Hi Everybody!
I'm Karen from Ontario. I'm 52 and like many of you here, have been trying to ditch this excess weight for decades and have only more pounds to show for my trouble. I've been lurking the JUDDD threads and have been inspired by Dawn's amazing success to begin my own journey using this WOE. I was attempting low carb again but life with the new pea in my pod has made food restriction well, too restricting. I'm no longer sitting at home anymore but I'm out and about enjoying life with my new fella ... including lots of delicious wine. ![]() I'm still low carbing it on DD but am thrilled that I can have my wine and drink it too on UD. I've also been missing my green smoothies that I make with coconut water as a base. It'll be grand to have those back in the rotation. And sweet potatoes! I love sweet potatoes! What I find so thrilling is that many of you are in my age group AND succeeding! I believe that I've finally found the WOE that will help me achieve my goal weight. I tried a DD out last Saturday and I did really well ... much better than I thought I would. I didn't experience any devastating hunger and I seemed to have more energy than normal. I wasn't quite ready to commit to the program though until yesterday, which was an UD for me. Today's weight was a surprise for me as I was 235.6, 3 lbs lower than yesterday. Go figure. I've armed myself with DD foods -- egg whites, white fish (basa), turkey pepperoni, light babybels, tuna, veggies, almond milk, protein powder, berries. On UD, I'll be eating my 'normal' low carb foods that are higher in fat but will include, without guilt, some wine on weekends and sweets on special occasions. What freedom! ![]() This site is AMAZINGLY supportive, positive, warm and welcoming! Nice to meet you All! ![]() |

Karen! I'm so honored that you've chosen to do JUDDD in some part because of my story. I can't tell you how amazing this plan is, how simple and yet rewarding, and sustainable! I just turned forty, but I also have thyroid disease, so I have my own set of challenges which seem to have not really slowed my loss too much on JUDDD. My best advice is just to do the rotations the best you can without too many tweaks along the way, and make sure you get enough on the UDs to carry you through on the DDs. It's really that simple! And I enjoy a good glass of wine or three ~ just every other day. ![]()

Hello Karen, and
! So glad you found us. It's an amazing group, you're right. They've been instrumental in my getting started and staying on JUDDD for over a month so far.I'm with you on the wine (and my fave vodka gimlets!) It's so nice to be able to have those again after LC! I look forward to hearing how your journey progresses! |

I've been known to be too strict with myself, so I took a "maintenance break" at the end of May and through June to sort of recalibrate and relax a bit. It was scary for me because I wasn't sure I'd want to go back to the lower DD numbers, but honestly, when I felt rested, my body just sort of naturally returned to the lower DDs and WLM. I'm taking another maintenance break this month, but I'm eating to satisfaction on DDs and have still been pretty low, though higher than my usual less than 400 calories. Of my 92.8 pounds total loss, 83 of that has been from JUDDD since December 12, 2011--10 months today. I couldn't be happier! HTH! |

Thanks Cindy and Kristin.
![]() I've been entertaining visitors and just had a blown DD followed by a well-up UD. Incredibly, my weight came down 0.2 of a lb. ![]() However, after another well-up UD today, I'm not looking forward to weighing tomorrow. ![]() Ah well, tomorrow is a DD and I can practise what I preached .......... ![]() |

Shanan, thank you for asking those questions, I love seeing Dawn's answers. Too many people think that JUDDD is easy. It isn't always. But if you do it as it should be done it will work. Dawn is an example to us all.
Kh, welcome to JUDDD, it is a happy place, and somewhere most of us lose that troublesome excess weight. Enjoy your new friend and the glass of wine or two. |

Hello everyone!! I've been lurking on the JUDDD forum since last week and reading alot of posts about JUDDD. I decided to give it a try. Yesterday was my first day, a DD, today is an UD. I've been low carb since May and lost about 23 lbs, but since July, the scale won't budge, no matter how strict LC I go, so after reading so much about JUDDD and all the success stories, I'm giving it a go. The good thing about it is that I already do LC, so my plan is to continue LC along with JUDDD, because LC seems to keep my appetite suppressed fairly decently. I also am not a breakfast eater, so DD should come fairly easy for me, since I usually only eat 2 meals/day anyway. Yesterday was OK to start off as a DD, but I noticed this morning I felt really excessively hungry and had to eat at 8:00 this a.m. some nuts I had intended to have to go with my lunch. Oh well
So much for thinking I could make it til lunch. I think it might be better to eat a snack on my UD in the a.m. if I feel hungry, since the whole point of the UD is to feast, right!? I mean, I shouldn't be letting myself go hungry on an UD. I wonder if any of you still experience hunger on your Up Days and just ignore it til lunchtime, if you typically are not a breakfast eater?? Anyone here try to wait it out til lunch, or do you eat when you are hungry on your UD? TIA

!I think you'll find, in time, you actually will have very good appetite suppression on UDs. It seems to happen to a lot of us, where we forget it's an UD sometimes until lunch, and then have to be creative to get all our calories in. Eventually, this levels off a bit for most, and you just settle into the routine of UD/DD rotations. You'll also find what works best for you. If you normally don't eat breakfast anyway, I suspect after a few rotations, your body will head back to that routine. Or you may find you need to eat an UD breakfast just to get all your calories in. It's a great WOE! |

Dawn, Thanks for the info, and I suspect you may be correct. Of course I expected I would be in an adjustment period for at least a couple of weeks. I am very excited to be starting JUDDD, because I think it will be perfect for me. BTW: my name is Dawn, too
Not to confuse everyone out there!!! Just call me Dawnie, that's what my Dad has called me since I was a little wee girl!!![]() |

Dawnie, I am so pleased that you have chosen to give JUDDD a try.I do hope you have eaten something delicious by now. As you say there is no point in feeling hungry on an UD, certainly not first thing. I don't know how you ate on the day before your DD, we generally recommend an UD first so that you feel sated and are full of lots of nutrients. You will find lots of LC JUDDDer here. Don't be too strict though as you should be getting plenty of vegetables in and hopefully more fruit than you have had for a while.

Cindy, Thanks for the welcome. I did eat some peanuts and cashews so far, and that has put the stomach growling at bay for now! I am actually looking forward to LC/JUDDD because I want to incorporate more fruit into my WOE (I like a variety of fruit and do miss having it). I eat lots of veges already, so that won't be difficult. I ate a goodly amount of food on Sunday before I started my DD yesterday, so I was nice and satiated to begin a DD.

It's funny, because I live in a very small town in Maine, and there's no other Dawn here. It doesn't seem to be common, for sure. |

Okay, here's my weird "name" story. I was born in the afternoon, so no cool "born at daybreak" story there. My father wanted to name me Donna and my mother hated that name. She wanted to name me Victoria. They initially settled on Victoria Dawn, but then realized what that would make my initials!
So then, it was flipped to Dawn Victoria. I actually went by Victoria until I was 6. I had a friend named Victoria who was murdered, so then I thought I had to change my name or I would get murdered too. Kid logic. Anyway, I'm happy there are other Dawns around now. ![]() |
