Good morning Dottie and everyone else to follow...

Today for me has GOT to be a DD!!!

I plan on having my usual morning decaf coffee, mid morning = a shake, this afternoon / lunch = veggie soup, then early evening = another shake, plus lots of h2o. This ( the Atkins shakes) I really like plus they seem to work for me, simplicity, calorie and schedule wise.

Good morning, all.

UD for me. I ended the DD last night with some more food. I was getting a headache and needed it, so it was worth it, and I didn't go over count too badly.

Had breakfast today! Oatmeal and black coffee.

UP day, here I come!

This is my VERY FIRST up day, and I am a little scared of eating all these calories. But I have to jump start my BMR and my constant diet of <600 calories has left my metabolism unable to burn fat.

So, here goes!

Breakfast:
Flaxseed One Minute Muffin
1/4 cup sour cream
Stevia
Coffee with Almond Milk

Lunch:
3/4 cup egg beaters omelette
Low-carb tortilla
Hot sauce
2 tbsp sour cream
1.5 cups raw broccoli with Walden Farms dip
Crystal Light

Snack:
GG Scandinavian crispbread
2 tbsp PB2
Walden Farms strawberry spread
Water

Dinner:
3/4 cup egg beaters omelette
Low-carb tortilla
Hot sauce
2 tbsp sour cream
1.5 cups mashed cauliflower
Water

Dessert:
Protein powder pancake
Sprinkle of Butter Buds
Walden Farms pancake syrup
Water

Tea with almond milk as desired

Ends up being 108g protein and 25 carbs.

Still not enough calories, though. Only about 1000.

I am staying low-carb and I am a vegetarian. I still haven't figured out how to get to 1600 calories without eating a quart of egg beaters or a bazillion protein shakes every day, and still stay low carb...

Hi, I bolded a few things you listed and out to the side put higher calorie/fat suggestions. Things like that will help up the calories.

DD for me. Black diluted coffee to stave off caffeine headache!! And just made Mac 'n Cheese with miracle noodles for <100 calories. It's noon now so maybe I'll put on a pot of veggies cooked in chicken broth to nibble on the rest of the day. Thinking too to chop up a FF hotdog and tossing it in there. Maybe this will make it more palatable - I usually brown my hotdogs well in a skillet and finding that FF ones don't really brown, do they? Anyway, I think it should work in a soup since I really don't mind the taste only the browning problem.

Nikki: I had this problem, too, at least initially. Not the vegetarian, LC problem but the "not eating enough calories on an UD" problem. It's hard to readjust a mindset from one day to the next. Sophies ideas are good, I'd definitely do those. Sounds to me like you need a piece of cake or a boco on a regular bun. Enjoy your UD!!!

I was already thinking about getting some full-fat salad dressing (checking the carbs on the label, of course) and buying some all-natural, full-fat peanut butter. Butter I already have in the house, and I always use full-fat sour cream because it has less carbs.

Also I can have some nuts, that will help a lot.

Thanks for your suggestions! Old calorie-counting habits die hard. lol

UD for me. So far I've had:
B: yogurt, syrup, blueberries, toasted almonds (and a chocolate chip cookie)
L: spinach, cottage cheese, salsa, chicken breast, homemade vinaigrette (and a chocolate chip cookie)
S: string cheese, some veggie stix, 1 piece dark chocolate, 1 piece milk chocolate, 2 tbsp PB

I think my mama's making lentils and rice for dinner, so that's probably what I'll be eating. I have plenty of calories left, I'm at 1509/2452 for the day. You can tell my brother made a batch of choco chip cookies last night. I was craving some fruit with my lunch but it appears we're all out of apples and bananas. Time to go shopping!!

Betty I read an article a while back about salt causing appetite. Maybe the miso soup is making you hungrier?

You know, that's something I realized while on Atkins. I could eat bacon and pepperoni in unlimited amounts without getting full. But plain lightly salted home cooked meats fill me up super fast.

Guess I should be careful with my broths, I'm having a lot of those lately... I bought low sodium but their idea of low sodium and my idea of low sodium are two different things.

Well my menu totally changed.
Ended up with a thin sliced sirloin and asparagus for lunch.
Dinner's probably the chili, with cheese, onions and avocado since my calories are awfully low for an UP day. May still toast a pita, spritz it with evoo and sprinkle with chili lime popcorn seasoning or something.

DD for me today. I am trying to go super low-cal and not eat any real "food" until dinner. Liquids only.

B: coffee w/ SF creamer and 2T h&h (69)
L: 12oz vegetarian veggie broth and a diet cherry Pepsi (15)
S: coffee w/ 2 mini-moos (20)

Still haven't had "food". I'm currently sitting at the hockey rink, so I won't be eating until after 6:30. But honestly, I'm not starving. Must be all that good fat I've got on me that's keeping me from feeling starved! Lol!!

I did make a delicious looking quiche for dinner that's in the oven now (DH better take it out before I get home!!), but I think I'll just save myself a slice of it for tomorrow's lunch. I'm thinking that I'll have a lettuce-wrapped vegan burger w/ a laughing cow and smear of lite MW on it for dinner...119 calories.

That would put me at 223 for the day. Certainly my "downest" DD to date. We'll see how the rest of the evening plays out.

Upon returning from exercise 6 oz roast beef (not the deli stuff...the home cooked kind)

Lunch - the rest of a mushroom, pepper, onion & cheese omelet & cooked cabbage.

Snack - 1/2 orange

Dinner - 1 grilled chicken breast & cooked carrots (carrots cooked with roast earlier in the week)

And 104 oz of water all day long

What a great up day for 1600 calories!

B: Coffee with half and half, Greek yogurt with chocolate PB2 (yum), chicken bouillon cube, swiss miss diet hot cocoa.

L: Cheeseburger on a real bun (no mayo), hot cheetos, a russell stover thin mint.

D: a small baked potato (my first in years!) with a TBSP of country crock, 6 ounces of baked skinless chicken breast.

Everything tasted so good after a 298 calorie down day. I'm nice and full. I have lots of leftover chicken for tomorrow's down day and just may graze on that. Gotta love JUDDD

I had a pretty simple DD today at about 600 calories, and this evening I'm quite satisfied, although thirsty. I'm about to fix a GIANT glass of ice and 0-calorie beverage.. strawberry lemonade.

Remember the giant sweet cake-y lemon poppy seed muffins? They come 4 to a container. So DH expects 2 will be for me... and I had the one yesterday morning, and I don't even want the other one. He's eaten both of his, and this one is just going to waste, getting stale. I don't even want it. Maybe he'd like it yet this evening.

This would never have happened prior to JUDDD. Truly, I love food, all kinds of food, but now that I can have anything, I find I can take or leave an awful lot of stuff.

Oh man, I'm out of town, staying with a relative for night #2 and today has been a FREE UD! My first

Yep, I decided to go ahead and not bother counting calories today. I may go ahead and tally them up now that I'm at the end of the day just to see what it came to. I know that's defeating the purpose of a FD, but while I'm new to it, I am just curious about how high I went. I have a feeling it went quite high. I won't let it bother me. Believe me, I was pretty ravenous today and would have ate that way no matter what, lol.

I just had a ham salad sandwich and popcorn. It had been more than 6 hours since I ate because I had so much going this late afternoon & p.m.

Hope every has a good night.

Well, I survived my first up day, but MAN am I STUFFED. It's actually a little uncomfortable, I'm so full.

I am just not used to eating this much. Blech.

Hope it gets easier as I adjust to a new WOE.

DD tomorrow, should be easier since I am used to my self-styled, nutritionally complete VLCD.
