Shirataki Noodles

I am thinking of trying these as I have heard so much about them.

Can anyone enlighten me as how to make them and/or what to put on them?

Or

Should I just toss the idea all together?

Personally I like them. I've never really felt that they fill me up, but they do add some bulk and 'chew' to your recipes with no calories or carbs

Oh I use them really anywhere I'd use a pasta noodle.

I've tried a few different kinds from my Asian store and health food store.

The ones I like best are the green Fettuccine ones by Wildwood Foods (Pasta Slim)
that I got at the health food store.
My second favorite was the angel hair by the same company--
the regular "spaghetti" was too rubbery. I just like the texture of the above 2 better.

The ones I got from the Asian store seemed more rubbery than the Pasta Slim.
However, I got some that were tied in little bundles and instead of untying them
(as I did the first couple times I ate them)
when I simmered them in chicken broth and bit into a bundle
(it looked a little like a shrimp or sea monster of some sort )
I didn't mind the texture at all!

I also like them with Alfredo sauce or red sauce w/cheese.

I have found that they really fill me up for a few hours,
but sometimes it seems like I am DESPERATELY hungry afterwards.
Like, my stomach figured out I tricked it with fake food and is angry!!!

Considering that they have no nutritional value whatsoever,
I have come to be a little reluctant to spend money on them.
"Noodles" made out of spaghetti squash or grated zucchini
have a few more calories but at least have some vitamins in them,
are pretty cheap, and have a nice texture!

I like them quite a bit. I order an Asian brand that's quite a bit cheaper than Miracle noodles; even though they're more rubbery, the money savings is worth it to me.

I use them mainly for Asian-style noodle dishes, although I did make a cheesy sauce last night on my DD (1 TBS HWC in a cup of water with an ounce of cheese melted in, thickened with gluc powder = low cal alfredo), and it was pretty good.

Today, I'm having them for lunch -- shirataki ramen!

If I had to live without them, I could. But since I eat low carb and now am trying JUDDD, they really fill a niche in my diet.

Here is a thread I started about them, with info on how to prepare them and a few recipes.

I like them when I'm trying to keep my calories low, but I burned myself out on them so I haven't eaten them in a while.

I like those, too! They have a different texture, it seems to me. And I really appreciate them when I'm making Pho or something more like Thai food.

I surprisingly ran into some today in the refrigerated produce dept with the tofu at my local grocery store. But, it was only macaroni not the noodle type. Has anyone had the macaroni and how was it compared to the others?

I ask because I made a commitment that I'm not including anything in my diet that I can't readily run to the grocery store and pick up. I want my WOE as simple, inexpensive, "normal" and convenient as possible.

i like the angel hair better also, but i can't eat to many, i usually only eat half the pack. they make my stomach funky if i eat to many
