hi everyone!
i was thinking of starting JUDDD but have a few questions: 1) I am coming off HCG (500 cals) -- do you think JUDDD will make me gain because I am increasing the calories so much on up days? 2) Do you remain low carb on JUDDD...does it affect weight loss if you don't? i am REALLY nervous to start. |

Hello, Atkins refuge here.
I have been on induction for a month, my weight went as far down as 172.8 and then I started gaining steadily and now I am back up to 176. I've been reading about JUDDD for the past hour, and it seems like my kind of plan. Very excited to get started! Do you think I should start w/ a UD or DD tomorrow? I've been eating LC today. Should I jump right into the WOE with two feet? |

Canadiandina!People usually start with an UD to nourish their body for their first DD. Sometimes they gain and sometimes not - everyone's different. I myself didn't gain, and lost 2 lbs after the first DD. Actually, I didn't weigh after the first UP - afraid to look. ![]() I, like you, was VERY nervous to eat so many calories, coming off of 500 to 800 calorie days. You can absolutely eat whatever food you choose - it's totally your choice. Some stay with low carb and some don't. Some may have found it affected their weight loss - again, everyone has a different experience. Maybe they'll chime in here and tell theirs. I came off a month of low carb, and dived the first day into carbs with no problem. You can try what you think is best for you in the beginning and tweak it later if you need to. Search the threads here and you'll find most of your early questions already answered. You may want to use the "no or little exercise" numbers on the calculator and many do the first two weeks with 500 for DD's, which is what I do. Post on the June weigh in and let us know how you're doing. JUDDDers will help you.

Hi Canadiandina, welcome to the happiest place on LCF.
Yes, start with an UD and enjoy those food you have missed. I am guessing that you will see the scales jump up but that will be mostly water from reintroducing carbs. As you weren't on Atkins for very long it may not happen, but don't allow a higher number on the scales to unhinge you! Here on JUDDD we have to remember, 'the scale, she bounces'. It seems you have done some work and know what numbers to start with, so you should soon be celebrating. |

otobthin!Be sure to read the threads WHAT IS JUDDD? COME INSIDE & SEE!! and maybe QUESTION FOR FORMER HCGers, if you haven't already. You can continue lc if you want to on JUDDD - your stats are very similar to mine. (I'm 63 and got up to 209 last year.) I love JUDDD after only one week. If you try it, post on the June weigh in thread if you want to. JUDDDers will answer your questions if you don't find answers you need on the threads. Good luck! ![]() Last edited by Heather; 06-15-2012 at 01:53 PM.. |

Hi. I'm new here and to JUDDD. I have been reading all the posts and am anxious to start. I have done 3 rounds of hcg and released 57 lbs. I still have about 15-20 lbs to go before I am totally comfortable. I am currently in phase 4 at 67 days and all of a sudden my weight is slowly creeping up the scale. Only 5.4 lbs over my lowest weight, so I thought I'd give JUDDD a try. I am vegetarian plus fish (pescetarian) which gives me a bit of a challenge with the protein. I've read all about it and I really love the fact that this WOE reduces inflammation. My husband will join me on this journey. I love reading the shares here and have learned so much already. I welcome any information to help me along.

Hi beadart and

I'm new to JUDDD also, started last Friday. I'm an old-time low carber and been low carbing since 2006. I lost 100 pounds and then stalled, and stalled, and stalled, and stalled - we're talking about a 3-year stall, although I still had at least a hundred more pounds to go. I've tried various things and nothing has worked. I only just learned about JUDDD last week and decided right away that maybe it was the thing for me.
A few people I ran into online who were trying it said that they did their DDs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and their UDs on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. That sounded like a great plan to me to I dove right in with a DD on Friday. I'm still new and feeling my way. I still have the philosophies that have worked well in making me feel better - no processed foods, no "fake" foods, nothing with more than 5 or 6 ingredients, LOL. Naturally I can think of lots of good stuff to have on the UDs! Less so on the DDs but it hasn't been hard. I finished Friday with 437 calories. Today I am at 481 so far though I might have a small snack later. I've enjoyed a few good veggie stir-fries. I really hope this may break my stall. Clearly too soon to tell, but I'm looking forward to my next UD tomorrow. ![]() |

I've been on Low Carb Friends for ten years and decided to try JUDDD to get rid of the weight I've managed to regain in the last few years.
![]() This is my second day and I survived my first DD with no problems. In fact, it was much easier than I had envisioned. My plan is to do DD M,W,F with Sunday a "medium" day. I've read a lot of these posts and don't think this will be "impossible". Looking forward to being pro-active again! |

I started JUDDD yesterday with a DD and came in at 435 calories and 31 carbs. That's a lot of carbs for me and was kind of afraid that I would be hungry today.
But today is my first UD, not hungry, and I can see that my first problem is eating up to my calorie level. I've had breakfast and lunch and only up to 600 calories - according to Dr. J. my normal is 1718. So I'm going to eat a fatty dinner to get those calories up. I would be happy if I could get up to 1500 calories. Wish me luck! ![]() |

Beadart, Merpic, jlatislaw, Eastbruce. I really believe that JUDDD will astonish you all with how simple it is. What is interesting is how relatively easy the DDs are, this astonishes so many. There are hard ones of course, but we say, "Hunger is not an emergency".If you are happy with slower losses, then of course follow the M,W,F DDs and the T,T,S Up days with the Medium day thrown in. But if you give the true rotations a fair chance you may be surprised at how easy it is. Pop over and join the June Newbies Post Here thread and get to know the other great Newbies.

Okay, I'm hopping onto the JUDDD train.
I've been doing 24 hr on, 24 hr off fasting experiments so I think this will be good for me. Says my UD calories are 1788, DD are 447 for 25% w/light exercise 1-3 times a week. I'm searching through the DD recipe thread to pick out some meal ideas to take advantage of during DD. I have been doing LC for a little over a year (with a few slips along the way). I plan to stay away from processed foods as much as possible, especially ones containing wheat, I know for a fact that my body & mind do not fair well with those items. (No fun )Tomorrow will be my first UD. I'm excited to be a part of this new WOL. ![]() |

HI! I guess I will be an official JUDDD newbie in a few days! I just took my last hcg injection today and started my 72-hour countdown. My first P3 day and my first UD will be Friday, and I will immediately do the 2-week strict rotation. I'm going on vacation in a few weeks and I want this ingrained before I go.
I've lost 100 pounds with hcg but the hormonal imbalances of menohell and losing weight quickly threw me for a loop and I had regained some - lost it again and now am interested in the anti-inflammatory properties of JUDDD for arthritis/pain syndrome. I am trying to avoid surgery and get my mad PT skills up and going again, and hcg doesn't allow me enough energy to workout much so I am interested in only dieting half the time for now. I certainly know what 500 calories looks like but I am looking forward to having a wider variety of foods even on those DD's. I sure appreciated all the advice and the warm welcome I have received so far.

I am going for it too. I am a Weight Watcher member since May 2nd, that and Atkins helped me lose 13 pounds (5 virgin pounds and 8 pound regain) in addition to my 63 pound loss from last June on strict Induction. I added some carbs this week-fruit, more vegetables, more nuts, and two baked potatoes, at the advice of my WW leader (I was losing too fast she said). Well lo and behold today I am at 201 when I weighed in officially at 195 last Wed. afternoon. Proves to me that I am very sensitive to carbohydrate foods. Atkins is getting boring and no longer fun. JUDD seems to be a creative and successful way to lost weight. I am going to join this board and learn all I can. I will remain on the low carb bandwagon for now as it makes me feel so much better. I am very excited to have new and inspiring friends to support me in this quest.
