This is exactly sort of situation I was thinking about; the word "missionary" was in my head, but "humanitarian" was the one I wanted! But, yes, I was visualizing living where the food supply, refrigeration and other resources are limited...and what would you do? Say, "I cannot eat your rice and beans and bananas and sweet potatoes! You must bring me half a pig!!!"?

How many hear could manage killing, gutting and plucking your own chicken in order to have dinner that night???
The squeamish factor comes in to play, but if you have to feed yourself like that ( be your own butcher and gardener) , I'm sure your caloric intake might go way down. ![]() I hear rabbits are good apocalypse food so long as you have lots of extra fat, so don't go eat the cow just yet, we need her milk fat!! and a Duck Pond... heard a documentary about a journalist turned small farmer, and teaching his kids about farm life including the butchering part. His kids had come up with some really fancy smancy names for the two pigs, I can't recall but lets say Beethoven and Bach just for the heck of it.The Guy overheard his kids showing off the pigs to visiting relatives and they said, "This one is Beethoven and that one is Bach, but when Fall comes, This one's Ham and that one's Bacon!" |

I posted my own thread earlier, but I thought I'd post here too since I'm a newbie! I am switching to JUDD from the Hcg diet, so I'm really excited! Yesterday was my first JUDD day, and I started with an Up day. Today was my first Down day, and it went well! I was slightly hungry here and there, but not too bad. My calories came to 575 today, which I plan to stay lower than that..but I wasn't as prepared food wise as I thought! My calorie breakdown should be 2000/500, so we'll see how that goes!
Anywho, I look forward to going on this JUDD journey with you all!! ![]() ~Maudie |

Hello I'm on my first up day and feeling good and not really too hungry because I know if I want something I can have it today or the day after tomorrow. I put a dress on today that I've not worn in 2 weeks and it's tight so that's real motivation right there!!

Hi, everyone. I've always been 20-30 # overweight. I initially blamed it on the kids (what else?!) But now entering my 50's.....can't really blame it on the grandkids, can I?
Atkins did well for me but I never really followed any maintainence so just bounced right back up again. This time, though, thought that when I reached goal I would actually continue Atkins as my WOE. However, I think I missed my Golden Chance or whatever Atkinites call it. I plateaued almost immediately. Ate great....loved the food....never hungry.....NO Weight Loss!! So, found LCF and just started reading. And after an additional month of no weight loss, took the plunge with JUDDD!!! Had my first DD yesterday. Started with Shakes as per JUDDD website. Managed through it but, OMG, major hunger....tons of water....early to bed!! I've been reading recipes and I think I'm going to go shopping (both physically and online!) Shirataki noodles and veggies....Oh yeah!!! Btw, happens my daughter works at Trader Joes! You all have been so encouraging and I leave this window up on my puter all the time. I may be obsessing but I think it's a good, healthy obsession. I only have about 15 or so pounds left (baby weight from ONE child 30 years ago!) and am so glad I have found all of you.........................thank you! |

Welcome to everyone!
I hear you 2much me about the Golden chance. I used to not believe it ...but maybe it is just that as I keep restarting LC I am getting older...but it does not work as well for weight loss! That is why someone is literally going to have to hold a gun to my head to quit JUDDD. JUDDD may not have a golden shot...but just in case, there is no way I am not going to get this right on my first try. I am very jealous of your secret "in" with Trader joe's! I don't even have one in the area. Sigh. I had an "in" with my younger sister when she worked at the Disney store. My daughter was always decked out head to toe in Disney fashion when she was little. ![]()

I'm one who didn't think I could do JUDDD, but I've been researching on here and on the JUDDD site and have decided to give it a go. I had my first DD yesterday and managed to do 510 cals. It wasn't so bad except I tried to drink my coffee once with Coffeemate to reduce the calories and then with almond milk. Yak!!! I love my heavy cream! Everything else I ate was fine, though. And I was really surprised that I love the unsweetened almond milk by itself.
I thought I would be miserable on my DD, but actually, even though it was the first one, it wasn't bad at all!

Shirl lol. I did coffee black for the paleo challenge and I just wasn't enjoying it, so by the time I started using almond milk, it tasted heavenly compared to black

I'm going to give Judd a try starting today. I reached my goal of 115 a couple of months ago but now I'm up to 118. I don't have much to complain about but that 3 pounds are really noticeable! My thighs are pointy again. So at 30% i get 450 on DD and 1500 on up days. Today I'll have my coffee with half and half, 2 Premier Nutrition protein shakes, and my Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride tea I haven't tried yet. I'm nervous about my willpower for DD but excited to try this out!
I'll be reading all the threads and looking at your menu ideas for Down Days.

I choked down two cups of black coffee just so I wouldn't wake up with a caffeine headache!! Probably why I went to bed at 8:30!!! Yeah - Big coffee drinker here!!! And I love it creamy!! Enjoying a cup with cream (1T) on this, my UD, as I type this! Haven't tried almond milk yet but as I said I need to do some shopping. I really thought the shakes were going to hold me but alas....NOT!! Need real food for DD.

Yay! Another new member of the JUDDD club. Welcome!
Reading over all the threads and discussions here is the easiest way to learn all about JUDDD quickly. Almost any question any of us could have has been answered here, and lots of interesting discussion about the various facets of this calorie restriction-calorie cycling concept discussed to, so this is an interesting place to be besides it being so dynamic with success and joy! ![]() ![]() |

I've decided to use real food for JUDDD because I know that is something I can sustain. Can understand why shakes are better for some, though...time saving...don't have to weigh and measure, etc. |
