!
but then after about 2 UDs the "OMG I CAN HAVE THIS NOW" turned to "You DON'T have to eat it all at once, there are many, many more UDs to eat stuff like this, if you want" and now I just eat good, clean foods again with a "special" snack/meal thrown in. |

I made it almost a week before a "special occasion". Ate many, many carbs (yummy junk included) on my UD but stayed close to my calorie ceiling. (I think)

Well, for the first week, I was still trying to do LC as much as I could, although I'd loosened up a lot with birthday cake, Chinese buffet, etc. But I was doing great with UD & DD and the weight was flying off! I was almost at goal weight... one pound to go... AND THEN...
cue the scary music It was the 2nd week that my plan took a nose-dive, not from going crazy on the carby foods, but by going crazy on the calories on UD! Keep in mind that I was supposed to have 1700-1800 calories on UD Here are the calories I actually had that second week: Oct. 17 - UD - calories? Who knows, cause I had 1200 under my belt by the time I hit that Chinese buffet and gorged myself til I was sweating soy sauce ![]() Oct. 18 - DD - 440 Ah, back on track. But no, wait. I tell you just wait for the crazy cause it's comin'! ![]() Oct. 19 UD - 2,179 Not the end of the world, right? Right. But wait for the crazy... Oct. 20 DD - 3,804 Biggest LOL ever! What the *** was I thinking?? I don't know, but it wasn't anything about a DD! Crazy! Bad, bad cat! ![]() Oct. 21 - UD - 2,450 Yeah, um, at this point I'm back up to 150 pounds. Gosh, I wonder how that happened? ![]() Oct. 22 - DD - 450 Ahh, back on track, and here's where I stayed "good" and the rest of my weight came off just fine. And yes, some of this was fast food and junk food, but it wasn't the kind of food that put the weight on me, it was how I way overdid the calories! But if you're wondering if it's normal to "go a little crazy" at first on junk food, fast food, all the things we may have been denying ourselves, then yeah, I'd say that's normal for a lot of us. Things will evolve somewhat as you get further into the JUDDD program.

I almost cant help it. I am enjoying eating, lol! But I am watching my calories so I hope I am good. I gotta work on having a good DD though. My first one was like 730 and yesterdays DD turned into a MD, 1020. I will get the hang of it soon I am sure. And I am sure in about a week or so the newness of having all my restricted foods will wear off.

Pssssst! Teresa, over here.....LOL!
If you're struggling with your DD's try waiting as long as possible INTO the day before eating anything. Coffee's fine. A lot of people find they can make it until 1:00 - I hold off until dinner. The less hours you're eating, the less you have to spread out those few carbs on a DD..... works for some, not for others..... |

I drink whatever beverages I want all day, Diet Coke, water (I'm not a coffee drinker), and keep a few sugar free hard candies in my purse for any cravings! They make cherry Sugar free Life Savers (in a bag, not a roll) that are awesome and have 5 calories. And some butterscotch things that have 30 cals for 2.
I usually end up eating 2 or 3 during the course of the day.... |

![]() I basically pulled a "Sophie" my second, third, and fourth weeks. I didn't go crazy w/fast or junk food--I just went crazy on UDs! I lost 4 lbs. my first week, and thought I could eat anything on UDs. Since, I have gathered the wisdom of the almighty(s) Pat and Beeb So, I've been counting my UDs and not going too much over. I will be reporting after my weigh-in tomorrow morning, which will be 1 week since I started counting BOTH days.![]() |

Well, I will admit to eating a Mrs. Freshly's Banana Pudding cupcake this past Saturday (and I'm doing low-carb JUDDD),
but I was still in ketosis the next day, so crisis averted! ![]() |

Yes. No trouble at all eating less than 500 calories. My problem seems to come with eating anything I want but a LIMITED amount (!). Blows my mind, really!! Almost too much freedom for me to handle!! Hope I learn soon as I think this is the all important lesson to learn from JUDDD. This seems to me the trick to maintaining after goal. Why I got into a weight problem (seemingly endless) in the first place, right? What IS one serving?!! That's been my problem. Can I actually eat just one potato chip - Lays commercial, remember?
Yeah. I have a lot to learn... ![]()

And you can eat anything in the world. What I found was that by doing the above during weight loss, it pretty well trained me in the proper portions and serving sizes for later when I wanted to maintain. Now it's just real easy. I think you are going to do this really well. And it's going to do everything for you that you are hoping. |

Okay, I said I would report at the end of the week now that I've started counting UD cals, but I don't weigh myself every day, so here it is:
9-Nov DD 684 153.3 10-Nov UD 1840 ? 11-Nov DD 426 ? 12-Nov UD 1811 ? 13-Nov DD 720 ? 14-Nov UD 1733 151.7 15-Nov DD 465 151.2 16-Nov UD ? 150.4 (weigh in this AM) |

Not me! I stayed low-carb and I haven't really changed my diet all that much, except adding some fat calories and extra protein to my up days. - Which is perfect because I am going to start a weight training program after Thanksgiving, when I am done with decorating the house and remodeling my daughter's room. I will be needing that protein! I may cut the sour cream, peanut butter, and butter out of my diet again and make sure all of my "extra" up day calories come from high quality vegetarian protein and some yummy protein shakes, so I can add some serious muscles to re-set this tired old metabolism of mine.

I'm into my 5th week and yesterday, on my DD yesterday, I flubbed for the first time and a big flub it was!
My meals were not as substantial as they usually are and I got the night time munchies, so I delved into caramel mini rice cakes. I usually have one serving of these on my DDs, but last night.........oooh, I don't even want to type how much I had! ![]() Funny thing is, I'm down this morning, but I won't allow that to be license to eat them again with abandon. Could be that I'm so close to goal, that I may be self-sabotaging!?! ![]() Nah, that can't be it! ![]() |
