1 C. Chocolate unsweetened almond milk (45 calories, though some of you use a lower-calorie brand)
1/2 tsp decaf coffee crystals
1 tsp vanilla extract
Sweetener (I tend toward liquid sucralose or powdered E/Stevia mix - no fillers, no calories)
2 T. full-fat cottage cheese (25, but if you use FF or lowfat, this would be lower)
70 grams frozen sliced unsweetened strawberries (25)
2 T. SF Hershey's chocolate syrup (15)

Put the cottage cheese in the blender (I use the small Hamilton Beach personal blender, because I don't want my cottage cheese completely blended - if you have texture issues, you might want to use a better blender). Top with almond milk, sweetener, vanilla and coffee crystals. Add about an equivalent amount of ice. Blend well, until the ice is at least mostly incorporated.

Measure the strawberries into the bottom of a nice sized cup (12 to 16 ounce capacity). Drizzle with 1 T. of the chocolate sauce. Add the Almond Milk and top with the next T. of chocolate sauce. Get a Straw (one of those sturdy non-disposable plastic ones that comes in the store-bought cups at Walmart works the best). Or just use a spoon to break up the strawberries and incorporate them into the drink. This is a very individualized process....do it like YOU like it.

You will find that as the strawberries thaw, you get bits and pieces of them in the drink. This is a recipe for taking your time and eating slowly. I also always have an ice-tea spoon on hand to get the pieces that won't fit in the straw. So, I sip some and eat some with a spoon.,

On UD's I add some chopped pecans to the mix for a nice surprise.
yummmmmmmmm.

Dd crepe, tortilla thing

2 egg whites 36 cals
1 tsp of gluc
1 tbsp oat fiber
Salt or sweetner
1 tbsp of low cal nut or coconut milk

1. Blend gluc powder with egg whites... Might be clumpy
2 add oat fiber whisk whisk whisk whisk
3 let sit for 1 min or so
4 add milk 3 cals

Should be pudding like consistency.

Scrap into a Pam sprayed and spread.

This thing should not be watery at all. You should need a spoon to spread it out evenly.

Fry one side till tops is slightly dry and then flip and cook on the other side...

I ate this filled with spinach mushrooms and nonfat cream cheese... Hmmm next time strawberries.

Actually it is the Jiffy from the supermarket. They make a lower calorie version too, but this is what I had on hand. I will be trying the Carbquick after my Jiffy is gone. I know Jiffy isn't the best, but I refuse to throw it out, too cheap I guess!

Gluc Sorbet w/Picture

I made this as an experiment and OMG I'm very happy with the way it came out!! Yummy and cold!!!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Calorie Countdown FF Milk or Nut milk (40 cals or less per cup)
Sweetener to taste, granular or liquid (over sweeten this by some because the gluc tends to suck the sweet out)
SF syrup of voice, to taste. I used strawberry but the flavor possibilities are ENDLESS!!
3/4 tsp Gluc powder
1/2 tsp vegetable glycerin
2 large or 4 small ice cubes

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a magic bullet, blender or immersion blender and blend until thick like pudding.

Freeze until set and looks/feels like sorbet.

Makes one serving......18 Calories

Enjoy!!

We must have been on the same wave length tonight, Beeb. I made almost the exact same thing awhile ago, only I didn't use glycerin or freeze mine. Just made a gluc pudding (raspberry).

I always make gluc pudding and was craving ice cream, thus the recipe I came up with. The glycerin is there to keep it from freezing solid and it's a pretty inexpensive product, too!

mmmmm good. I'm thinking SF Kahlua syrup. It's been years since I had coffee ice cream! Is there a non-online store I can buy glycerin?
If not, I'll have to order it and make it when we get back.

Laughing Cow new flavors

Just fyi, but maybe all of you have seen them, I just bought at my Wal Mart today 'Cinnamon Cream' (45 calories) and 'Strawberries and Cream' (45 calories). Any ideas on how to use them other than smearing them on some Lavash "crackers"?

You may be able to find glycerin (edible) at a health food store, in the beauty/skin care/hair care section.

ETA: the brand I'm thinking of is Heritage Products.
They make Aura Glow & Edgar Cayce formulations.

I actually got a big bottle of glycerin from an Amish market. $7.00 for a pint bottle. I have seen it in most health food stores, too plus places where they sell baking supplies; craft stores, etc.

I have a DD smoothie recipe that is pretty filling and very nutritious :-)

1 bottle Bragg's Ginger Energy drink (or any zero calorie liquid)
1 cup chopped kale (30)
1 box spinach (20)
1/2 banana (50)
1 pear (100)
juice from 1/2 lemon (5)
2 scoops fiber powder (0)
Ice

I also add a green powder- Pure Synergy. Definitely helps with cravings but totally not necessary.

You do need a really good blender like a Vitamix or else the veggies end up not totally blended. It is very good though!

So no picture. I was starving and ate it before I could grab a camera, but I brought two variations on my wrap.

Dd crepe, tortilla thing

2 egg whites 36 cals
1 tsp of gluc
1 tbsp oat fiber
Salt or sweetner
1 tbsp of low cal nut or coconut milk (7 cals in cm)
2 tsp of dijonnaise

1. Blend gluc powder with egg whites... Might be clumpy
2 add oat fiber whisk whisk whisk whisk
3 let sit for 1 min or so
4 add milk 3 cals

Should be pudding like consistency.

Scrap into a Pam sprayed and spread. The thinner the more crepe, wrap like.

This thing should not be watery at all. You should need a spoon to spread it out evenly.

Fry one side and flip

Today I spread a laughing cow wedge and three slices of deli meat

Version 2
2 egg whites
1 tsp gluc
1 tbsp oat fiber
1 tbsp of coconut milk
3 tsps of sugar free syrup of your choice (I used dulce de leche) add more if needed.

Pour into pammed microwave bowl and microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds...
Flip the cake upside and put back into microwave for 10 seconds ( this is to dry out the bottom)

Serve with strawberries and sugar free syrup... If you can spare the calories... Whipped cream is yummy.

can someone explain how one serving has 18 calories... Even if I use low cal milk or nut milk calculations show 35 to 50 calories depending on which milk I use for the entire recipe.... Is it 18 per serving but the recipe yields more than 2 servings?

I have all the ingredients, but want to recreate the 18 cal snack. Thanks.

The recipe calls for a half cup of the milk, not a full cup. The other ingredients are negligible calorie-wise.

My first gluc recipe was a fail. I tried to whisk in just a bit of cold almond milk and it turned into a ball of.......which was stuck in the center of the whisk.
Got everything out and used stick blender but it's not at all smooth; kind of like tapioca.

This morning it is really firm so I think I'll take half and blend w almond milk and a bit more syrup.

I only used 1 tsp gluc and 1 c almond milk but this seems wrong.

Will continue to experiment and search for your best tips.
I have xanthan, so may try a mix.

jem - I sprinkle the gluc over the liquid and whisk very fast, then sprinkle some more glud then whisk real fast until all of the gluc is blended. I have had good luck doing it this way.

Very interesting and toothsome thread

I wondered how you all did your down day.
I noticed that Tilly and Peggy are on the program.
How are you all doing? Do you eat regular LC on the up day?

When I went online and figured everything out,
I think I could have 400 calories for the DD.
Don't think I could survive on that with diabetes?

How are you all doing? Do you eat regular LC on the up day?

When I went online and figured everything out,
I think I could have 400 calories for the DD.
Don't think I could survive on that with diabetes?
Hey, nice to see you here, Barbo!! OK, in the JUDDD book Dr Johnson actually says this may not be a WOE for people with a history of eating disorders or those who have sugar problems.

I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable about diabetes will help here. I think it's because of the low about of calories on the DD that could be the problem?

Here is a good thread that will answer some of the other questions you may have: Want To Know LOTS About JUDDD?
