Anyone else have first week progress they would post?

Lori S posted her first week progress, seeing her numbers gave me an idea of what I could see but I would love to see a few more peoples as well to compare how they did.

onceNforall 11-13-2011 04:28 AM

I started last Monday (11/7) and have so far lost 7lb!! Of course that's mainly water weight, but heck....I'll take it! Did M-W-F DD's of 500-650 and UD's T-TH-Sat of about 2300. Today will be a 1200 cal. MD and we'll see what my one week weigh-in is tomorrow morning.

Skinjob 11-13-2011 05:52 AM

I started last Monday and have lost 3 lbs so far. Yesterday was an UD so I am up 1.5lbs this morning but I know it is just water retention that will come off, along with some extra. That's what happened earlier this week. I was up 4 lbs after an UD, but those 4, along with another .5, came off after the DD. I'll post my one week results on Tuesday. Keep up the good work!

Sandelio 11-13-2011 06:16 AM

Was doing very low carb leading up to this week - started JUDDD with a DD on Monday after being frustrated at a 1.5 lb gain after having ONE piece of fried chicken (typical on VLC)!

Had a less than perfect JUDDD week because of some business travel/meetings/dinners on Tuesday and Wednesday. My DD's during the week were definately right around 500 / my UD's were ALL over my allowed calories, and certainly high on carbs! :o

Net result = DOWN 2.5 POUNDS for the week! :jumpjoy:

I can guarantee that if I had just stopped VLC, not started JUDDD and ate what I ate this week, I'd be at about 195! (Don't ask how I know this.... )

Pulled straight from my logs:

186.5 11-6 Sun (Had some vodka last night...)
188.0 11-7 Mon (EEEeeek! One piece of non-lc fried chicken did THIS?!?!?)
186.5 11-8 Tues (Started JUDDD yesterday, so may see more "ups & downs")
? 11-9 Wed (No scale available - travelling)
189.5 11-10 Thurs (Yikes! That's what two UPs in a row will get ya!)
187.0 11-11 Fri
187.0 11-12 Sat (Rather amazing after the UP I had yesterday!)
184.0 11-13 Sun

  :yummy:

sophiethecat 11-13-2011 11:45 AM

Started...

Oct. 12 - 150#
Oct. 14 - 148#
Oct. 15 - 147#
Oct. 16 - 146#

Then came the ill-fated Chinese buffet dinner on Oct. 17 that hosed me down in water weight. Instead of getting back on track, I ate hundreds and hundreds too many calories on each UD that week.... Back to 150# by the end of the week.

I sat down and took a good, hard look over my calories, my losses, my gains, did some math, and came up with exact calorie ranges for me.

Starting over....

Oct. 22 - 150#
Oct. 24 - 148#
Oct. 29 - 147#
Oct. 30 - 146#
Oct. 31 - 145#

GOAL!

Maintained around 145# for a week, but decided to lose some more.

Nov. 7 - 145#
Nov. 10 - 144#
Nov. 12 - 142#

GOAL!

Keep in mind this wasn't straight down, down, down. I had DDs & UDs that went over-calorie, and I had fluctuations too, just like everyone here, and some water gains off and on from certain carby/salty meals, but I just kept going.

HTH! :high5:

Sandelio 11-13-2011 12:55 PM

So, Sophie, do you only weigh after DD's?

No. I had fluctuations but didn't record them. That's why it looks like a steady drop down. But though there were some days where I lost one pound after the other, there were also some ups and downs like everyone else has been having.

I used to do what I think you are doing. When recording my weight doing low carb, I would just put down my new lows and then put that same number down over and over until I hit ANOTHER new low! I'm not recommending people do this but it helped me not to get mentally worked up about my weight fluctuating up and down.

Since I started JUDDD on Oct 26, I've been putting my actual weights since it's a new diet and I want to be fully aware of how different things are affecting my daily weight. I guess since I'm in maintenance mode right now, and not weight loss mode, I'll keep doing this.

:o Yes, that's why I didn't record those numbers, it got to me mentally when I saw them on the scale. What I would do was just try to forget about it until the next weigh in and try to keep my UD/DD #s closer to what they were supposed to be, and sooner or later I'd have another loss.

I am still bothered by fluctuations. For example, I saw 143 on the scale this morning, so I am up a pound from my UD yesterday, and therefore up a pound from my low of 142. I do not like to think of this

But I am in maintenance and with the looser UDs I will probably be having, I must adjust mentally to bounces and not let them get to me. After all, that's why I wanted to drop a few more from my original goal weight in the first place - so I had ROOM to bounce up the scale from holiday eating!

But think of it this way: Your body is working the way Mother Nature intended it to work. This is how your physical being is designed to work. Store and release.. store and release.

If you were a primitive wild human with no scale to step on each morning, your body would still be fluctuating in weight as the days of your life passed. Only you just wouldn't know it.

Just be happy that your healthy body is working like it's designed to, and pay attention enough to keep tabs if you're gaining a smidge too much, too close to the top of your maintenance window. Other than that, relax about the normal day-to-day scale fluctuations. :hugs:

That's why a weight range is essential. We all know you can't wake up every single morning and have your scale say 142.0  I have always been down after a down day but not always to my lowest. After one crazy up day, I was up 4.6 pounds but then 5 days later I hit my lowest weigh ever since I was 12 :) The bouncing around I've done has been incredible but I do my best to keep it all in stride.

Wow....lost a total of 8.5lb my first week on JUDD

This is where I usually start to fade....need to keep it going a 2nd week one day at a time! (somehow after being faithful to a WOE for a full week, I feel like I should have lost all my weight....downfall of mine) :annoyed:

Maybe if you can shift your way of looking at it just a little, it would help.

Try to think of it not as the act of losing weight as much as the ongoing daily practice of weight management, and merely one of the things you do for your body and your health.

The attendance to your body's composition and percentage of fat stores, is simply one item of care you practice overall, along with the care you give all of your various body parts.

Sometimes people are *right there* when we talk about the care of their hair, or their nails, skin, callused heels, their dental care, vision care, etc. But the care we take of our inside parts is important too, so the management of body weight as it pertains to fat storage can just be one of those little things you keep in mind each day. No big deal, just a part of your overall habit of caring for your body as a whole.

pjsam1156 11-16-2011 12:18 PM

I'm not going to post my first few weeks, because I was basically maintaining because I wasn't counting my UD cals. This is my first week of COUNTING UDs as well as DDs (I didn't weigh every day):

9-Nov DD 684 153.3
10-Nov UD 1840 ?
11-Nov DD 426 ?
12-Nov UD 1811 ?
13-Nov DD 720 151.7
14-Nov UD 1733 151.2
15-Nov DD 465 150.4
:jumpjoy:

Way to go! :kicking:

jiggles 11-19-2011 06:48 AM

I lost 3 lbs. the first week and 1.5 lbs. the second week. I have about 25 lbs. I want to lose so I consider these pretty decent numbers for myself.

I don't count calories on UD and keep my DDs below 500 (sometimes I only have around 350). With all my years of calorie counting I have a pretty good idea of how many calories are in the foods I eat so I just try to eat reasonable portions on my UDs.

But I think I am going to start counting UD calories at until Christmas (except on Thanksgiving!!) because this is the time of year that I usually pack on some pounds with all the treats & goodies flying around my work. I want my weight to drop this year!

melissaconatser 11-19-2011 06:57 AM

This morning was my 7th weigh-in on JUDDD. I started last Sunday with an UD, coming off of LC on Saturday. My weight on Sunday was 231.4, and my weight today was 229.0! That is a 2.4 pound loss, switching from LC to lots of carbs, and a few days a little over my allowed calories.

cookwithme65 11-19-2011 07:28 AM

All great numbers ladies. I started JUDDD today on a DD. I think I will keep a daily log like yourselves. Now I need to fiqure out how to start a journal on this site so I can keep track of things.

RileyWorm 11-19-2011 09:15 AM

i am going to admit that i gave JUDDD a shot, couldn't stick with it at all, and due to my own fault and nothing related to the JUDDD woe, i gained 5 pounds. (mostly due to too many parties and celebrations, all in a row). now i am doing my own version of calorie cycling and have lost those 5 pounds in two weeks. i still have UD and DD but with my own twists. i'm still lurking about because i love this board!

handbells 11-19-2011 09:18 AM

It's not been quite a week yet, and I can't weigh myself every day, but I feel like my tummy isn't quite as big when I'm sitting down. Only time will tell...3 days until I weigh!

:jumpjoy: Congrats on the losses so far, Jiggles! :high5: Good idea on counting UD calories, especially with the season of excess on its way! (Already here for me! A Tgiving dinner tonight - woo hoo!) :)

Hey RW, I knew I hadn't seen you around in a while! Good to know you're still lurking about :hugs:  So glad you have found a way to do your modification of JUDDD that works for you! I'm curious about how you are doing your UD/DD now? Anyway, visit often! :shake: :hugs:

Sorry, I've been MIA! I also had laser vein surgery in both of my legs so haven't been doing much. I also have to stop exercise for 3 weeks so I was worried about gaining weight so I played around with JUDDD and came up with this: I don't count calories at all, but i do DD (or lower calorie) on Tuesday, Wed, and Thurs (probably about 800-900 cals) and I do MD on Monday (eat low calorie until dinner). Friday, Saturday, Sunday, I don't stress and eat what I want (within reason of course). It has worked so far. I just couldn't do the super low cal required of JUDDD because I would always blow it and I suck at counting calories, lol. Plus it was too hard for me to plan around weekends. So I found a way to make it work for me. I've been eating a lot of whole grain toast, boiled eggs, and tuna on my lower calorie days. I also made a batch of WW brownies (canned pumpkin mixed with cake mix, bake as instructed on cake mix) and I eat those on low-cal days too. On my higher calorie days, I've had cheese fries, cheesecake, fried chicken, etc, etc, so far working great!!

handbells 11-22-2011 05:04 AM

My first week weigh in...down 2.6! I'm very pleased, considering everything I've been able to eat!
