a POLL - weight loss on JUDDD?

I see so many losses posted and have experienced my own so thought about taking this little poll. Thought it might be interesting.

1. How much did you weigh when you started JUDDD?

2. When did you start JUDDD, how long did it take before you saw a loss from it, and how much did you lose?

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it?

My responses:

1. How much did you weigh when you started JUDDD?

150#

2. When did you start JUDDD and how long did it take before you saw a loss?

I started Wed. Oct. 12, and by Fri. Oct. 14, I'd lost one pound. The next day, Sat. Oct. 15, I lost another pound. The next day, Sun. Oct. 17, I lost another pound.

So in four days, I had lost a total of 3# and weighed 147#.

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.) why, and what did you do about it?

Yes! I began to eat way too many calories on every UD the following week, and by the weekend, I'd gained back all the weight.

I sat down and did some reviewing and figuring, came up with a more precise calorie range I needed, and began to stick to that.

So, it was like starting over. And therefore:

1. How much did you weigh when you started JUDDD?

150#

2. When did you start JUDDD, how long did it take before you saw a loss from it, and how much did you lose?

Restarted, you might say, on Sat. Oct. 22 and by Mon. Oct. 24, I'd lost 2#. By Sat. Oct. 29, I lost another pound. The next day, Sun. Oct. 30, I'd lost another pound.

So in 8 days, I lost 4# and weigh 146#.

Question #3 not relevant just yet, I don't think.

I see so many losses posted and have experienced my own so thought about taking this little poll. Thought it might be interesting.
1. How much did you weigh when you started JUDDD?

146.75 (weighed on 28th August...started Juddd on the 31st august)

2. When did you start JUDDD, how long did it take before you saw a loss from it, and how much did you lose?

Started with a DD on 31st august....got on scales the next morning, and was down to 143.75. A loss of 3lbs!

As of today, I am 132.75....a loss of 14lbs (1 stone, as we say in the UK!)
In 2 months. My goal is 133 (9 and a half stone), which I made 1 week ago ... so I want to keep close to either side of this!

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it?

I went up after DD's quite a bit..and down after UD's!....and I maintained the same weight for 8 days, despite sticking to a good UD/DD rotation!
I did nothing about any of it really...just stuck to my 1800/500 numbers...though I did plenty of sharing (moaning!) here

Great idea for a thread Sophie...looking forward to everyones posts!

Hugs
Jo

Thanks, Jo. Since you've been JUDDDg longer than me, I didn't know when you started or how your loss had gone, only that you were at goal! So that's interesting stuff.

Adding to mine now since I reached goal 5# lost, all were lost since getting my calories contained 9 days ago.

1. How much did you weigh when you started JUDDD?
240 lbs, on September 5th
This morning, October 31st, I weighed in at 213 lbs

2. When did you start JUDDD, how long did it take before you saw a loss from it, and how much did you lose?
I was a good little girl back then, and tried to only weigh once a week. I weighed myself 8 days after I started and I had lost 7.5 lbs. Kept losing weight at an average rate of 3 lbs a week up til now!

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it?
I had one stall but it was very short and the next week I lost more than average which made up for the frustrating week! I was lucky that I had been doing JUDDD for long enough at that point to just keep with it and see the scale drop as a result.

That is AMAZING loss, Avecrain! Glad that you didn't let a week-long stall distract from your progress!

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it? I had no issues until I wanted to STOP losing weight when I was at goal! I just upped my calories on my DDs and UDs and that did the trick!!

WOE: Whatever plan keeps me around 150 lbs!
1. How much did you weigh when you started JUDDD?

267.8

2. When did you start JUDDD, how long did it take before you saw a loss from it, and how much did you lose?

I weighed in a week after and was 262.8, so 5 pounds the first week.

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it?

I have had a couple of slow downs, but no real stalls. There have been a couple of weeks over the last 7 months where I gained, but then lost that plus more the next week. I've also been diagnosed with thyroid disease (in March) and have been working on getting my medication optimized. While I've been dealing with that, I have put my loss on the back burner. I've still managed to lose a total of 63.2 pounds with JUDDD since 12/12/11. As I've lost a significant amount, I have adjusted my calories down a few times. Once, soon after lowering my calories, my loss slowed, and I had to raise them back up again to get the weight to come off. I just recently recalculated based on my current weight, and put in the age of 40, since I'll be turning 40 in just a couple of months, and am now using those numbers (2000/400).

1. How much did you weigh when you started JUDDD?
182-185, I think.

2. When did you start JUDDD and how long did it take before you saw a loss?

Immediate losses, but I was in the middle of medi weightloss.

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.) why, and what did you do about it?

Same as Sophie's, really. Got down, got hungry, kept overdoing it on UD's and am just maintaining. I got down to about 167 and can't seem to lose anymore. I saw 165/166 a few days, but not enough to call them a low. I'm up to about 169/170, but I'm having an allergy or something...water retention is drvigin me nuts. Anyway, I'm trying to keep my UD's in range now, but haven't lost any (even gained a little), so just trying to figure it out. Trying Zone and I like it because it is kind of how I like to eat, but I still need to cut back on the bread and cheese, I think. Glad to be maintaining though.

I have refigured my calorie range a few times, and it is always the same, so I'm not sure what is going on. I think once I get on my other pill (BCPs), get my allergies in check, and get my thyroid rechecked, I'll be in better shape. Speaking of... I better make a thyroid appt!

2. When did you start JUDDD, how long did it take before you saw a loss from it, and how much did you lose?January 8, 2012 and I started losing immediately. I lose slow so seeing a 6 pound loss in Janaury was OK with me.

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it?
I lost 25 pounds from Janaury to May. I maintained in June and it almost looks like July will be the same. But I am eating lots of fresh produce and fruit from our garden so I am OK with that.

I've only lost 2 1/2 lbs since I began JUDDD in May. HOWEVER, I'm not discouraged. I feel a whoosh coming soon

The reason I'm not discouraged is the many many posts about letting your body heal. I was on Atkins for 3 months, lost 19 lbs, but stalled. I wasn't having fun keeping myself to mainly low carb. Reading about JUDDD gave me hope of living "normal" - at least every other day. And I believe it can and will work for me.

I also went on vacation for 2 weeks and had family visit for 1 week. I gained 5 lbs. (went up to 158) but back down to 153 (where I started) in only 2 DDs.

Also, there is definitely a learning curve with this WOE - learning how my body responds to different foods, and determining what the numbers should be - especially on DDs.

Today was my 3rd DD since getting back, and I'm looking forward to getting on the scale tomorrow and see if more has come off.

with a goal of 149, 13 pounds

2. When did you start JUDDD, how long did it take before you saw a loss from it, and how much did you lose?

March of 2009
I lost after my first DD.
Reached 13-pound goal at 9 weeks, then on maintenance

On maintenance until a few months back. Then upheaval for elderly family members sent me into a setback, not doing my rotations. Needed to lose about 10 pounds again to get back to 149. Lost 5 in June, now have lost 1.5 so far in July.

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it?

Not the first time.
This time a short stall the first of this month, but I overcame it when I realized I had stopped eating enough water-filled vegetables!

Start Date: Aug 2011/I've been maintaining since April 2012
1. How much did you weigh when you started JUDDD? 132

2. When did you start JUDDD, how long did it take before you saw a loss from it, and how much did you lose? Started 1/13/12. I lost 2 pounds the first week, gained a pound the second week, and saw no more losses until week 4, when I finally lost another pound and declared myself at goal (130). Maintained for a while with other stuff going on (see #3), and mid-March decided to lose a couple more pounds to get into a dress for Easter. Lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks (to 126) and wore the dress (see avi). Basically maintaining since then, except I've lost 2 more pounds and am thrilled to be 6 pounds below my original goal.

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it?
I spent a lot of the first 4 weeks experimenting with foods (specifically refined carbs/sugars) to see how my body responded. It wasn't good. I was checking blood sugar and saw lots of high spikes when I indulged (had been eating paleo since Aug 2011 and lost 20 pounds with that). My metabolism was wrecked, I was stalled at 1100 calories per day. So I had some healing to do. When I finally lost the 2 pounds I needed to get to goal, I declared myself to be in maintenance, even though I really wanted to be in the 120's. I just couldn't do it mentally at that point. 2 weeks later, I got the news that I was extremely allergic to milk products, moderately allergic to eggs, and mildly allergic to cashews, sunflower and garlic. Rocked my world. I had NO IDEA what to eat. Those foods were fairly prominent in my paleo woe. So I took 2 weeks off the rotations to process all of that. Didn't gain, but I was eating pretty low cal during that time--I was afraid to eat, I think. Got back on rotations toward the end of Feb and did maintenance levels. In March, I went to visit my mom for a week, and didn't follow the rotations, and ate foods I normally stay away from. Somehow, came home 1 pound less than I went with. On that trip, my Grandmother gave me a beautiful dress I wanted to wear for Easter, but I couldn't zip it the last inch or so. I new 2 pounds would get me in that dress, so I returned to weight loss mode, and in 2 weeks, lost 4 pounds and wore the dress. Returned to maintenance and have been quite happy there since.

I have lately been experiencing an almost total lack of appetite. I get a little hungry, but it doesn't take much to fill me up. I think I could easily be happy with about 800 calories a day. I am trying to keep up a spread between UD's and DD's, but it is so hard. I don't need super low dd's because I don't want to lose right now, but find it impossible to cram in more than 1350 calories (my UD cals should be 1550, dd's around 600-700). I've had 635 today and am so stuffed from supper (which was 3 hours ago) I'm uncomfortable. Digestive enzymes aren't helping with the full forever feeling.

Started on 6/2/12, I weigh myself once a week and lost 2.5lbs that 1st week. Total loss up till 7/14/12 15lbs, I weigh again on Sat - expecting loss of another 2lbs!

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it?

Not much other than the gnawing hunger! Just drank water, green tea and ate low cal munchies like turnips and cucumbers. Did have one slightly slower week with loss of 1lb but it included a day of extreme indulgence!

I was doing LC (30-50 carbs) with Calorie restriction recommended by an on line logging site that I use but I have started to up the Carbs and Calories on UP days. I have to admit it's not just diet, I exercise 5-6 days a week, either a brisk walk for 2+ hrs or swim for 1+ hr. The thing I really like about JUDDD is that it's doable and you don't feel completely deprived. I had ice cream today after 3+ months! And I love my homemade yogurt and tea with milk! Just hope the loss continues. Every body is so helpful and supportive! I am going on Vacation next month too, so I am hoping, I can maintain! If I do put on a few pounds, I know I'll be back in the game. Hurray for JUDDD and it's followers.

1. How much did you weigh when you started JUDDD?

167 pounds

2. When did you start JUDDD, how long did it take before you saw a loss from it, and how much did you lose?

Started JUDDD on 9th June 2012 and two days later i had lost 2 pounds, i've lost steadily since then and as of today, 20th July weigh in at 150 pounds

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it?

Not so far, my losses have slowed quite a bit now but it's so easy to stick to this woe that even after a DD that turns into a MD (like yesterday!) i just carry on with the rotations without getting too stressed about it. At this moment in time i try to keep my carbs below 50-60g a day, i've recently gone wheat free because of internal problems.

WOE: Intuitive/Hunger Driven Now.
Start Date: April, 2014
[B]1. How much did you weigh when you started JUDDD? [B]
My guess is 150-155. I didn't have a scale and I began JUDDDing while lurking here. Didn't declare my intentions for a week or two.

2. When did you start JUDDD, how long did it take before you saw a loss from it, and how much did you lose?

Started officially mid-April, 2012 at 146.6. Lost and gained the same four pounds in the
first month, but motored into smaller and smaller clothing during that month. No idea how that works. Was really happy not to have a scale close by during that time because those unchanging numbers would have made me crazy.
Somehow, during month two, I must have lost about thirteen pounds. Now I hover just below the goal I picked out of the air. At this point I weigh less than I did in high school (I was a pretty conflicted eater by then). Crazy. Wonderful.

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it?

I've had more than my share of UUADs. That's where I head when challenged, stressed, etc. And never on DDs. Those can be difficult (much less so, now), but it's the UDs that are tougher. I could still easily eat 1100 cals for breakfast. I did yesterday! These UUADs definitely create upward bounces for me. They have taught me one of my favourite juddd lessons: Fall off, get back on. Fall off, get back on.
The other huge challenge was hitting maintenance, which freaked me out a bit, internally. I think - I hope - that this is subsiding. It's really weird to have arrived, physically, at a place you've been dreaming of all your life. Left me spinning a bit. Now I ignore it, except to chat with the beautiful wise women in the maintenance thread. I just carry on JUDDDing.
Love, love, love this WOE and this board. I hope passing along our personal info helps somebody new to feel welcome and reassured.

1. How much did you weigh when you started JUDDD? 178 had been doing Atkins

2. When did you start JUDDD, how long did it take before you saw a loss from it, and how much did you lose? Started losing after 1st down day and it has been a downward trend since then.

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it?
Not so far. Had 1st day of emotional eating out of control, but down day fixed that and still lost. I also love that I just got back on. Previously I would have drug this out for a month or two, and gained back everything I'd previously lost only to start over.

6 lbs in first 2 weeks, and 25 lbs total so far (27, but have put back on 3--have kept most off over a year's time).

I have been stalled for several months, and have started eating lower carb along with JUDDD.

Update: Total loss with JUDDD right around 125 pounds, though I've tried several different plans during my maintenance in the last year. JUDDD !!

WOE: Atkins 1/27/12 - 54.5 lbs: JUDDD 9/4/12 - 73 lbs
1. How much did you weigh when you started JUDDD?

262 when I started JUDDD on 9/4/2012. I was 318.5 when I started Atkins on 1/27/2012 - almost 2 years ago exactly.

2. When did you start JUDDD, how long did it take before you saw a loss from it, and how much did you lose?

1st week - down 1.5 pounds
2nd week - didn't weigh (TOM)
3rd week - down 5.5 pounds total
4th week - down 9 pounds total

I'm going on 17 months now, and have lost a total of 90 pounds on JUDDD.

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it?

I've had a few stalls, and experienced some diet fatigue at certain points. Raising my calories and have a maintenance break helped me get over diet fatigue, and also helped my start losing again.

Currently I'm losing pounds extremely slowly, but I feel my body shape changing, and my clothes are slightly looser, specifically in the butt/hips. While I desparately want the WLM to be finished and get on with maintenance, I do realize that the slower these last pounds come off, the better my skin will rebound, so I'm just hanging in there 'til I get to the finish line.

2. When did you start JUDDD, how long did it take before you saw a loss from it, and how much did you lose?

Started July 8, 2013 (6.5 months ago)
Have lost 39.4 lb

1st week - down 3 pounds
2nd week - down 2.6 pounds
3rd week - down 3 pounds

Overall:
30 days to lose first 10 lb
49 days to lose second 10 lb (included 12 days JUDDD pause- out of the country)
56 days to lose third 10 lb
64 days to lose final 10 lb (well almost there!)
5 more to go - at this rate it might take me several months!

3. Did you have any unusual issue with weight loss (gaining too much, losing too much, stall, etc.), why, and what did you do about it?

No major stalls.
I've stuck religiously to the UD/DD schedule, it's very rare for me to go over 2000 in a day, and I have no problem sticking to the DD calories.
I started doing 1800/500, but within 3 months had reduced to approx. 350 DD. At the same time, I increased UD to approx 1925, only because I felt like it.
I might finish more quickly if I would reduce the UD calories, but I'm holding out hope that I can finish off without doing that.
