Basic Egg Cream recipe: :)

2 eggs
2 TBS Heavy cream
1/2 liquid of some sort (I use cold coffee)
Sweetener (I use various Davinci's SF syrups)
A few ice cubes (I use frozen coffee cubes)

Blend in a blender and enjoy. It's not icy, but it is cold. It tastes like a sweet coffee drink. You can't tell that there's raw eggs in it. Those who hate coffee use almond milk or other things for the liquid.

The name, I think, comes from the fact that eggs and cream are the base. It's different than a NY-style egg cream (which has seltzer and chocolate syrup as it's main ingredients, I think).

If you want to read more, check out this thread. Many of the recipes are WAY more complicated than the one I use, but it provides inspiration.

Some folks warm them up, too. I might consider that now that it's freezing cold where I am.

Also, this does make a portable breakfast, too. If I'm not hungry when I wake up, I'll toss everything into a mason jar and bring it to work, where it goes into the fridge until I'm ready for it. Then, I shake the heck out of it and drink up!

sophiethecat 11-02-2011 12:50 PM

Logging 1 Milk Dud. That's not 1 box, I mean 1 piece of Milk Dud candy, lol.

Low Carb Librarian 11-02-2011 02:29 PM

Good job Nik Nik!
:jumpjoy:

UD for me ...

I feel like I am losing control a bit. I need to stop eating so many sweets. I had a work meeting today and I scarfed down (4?) cookies!
Then when I returned to work I saw that someone had brought some kind of homemade treat.... I had some of that!

I guess it didn't help that I didn't eat breakfast this morning... I really have to get back on track.

Low Carb Librarian 11-02-2011 02:30 PM

However, someone that I hadn't seen in 2 months commented on my weight loss... That was a good thing.

No, I actually went on later to have a fun-size pack of Peanut M&Ms. I can hardly believe that small amount had 93 calories?? Darn Halloween candy! *proclaiming in an evil, villainous voice: "It must be desssstttrroyyyed!"

betty301 11-02-2011 03:08 PM

In the spirit of eating candy, lol while I'm getting into this calorie counting thing, I decided that if I can't accurately count it, then it doesn't get eaten.
Bites licks and tastes add up QUIIIICK!!

Dottie 11-02-2011 03:09 PM

I know, it's like 6 pieces. I had one too lol, figured the peanut M&M was better than the chocolate one anyway.

Speck333 11-02-2011 03:51 PM

Off on this! Today, I had my first day in a while where I just didn't eat enough earlier and ended up with a TON of calories to eat later. Mostly because I slept in, I think. I'm writing down the entire day because it's been so interesting to me!

B: Went upstairs planning on my normal breakfast, hadn't realized how hungry I was, grabbed some leftovers (pasta, brocc, chick thigh--maybe a cup and a half total) and ate those, then decided I needed some more protein, so served myself 1/2 c of cottage cheese and a piece of toast with butter and jam (because my mom made bread yesterday and it was hard to pass it up!) I was sooo full I didn't finish the cottage cheese and put away half for later. (11 AM, about 600 cals)

L: Rest of cottage cheese and a banana. (2 PM, 163 cals)

S: (Pre-Workout) A big spoon of cottage cheese and a piece of deli turkey (90 cals, 4:15 PM)

S: (Post-Workout) More of that homemade bread, this time with butter and honey...yummm. (215 cals, 6:20 PM)

S: (When I realized I had a ton more calories and probably should put off dinner for a lil while) 1/2 red pepper, 3 tbsp hummus (105 cals)

Annnnd...here's what I'm planning for dinner to get those cals in

D: 8 oz chicken breast, 1 slice muenster, 1/2 c. elbow pasta, 1/4 c. tomato sauce, 1 c. steamed broccoli, 8 oz kombucha. (8 PM, about 650 cals)

and I also measured in an apple and 3(!!!!!) tbsp of nutella and a square of my sea salt soiree dark choco. AND I had my snack size take 5 earlier.

Total: 2434/2479

honestly, today is one of those days that I'm amazed that it is usually so easy to make my calories!!

I'm going to give the rest of these "fun" size packages of M&Ms to the kids. They aren't so fun to me, lol, when they add up the calories so fast  It's not like it's my favorite candy, anyway. Now, what to do about the mini Twix bars though - I love Twix!

kel7298 11-02-2011 05:40 PM

Woohoo! I did it. Stayed below 1200. Doing the happy dance!!
