Oh wow, Dottie!!!!

I realized I could eat a whole bag of Kroger Private Selections Organic Vegetable Medley (100 calories for the whole bag) and still not feel satisfied, at least not for long, until I added about 1/2 cup. Great Value (Walmart brand) 1% lowfat cottage cheese! Or whatever brand. But the added protein helps so much. I just spoon it onto the pieces of broccoli and cauliflower or take a bite of veggie, bite of cottage cheese.

I've learned something new for tomorrow's DD Yes, it will add about 80 calories per half cup of cottage cheese, but it's worth it because it becomes a meal for me, or at least will hold me much longer than the plain veggies and that means I don't have to think about food and feeling hungry for that much longer on DD.

Nice suggestion Sophie
I can't do just liquid DD's, meal-like-foods work well for me I'd say maybe puree the cottage cheese with some mrs dash and top the cooked veggies with it then bake?

Yes! That sounds almost like vegetable gratin, which I love! (I've made eggplant gratin, tomato gratin, of course potato gratin, etc.) All it would need is maybe a bit of tomato sauce. I don't know if it would need a little egg or egg substitute as a binder (if you mix the veggies with the cheese or else layer it kinda like a lasagna). I might try this tomorrow.

A tip: when you're using ground meat on DD's, make it into small meatballs. That way if you're making more than 1 serving, you'll know exactly how much protein goes into each one.
Also, it's more mentally "filling" (for me) to have a bite of recognizable protein in each bite than to have it crumbled through the dish.

Good idea! And you gave me a craving for meatballs, so I had some Progresso Light Italian Wedding soup with the little meatballs! 80 cal/cup.

Sugar free gum helps me some on DD too. Like if I chew a piece after eating or if I just need to extend the time before I eat again. I chew a few pieces usually, one after the other, but the hunger is gone despite my tummy rumbling. I like Trident. <5 calories per piece.

I have recently added Boca vegan burgers to my lost of staples. They are 70 cal/2 net carbs each. Add a laughing cow, a smear of lite miracle whip and wrap in a green lettuce leaf and you've got a nice li'l cheeseburger for just over 100 calories.

ETA: I have also discovered that I quite like Knorr vegetarian vegetable bouillon cubes...so portable to just keep a pack in your purse for when you're out and about on a DD. One large cube is 30 calories. I use 1/2 cube to about 12oz of hot water.

LEAN CUISINE Steak Tips Portabello (in a burgundy wine sauce with broccoli). 150 calories.

Just had one of these. Not bad, especially seasoned with DD hunger I also like that it has 15 g. of protein, which is the minimum I try to get in on each DD meal to help with satisfaction and hold the hunger at bay. It also has 14 g. carbs minus 3 g. fiber = 11 net carbs for those interested.

A shrimp cocktail ring. I bought a half ring, which is 25 shrimp plus cocktail sauce. Just thaw and it's ready to eat. It says 25 shrimp is about 2.5 servings and each serving is 110 calories, but they are assuming you will have 2.5 T. cocktail sauce with each serving.

I'm having a Great Value Lean Cafe frozen dinner = Salisbury Steak & Mac & Cheese. 260 calories.

This isn't a bad little DD meal! I definitely had to add salt to both the mac & cheese and the steak, but it's a great comfort food meal on a rainy day like this. I love that it's 25 g. of protein too!

I make bone broth, too. I make beef and chicken broths mostly. I roast the bones and then cook at least for 24 hrs.

Do you use these on your DD days? If so, how are estimating the calories?

I must try the miso idea!
