Low Carb Librarian 11-03-2011 10:52 PM

Oh yes! UD for me! Don't know what I will eat yet. Sure to start off with either oatmeal or a ham & cheese scramble.

I've started doing this too and it works great. I try to get by on hot liquids and a little food (maybe a cup of soup and slice of toast for example) until evening and then I have lots of calories left to use before bed. :)

B - a homemade breakfast sandwich - egg, cheese, bacon on toasted English muffin. Had a craving for this yesterday :)

lots of black coffee

betty301 11-04-2011 07:58 AM

ya, I got the idea from 'the other plans,' and reading the ESE thread. I used to do 1 fasting day a week in the past. ESE and DDs seem to go pretty well together. But on the other hand if I am absolutely famished past my sticking point which is usually 1-2pm, I won't feel guilty having a bowl of soup or something small like that.

betty301 11-04-2011 07:59 AM

CONGRATS, NIK!!! now I get to watch you soar past me in weight lol.

I was going to ask if you plan out your menu for the day ahead of time? It's a big help in getting a good handle on how much to eat at lunch, how much to save for supper, etc.

It's only a bit of work the first time, and then.. that becomes a simple recipe to follow on some future day. After awhile, you end up with a good collection of meal plans, right down to the amounts to serve and the calories the meal provided. At that point, it's easy to mix and match.

Having a menu already planned out helps you be in complete control, because nothing gets left to chance, nothing get out of hand, because you just follow the plan.

It gets easier. Honestly it does. :) :hugs: And then, it becomes such a habit that you hardly have to follow the menu plans at all. It's all sort of memorized.

darlingnikki 11-04-2011 11:04 AM

DD
B- yogurt 35
L-1/2 C rhubarb 13 I GGCrisp bread with WF apple butter 12 1 yogurt 35
S-Spinach soup 23
D- Spinach salad and ground pork w franks 128
D-SF Jello 10

total 256... 92 left over to play with I'm thinking a small skinny latte!

Dottie 11-04-2011 11:07 AM

I keep a box of pure maple sugar candies in the refrigerator (you know, the ones shaped like maple leafs). It's always been a real guilt thing to eat one, even though calorie wise they're pretty minimal (about 30 cals each, pure sugar though) it was always an off limits treat. Well I had one today and they're even better than I remember:)

sophiethecat 11-04-2011 11:07 AM

Dinner is going to be one of those big breakfast dinners we like to do every once in a while. I get to make my sausage gravy! I usually make biscuits, but this time I took the easy way out and bought a couple cans. We'll have eggs and DH will make his from-scratch pancakes.

This will be my first time having sausage gravy & biscuits since spring. On LC, I wasn't sure I would ever have sausage gravy & biscuits again! Life's too short to go without things like that, you know?

Once in a great while I'll fix us sausage & pepper gravy over biscuits too. This is a yummy old-fashioned supper, and I agree with you in thinking it would be sad to think I couldn't ever enjoy that again. We don't have it often, but when we do, we eat up every speck of it!

betty301 11-04-2011 11:26 AM

I hit my hungry wall.
On a DD I would have eaten by now..trying to stretch it out a little while longer, but for what? lol

I know I'm not going to win an award. haha

Doesn't help that I'm watching food network:laugh:

sophiethecat 11-04-2011 11:51 AM

How odd is it that I chose my favorite DD meal for an UD meal  Progresso Lite soup, slices of toasted 35 calorie bread spread with 1 wedge of Laughing Cow.

I like it, plus I need to save plenty of calories for tonight's "brinner" as DS calls it (breakfast dinner).

emky 11-04-2011 12:26 PM

DD for me and I'm done eating for the day b/c I have a busy evening planned with a friend.

Breakfast was sf pudding made w/ almond milk (80), a LC tortilla w/ .5 oz cream cheese (100), and coffee (20) = 200

Lunch was shirataki noodles (40) with sf sauce (60), parama cheese (30), and mushrooms (20) = 150

I also had a coffee w/ a splash of half n half at starbucks (50) and more sf pudding (this time about 100)

Total= 500

kel7298 11-04-2011 01:07 PM

Dottie - You go girl!

Pat and Sophie - Life is indeed to short to not have that every once in a while

Betty - you can do it!

emky - enjoy your evening

So my lunch consisted of a 1/2 grilled chicken salad, ranch on the side (I do this trick of dipping my fork into the dressing, then into the salad) 2 small pieces of fried catfish, 6 french fries and a yeast roll. It was delicious!

Maybe, in a bit, have some kettle corn for snack???

Speck333 11-04-2011 01:31 PM

Down Day:
B: coffee & half and half; almond milk and protein powder shake (171)
L: Mexican pickled carrots, veggie soup (108)
S: more coffee and half & half (44)
D: grilled chicken breast and romaine salad with light dressing (179)

Totals: 20 net carbs, 502 calories

Oh, I love that stuff! That's the traditional Christmas morning breakfast for us. Even on Atkins, I never passed it up on Christmas. You're right, life is too short to not have your favorite things... even on a low carb diet.

betty301 11-04-2011 02:32 PM

I still haven't eaten yet:eek:

I think it's the cold medicine. I'm taking the 'good,' kind of sudafed. It totally dulls everything, including appetite. I can tell I'm hungry and will have something shortly.

Probably leftover soup.
