WOE: HCG, then atkins, now JUDDD, then JUDDD again
Start Date: Atkins, summer 2011: JUDDD, 10/24/2011
Yeah, I'm a nurse too. Scrubs are SO comfy, aren't they! I'm new to this too so don't know if I can shed light except to say I, too, have left LC for JUDDD. Still trying to combine the two. My roommate is still doing Atkins and its working for her. But....I don't know. So far, I'm thinking to do Atkins Light on my UD and maybe following something like HCG (500 calories) on DD. How does that sound?

Isn't that the funniest thing? Excited by hauling home a bag of skinny-making food. It won't be long now. Prepare to lose weight!

Honestly it was wonderful! Thats why I go to the meetings. I get so much support there where as DH doesnt even seem to notice I have lost almost 25 pounds and I am a short woman! Its shows. But thats okay I have yall and I have my meetings and mostly I have myself! I treated myself to some new bubble bath and some flavored coffee and a new little notebook and pens to keep track of my success. Looking so foward to starting JUDDD soon!! I will prolly come in here just to tell yall how great your doing so yall dont forget me in the meantime. :P

Another wanna-join-er here...

A little background about me...

I started LC several years a go. I was over 330lbs, possibly way over cause at that time the scale I brought only went up to 330 and when i stepped on it the first time...it read.."error"..

Well, being in denial as I certainly was,...I immediately took that scale right back to wally-world, walked up to the the courtesy desk and boldly announced.."I want a replacement, as this scale is defected"... A replacement / exchange was given and i went home, defiantly once again, stepping on the "new" scale...and guess what?...*ERROR* again...

It was then that i to my horror had to face the hard cold truth that i was over 330-pounds... Anyway, after 2 weeks of strict and i mean strict low carbing, I almost cried from joy when I stepped back on that scale and it read 329.5!! How much had I initially loss? well I'll never know and it did not really matter cause at least i had a real starting point and I was definitely on my way...

Anyway, fast forward,....after what i call "obsessive" low carbing and exercising, i lost down to 190 within a year and a half. That's where I stayed bouncing between 190 and 200 for a LONG time. In "my" world, 190-ish was "thin", LOL The smaller clothes and on going complements kinda went to my head, which made me way too comfortable.....I eventually lost another 12-15 pounds within another year doing what i called LC-"my way".. I became what my DS affectionately termed a "low carb fanatic"... My kids suffered on occasions, cause if I could not have, they couldn't either. I was on my LC soap box and preached at everyone and anyone!! I became very judgmental in regards to how others ate, especially if they had a weight problem..

Soon though, I began slipping and sliding food wise. I no longer weighed myself either.. The good news is that I continued to exercise every single day no matter what. I power walked mostly and used weights several times per week. One time I actually power walked 10 miles in one day . My usual was 4-5 miles though. I honestly believe that had it not been for my consistency with exercise, my re-gain would have been so much worse. So for that alone, I'm thankful...

Due to many stressful factors, but mainly, stuffing my mouth on a daily basis, i slowly regained a solid 20 pounds over the last 12 months...I'm a Nurse, and i basically live in baggy scrubs, so the re-gain was not immediately noticeable. It was not until I went to put on a pair of my favorite jeans that it hit me..They were snug, way to snug for me to wear in public. I am SO glad that i got rid of all my former clothes, cause I knew i had to get myself back on track asap, or eventually I'd have nothing to wear... The scale came out of the closet and i was both angry and ashamed with myself for putting on those 20 pounds...It was not water weight,..no it was pure fat...

I been back on track LC wise now and have lost 9 of the 20 gained. Its much much harder for me to strict LC this time around. I find myself always hungry and IMHO, eating way too much meat, eggs, cheese, pork rinds daily, just because "i can"... I want to get the weight off and finally reach my goal which is around 160. I feel that JUDDD would be better for me because i want to eat healthier and include foods such as fruits and grains and so on...without feeling bad. I also want to be able to enjoy some of the up coming holidays with my family and friends without beating myself up mentally for having a little of this-or-that. I don't want that all-or-nothing mind set. I want to have balance in my life food wise and after reading the info here, i feel JUDDD can offer me just that...

I brought some of the Atkins shakes, so gonna try those on my DD. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!!
ps: sorry this was so long...

Thanks..
Such an interesting story, Anna. And you are not alone with your story. A lot of us can identify with one aspect of it or another.

Spend as many hours reading here as you can. This site has, and has had in the past, so much discussion, questions and answers, that most everything has been covered from every angle. I'm beginning to feel now if it isn't here, it isn't important. LOL

We have so many people having so much success here, it's a very exciting place to be! And you'll fit right in, very shortly being amazed and excited and laughing about how easy it is to lose weight and eat of anything in the world you would like a taste of next!

Glad you've joined us here.

and glad to see you here! Have you run your numbers through the JUDDD site calculator and maybe even a few more on other sites to see what numbers you should have for your UD and DD? If not, I suggest you do. This way you will KNOW what will work for you. AND if you find that DD number too long, lots of us have upped it some to make it more doable and have still lost fine!

Yes, Pat, ran the numbers on a few sites. I was a good girl!! I feel good about this. Guess the next few days will tell. Maybe it's only my imagination but I feel less bloated already. Could it be?!! Could I possibly be budging from the flippin plateau?!!! Oh, I hope...

I am sooooo scared eating the things I am eating~
Egg mc muffin I made at home...Or a thing of oatmeal....
So scared I hope this works and doesnt do a spin on me I dont want to gain the lbs back that I lost. Agh!

Beep TY ty I tried to get cals in yesterday.

Congrats, Idream on making your goal! Woo-hoo! It's a great feeling!

Thanks SoHappy, Beep, Stardust, SophietheCat and anyone else I missed! I'll need some expertise along the way until I learn this.

I did the calculation on the website and got UD 2077 and DD 415 for my 5'7" frame, goal weight of 140 lbs. I'll shoot for 500 tomorrow my 1st DD. Does this sound about right? I'm not use to eating 2000 calories! Usually, I'm around 1500 but I know things are different now.

Today I feel like I pigged out and ran my numbers on ****** and I'm at 1400. Unbelievable! I'll eat something later because I worked out at the gym tonight after work. Gotta feed for tomorrow's down day.

newbies: Wasted and 2Much, like myself. It will be fun to see how we all do.

Thank you for the warm welcome!!
Today is my beginning and yes, i have to admit that i am kinda scared...And...I don't even know why...

Anyway, I am going to have 3 of the Atkins shakes and plenty of water in between. i also had 2 cups of decaf already...My calories will be around 500 for the day. I need to go back and read and read and read...So much to learn re: JUDDD... No doubt i'll have plenty of questions though...

Anyway, the good news i guess, is that I have to work a 12 hour shift today and that alone will keep me busy, thus tomorrow will be here before i know it.. Wish me luck..

Have a great day everyone and again, thank you SO much...

Anna!!!

So glad to see you here!!

I've been on JUDD for 2 weeks and have shed 5 lbs. If I were still doing LC, that would have taken me...gosh, I don't think I could have lost that amount any more on LC.......just didn't work anymore. Of course, I did HHCG, and lost a majority of my weight there, but those last 10 lbs were my nemesis, so decided to do JUDD!

You will love the freedom JUDD provides and to see the weight come off while eating freely on the UD still has me in awe.

Make sure you do eat your allotment on the UDs, and let the calculator be your initial guide. I'm still experimenting and have pushed the limit a couple of times just to see if I could get away with it, and one time I did and another I didn't, so you have to see what works for you.

Oh, I weigh every day only to see what my pattern is! A lot of folks only weigh after a DD.

So good to see you again!!

OMG how I remember you girlie!!! HOW have you been? I'm still trudging along and thankfully have kept the vast majority of my weight loss off!! I had a re-gain ( as posted earlier) and working on losing those darn 20 ( well, now 11) added pounds that i put on over the past 12 months..

I want so badly to finally reach my goal!!!!! I been doing a LOT of reading here on JUDDD. I realized that i do-not have to starve myself in order to keep my DD calories low.. Right now I have a crock pot of veggie soup cooking. ( can tomatoes, chopped >> cabbage, spinach, celery, peppers and spices cooking in a little chicken broth) I did an exact calorie count and for the entire pot its only 375 calories. I'm guessing it'll yield about a 10 cup batch and I plan on only a cup or two at the most, to have along with my 2 shakes ( initially was gonna have 3 shakes today, but opted for only 2 plus some of the the nice hot soup instead)

Its so good to see you again and I pray that JUDDD works. I feel strongly that it will...once i get used to the pattern and not wanting to beat myself up mentally re: the guilt free UD....

Anna,

That soup is just the thing for a DD and it sounds so delicious!!!

I so know what you mean about beating yourself up for the carbs, etc. Believe me, when you see that scale go down, all guilt is thrown out the window with the bath water.
I'd seen JUDD around LCF for quite awhile and just bypassed it so many times for whatever reason(s). But I'm sure glad I didn't bypass it now.
This plan is so easy and it makes so much sense. Decreasing the overall calories without deprivation. I am absolutely loving it.
A lot of us came from LC or HCG protocol and JUDD seems to be breaking a lot of stalls (at least for me) and the comfort level is phenomenal!

Again, I'm so so happy to see you again!!!

I have to say, coming off of lcing only 3 days ago, that I am still not ready for fruit. I went grocery shopping and, although, I packed the cart with veggies that I wouldn't have even considered last week, I avoided the fruit. Maybe next week. The veggies are a big step THIS week.

I know that on lc you are suppose to increase veggies over the weeks (and therefore carbs, too). What I was doing was a continuation of induction and only had a salad a day. And even living on induction never broke my stall!!

I'm sitting here and eating a big bowl of zuccini/tomato stew (thanks, Pat). So tasty. No guilt. I have to keep telling myself "no guilt" or the usual thoughts creep back. I guess this will get easier, though.

I also have to say a note about energy level. I feel better now than I have in months. I feel good enough to clean my house spotless while I keep busy on my second DD!!

I hear ya. I've been on Atkins Induction since July and many times before that in 10 yrs and lived on salads, meats, nuts and cheese and I cannot get down past 147. I had been stalled for 1 yr straight on Atkins. I sure hope this JUDDD works. Even joining a gym didn't make a iota of difference. In fact, my inches increased since exercise. Go figure! Today is day 1 of DD for me.

This isn't a real recommendation, as we all probably do this a bit differently, but here's what I do for your consideration.

I do weigh each morning, as *empty* as I can get.

I record that weight into ******, but more importantly, I write it down on my calendar, up in the corner of that day. At the end of each week, I add up the weights of those seven days and get the average weight for the week. Then I write that figure down at the bottom of the Saturday date.

Then I do the same for the following week, and compare those two averages. Always a good thing to see weight loss occurring overall, as the weeks pass.

But, OH, MY!! Be prepared for some big bounces up on the scale as well as some great losses as the days pass, because this diet has more wild fluctuations in the scale weight read-out than any I've ever been on.

Boy do I hear that!
I am having to refrain myself from the scale cause I know if I see the numbers going up that's all she wrote for JUDDD.
I want to give it the benefit of the doubt and give my bod time to adjust..So I'ma not peeking at the scale yet.

I can almost guarantee that the scale will bounce up! And down. And up. And down. After awhile, you come to realize that none of it is too reliable from day to day.

Only the average weights of this week being lower than the averages of what I weighed last week and the week before that one.

Half the time, the first two weeks are pretty much just taken up with your body getting used to carbs again, so maybe give it just a smidge more time than that.

But I expect you folks will be getting skinny.

Today is day 1 of DD for me.
How is your first DD going?

Hi Sophie,
I am not a breakfast person and more of a dinner to bedtime eater - wish I wasn't but that's my cycle since born .

So, I decided to hold off lunch as long as I could before getting ravenous. At 2:00, I had 2 cups of spinach leaves w/1/2 cup Purdue short cuts chicken and no calorie Waldens Ceasar salad - not bad and 1/2 can of Select Harvest Southwest Veggie soup which all equals 120 calories. It's 3:30 here and I am a little sleepy. At around 5:00 today, I'll make a turkey breast sandwich w/mustard, lettuce on 45 cal sliced bread. Later, 1 can of soup and have 238 calories left for a later snack.

I'm plugging away but the real test will be tonight. It's an adjustment for sure adding back carbs (and I love that!) but I'm looking forward to tomorrow for my up day. Thanks for asking.

I am quite the same - could skip b'fast easily most days and eat in the afternoon, but come evening through bedtime and look out My dangerous hunger times! And if I'm at all hungry at bedtime, I can't sleep.

It sounds like you're eating smart on your DD - great!

I find that I eat as slow as I can on my DD trying to savour each little bite. Someone said that hunger is the best seasoning! So true!

Let us know how you're doing as the evening goes on.

Hi all! Heating my full can of soup now. Later if I get the munchies, I can have a little snack (I have about 50 calories to use). I might just go to bed early tonight. Not fun watching commercials on TV advertising food all the time. I have had moments of weakness from hunger to tell you the truth and I can't say today is easy.

Keeping busy tonight doing up my menu for the next few days and grocery list for tomorrow's shopping. Saturday, I'm making soup to get ready for Sunday's DD. Tomorrow (Friday) I'm doing a mid-day to keep the same days each week. Planning is imperative to stick to the DD's, for sure.

SoHappy, I think your idea about marking the calendar is a good idea and will implement this. It's hard to believe this WOE can be more flucuating than Atkins has been for me.

How's everyone else's day/evening going?

Did you lose more hair than usual on L/C?

I have thick, waist length hair, and noticed it was coming out when I washed it more than I would usually see...even DH noticed.

Now I think about it...it has been a lot less on juddd!

It went up 6lbs. I am thinking I am going to have to start lc and gradually add in fruits.
