Okay, I am nervous to start JUDDDing. At 55, every pound I've lost has been such a struggle. There have been weeks at a time I've consumed under 1200 calories and not dropped one tenth of a pound. I know, I know... you'll say my metabolism is screwed up. And it probably is. After finally jumpstarting a teeny bit with the Dukan diet (lean protein and veggies w/ some 0% dairy, very low fat, not counting calories per se, but I suspect they've still been low), I'm OD'd on that and ready to do something new.

But the fact is I can't BEAR the idea of a post UD weight gain! The thought of getting on the scale and seeing one, two or three of those hard-fought pounds back, even knowing in my logical mind that it's probably temporary - I fear it will upset me to no end. I guess that's the problem when it's been taking you 2-3 weeks to lose one single pound (with the exception of the very beginning and very recently). And since some people have happy scale moments after DD's, while others seem to have them after UD's, I don't even know if weighing every other day will help assuage my fears.

But I want to try JUDDD for so many reasons. Can you please alleviate my fears? According to the calculator, my calories would be around 340/1750.

Good morning to all. This is day 11 and I'm down 4.5 pounds! I went over a little on my DD Friday..supposed to be 514 and 2000 on UD....but it didn't seem to matter..whew! Since Friday was DD I struggled a little with energy in my fitness class Sat. Morning...we do a lot of stairs, body weight and skipping or running laps around the building. It was a particularly tough class granted but I ran out of steam early. Since I'm new to JUDDD does anyone know if this will get better - the energy part I mean? I didn't feel light headed..thank goodness cuz the stairs are steep and quite high....so it wasn't like low blood sugar...just felt drained earlier than normal.

I totally understand what is going on in your head, Buttah. My personal recommendations:
~ Weigh in only once a week and only after a DD. HIDE YOUR SCALE IF YOU HAVE TO!!
~ Take all of your measurements once a week when you weigh.
~ Try on a favorite pair of jeans or capris or skirt or shorts once a week when you weigh.
~ Visit the NSV thread (Non Scale Victories) on a daily basis.
~ Follow your rotations. Write down cals every day. Even 500 cals on your DD most likely will do the trick if you don't feel you can do the 20% level. (Many women can attest to this)
~ Be patient with yourself. And be kind to yourself.

Best to you!! And remember we are here for you.

WOE: A little of everything
Start Date: January 1st, 2014
Hi everyone!!!

I just began JUDDDing at the end of June. I read tons of posts on here. Did a little online searching too and decided to give it a go.

Earlier this year I was blessed with my adorable little daughter. With her came 75+ pounds that I gained by just eating whatever and how ever much I wanted during the pregnancy.

I lost about 40 on my own but decided to give JUDDD a try for the last 35 or so.

I am still nursing so I don't stress if my DD is at 500 - 1000.

This WOE is something I could do forever. Right now it's fun and exciting. The people here are just wonderful and it helps to gather all the "best practices" of everyone else to figure out what might work for me.

So Happy Weight Dropping to everyone!!!!

WOE: LC/JUDDD
Start Date: Feb 2012
Hey all. I have been reading here off and on for a while. It is probably overdue for me to join in the fun. I am not new to LC or JUDDD, I think I bought the book about 4 years ago. That was after I had been on the plan for a few months and had lost more than 30lbs on it. It was also after having converted both my hubby and my mother to this WOE. In my first go at it I eventually lost more than 50lbs. It was around the time that the economy tanked and let's just say life got rough and I gave into the pressures and stopped eating right. Fast forward a few years with some LCing, but too much eating whatever, whenever. But, that's in the past. NOW, we are back on track and have been losing pretty well over the last few months.

DH and I have been doing a modified version of JUDDD. I started near the end of February and I am down just over 30lbs. Hubby has lost 35. But we have a loooong journey. I really think this WOE is the only one I could commit to on a long term/permanent basis. We do our DD on MWF and we walk 2-4 miles most days. What we have been doing different this time is doing low carb on our down days; sort of a mix between Atkins Induction and a normal JUDDD down day. We try to keep our calories fairly low...but this time we place the most emphasis on keeping our carbs low. We eat plenty of white meat, green veggies, eggs, nuts, etc. Our most frequent down day meals are LC Taco Soup, crockpot rotisserie chicken, grilled chicken salads and omelets.

In our first attempt we focused more on the calorie count than the protein/LC aspect. This time the DD are a lot more doable because I'm not starving. If I am hungry, I will just go ahead and eat some lean protein without stressing so much about the calories. So far it is working. Like someone mentioned above...if it stops working we may have to get more vigilant about the calorie counting. We will cross that bridge if/when we need to.

I want to thank the members here for some great food ideas. I have tried some of the flax muffin and flax cracker recipes I have seen posted here and they have gotten me through some rough DD. I don't think I could have come this far without the MiMs and Hungry Girl's Egg Mcmuggins.

Well, I have gone on long enough! If you have gotten this far, thanks for reading my wordy intro. lol

New & Low carb!

Hi...New here. I just started. I was on PSMF for 8 months and lost 85 lbs. I gained 20+ back and have been able to maintain weight since December. I have a low thyroid and can't lose weight on low carb alone, altho on lo carb I FEEL GREAT. (I must have a wheat sensitivity). The down day is only about 100 claories less than a PSMD day which I have done for 8 straight months, so this should be a lot easier!

I read the Diet Cure and started taking suppliments to curb carb cravings and other stuff...which btw...works for me. The low carb/low fat PSMF must have depleted my body because I was like a crack addict for carbs after I was finished.

I now want to finish the rest of my weight loss journey! I have about 40 lbs to go!

Wish me luck!

I will try to make this fast lol. I did atkins in 2002-3 at 174 and lost 40lbs did it in 2009 at 179 and lost 35lbs I started off and on many other times but gave up for various reasons. Got up to 194 and was frightened of being so close to 200lbs so started atkins again on june 28th. I initially got down to 188 the first week then for the next 3 weeks went from 188-190 back and forth. Sooo discouraging. So I read about JUDDD and did my first DD YESTERDAY. I weighed 189 on Sunday. I decided to wait until dinner to eat and I am pretty sure this is what I will continue to do. I had a 12 oz pork steak grilled and 3/4 cup of zucchini sauteed in olive and truffle oil for a total of 555. Pretty close lol. My calculator said 398/1989 but im going for around 500/2000. I have a very physical job so I will see how that pans out. Anyway I weighed this morning and was 185! Wow talk about getting unstuck! 4lbs is awesome. I know it will probably go up tomorrow after my UD but I am still very excited!

Newbie & finished day 5 - weight gain this morning

Hello everyone! Thank you for this group because this is how I discovered the JUDDD diet. I've done it all - Atkins, HCG, Medifast and Wonderslim. I couldn't believe I never heard of JUDDD. Today is day 5 on the diet - today was an up day. Today I had a slight .2 gain (weighed 1st thing before eating).

I was very intrigued with JUDDD because 500 calories is not difficult for me as long as I have the freedom to eat what I like for those 500 calories. I actually find the eating 2500 calories the difficult part (and it makes me feel disgusting and bloated). I plan to only weigh myself the morning *after* a down day. I was just taken off my Armor Thyroid because my new doctor feels my labs show my thyroid is functioning normally again. I hope this isn't messing with my weight loss.

I have about 20 lbs to lose. I am a long time Atkins low carber (only going on the diet to lose 10 lbs here and there). I had a baby 3 years ago and diagnosed Hypothyroid making weight loss difficult, even on Atkins. So, I did 2 rounds of HCG - faithfully. My husband lost 30 lbs in 25 days in ONE round of HCG. I lost 10 lbs in round 1. Round 2 I lost about 8 lbs.

HCG is difficult because of the FOOD restrictions - not the CALORIE restrictions.

I did Medifast for 1 week a few months ago and lost about 5 lbs. It was easy and the food was just OK (probably why I didn't overeat). However I had raging migraines every day and 2 weeks after I stopped the food. Apparently Medifast is all soy (with a few exceptions). Soy binds to estrogen receptors and my doctor said to stop. After stopping my migraines subsided.

So I found Wonderslim. Their Chocolate Pudding shakes are fantastic and 100 calories and 10 grams of protein. So when I read about JUDDD and the down days - I thought what a perfect match. I can have 5 of my wonderslim pudding shakes on my down days!

I track all my food on *********** and have been even prior to JUDDD.

Stef, I have to ask, do you do a crazy amount of exercise? Your calories sound way off to me. I only get 2000 calories on an UD and I'm taller, heavier, and only slightly older.

Mostly, it's recommended to use the no exercise option unless your really exercise a lot, and hard. The other thing is, sometimes when people put their info into the calculator, they don't change the stats from kilos to pounds, etc., and it gives you a huge amount of calories.

You may have it all entered correctly, but I just want to give you the best start, so I thought I'd ask you to double check.

Hi Erika, Kimberly and Kissa! Thanks for the welcome! So far I am doing well on my 2nd DD. Yesterdays UD was a killer LOL I got off work late and after a busy day still had over 1600 calories to eat so went to the grocery store and even though I had originally planned on doing both UD and DD low carb I had to buy stuff for dinner that was high enough calories. So we had ribeyes (big ones), mashed sweet potatoes with butter, brown sugar and cinnamon, steamed brocolli with melted butter and I got a coconut cake and moose tracks ice cream to push myself up the last 800 or 900 calories. I was totally stuffed. Weighed in this morning at 186.2 which is nowhere near as bad as I expected! I think I am going to continue with low carb for down days since they do make me hungrier. I am starving this morning. I wait for dinner... once I eat for the day I get hungrier so I would rather just eat a good meal late in the day.

My first UD, I couldn't get past 1000 calories due to fullness from constipation and Metamucil. It's supposed to be 1750. And this was coming off a clean 500 calorie DD. How bad is it that I didn't even come close to "normal?"

Don't worry, this is not a race, you will do better when your body has adjusted and things are moving again.

Keep doing your rotations and it will get easier and you will soon be handing out the advice you crave just now.

I know this will work for you Buttah!

Stephs, you will see results soon enough I am sure. Keep us posted please.

Thanks KeirasMom! I went back to the JUDDD website and re-ran my numbers. That calculator is tricky and I think I didn't realize that it automatically had changed my inches to centimeters the other day and I thought I typed wrong - so I corrected it. Thus it gave me higher calories allowances.

SO - I have the correct numbers now - 1967 UD / 393 DD. I think I may still stick to 500 on the DD since it appeared people on the forums said they lost better when they were closer to 500 on DD's.

Thanks again for the good eye KeirasMom!

Hi stef I am also new to JUDDD and our stats are very similar we are the same age too. I am just a little taller. I saw your calorie numbers and they looked alot like mine so I checked your stats. I am just making it easy, 2000 UD and 500 down day. If I don't lose well then I will try the calories they calculated. I started Atkins again the end of june at 194 and only got to 188 for weeks.started JUDDD monday so this woe has really jumpstarted my losses! How are you doing your rotation? Are you UD or DD today?

500 on DDs is perfectly fine. Some even stay higher. Then, when and if you're able, you can always lower them.

Thanks Dawn! I was worried about the numbers a bit but wanted a nice round number to shoot for. I hit 555 the 1st down day and today is DD#2 and i will have 419 in for the day. I did not quite hit 2000 yesterday but got to 1941 with a huge gut busting dinner it was amazing how hard it was to get close on the upday. Today I just waited until dinner and am having a big salad with grilled chicken cucumber and baby portabello mushrooms cesar dressing and grated parm. it is 419 cal. The main reason today was hard for me was because i am off work today so I thought about it alot more! i made it though!

Hi sweetlady - yes our stats are very close! And we are at almost exactly the same current weight.

Today was a DD - I did good and went just a little over 500 (and it was with something good that I went over --- a spinach smoothie with some strawberries and 1/3 apple). What day was today for you?

Stef I was DD yesterday did 419 cals. Today is the UD. So far had a french vanilla cappicino and a multigrain blueberry muffin. I tried to do my UD's low carb but was having trouble hitting my calories. Does anyone have any suggestions for this? I am worried about the carbs. Weighed 184 this morning after my DD yesterday
