Okay. I got the book and I'm going to poke through it between emails.
My plan is to do a perfect "Down Day" today - I have preparations - boullion, slaw mix, low-fat meats, and diet soda. I am determined to log back on here tomorrow and tell you all I did it right for at least one (Down) day. Here I go! |

Try to eat as late in the day as possible for your first meal, stay busy with projects, chores, etc. There are so many great fast meals in the Down Day ONLY and Down Day Staples stickies of the JUDDD forum, and people tell you what gets them through the Down Days with minimal cals and maximum bulk to keep hunger at bay. Best to you!! |

Thank you! It's 9am. I've been up since 5am. I've had 2 egg whites and a Diet DrPepper. I'm drinking jasmine green tea and contemplating making myself a cup of chicken broth for "lunch."

I'm almost afraid to post here because that will be like a "commitment"!
I'mthinking this first down day is going to be like hcg only without the hcg! ![]() But...it is Sunday so after church if I don't feel strong I will nap! I've read most of the book, even bought some supplement called Resveratrol because I thought that's what the web site said but couldn't remember! I've got to finish reading. Every good post in the new posts that I read is from somebody from the JUDDD forum so I'm going to try this approach. I am looking for a lifestyle that I can live with, not another diet. ![]()

Oh it was so lovely, I am a total royalist. We wore red white and blue, raised a toast to her, sang the National Anthem, ate and drank too much and then had the opportunity to touch the 1948 Olympic Torch.
This afternoon the Jubilee Pageant on the Thames was wonderful too. The woman is 86 and didn't sit down once! |

5 weeks in and 6.8 pounds down
Hi Everyone
I'm Hope, nice to meet you! I feel I "know" many of you already because I have been lurking on this board for at least 6 weeks. Thank you so much to the regular posters for taking the time to share. Juddd budds really are happy folks.![]() Today marks my 5 week anniversary with JUDDD. I was hesitant to start this WOE because honestly, it sounds too good to be true. After a failed HCG attempt and lurking on these boards I really had nothing to lose but weight. It was not all smooth sailing. In the past five weeks things have not been perfect. There was a binge, there were consecutive up days, there were DD turned UUAD, and of course, there was wine . But the magic works!!!I have avoided the scale like the plague, which is not typical for me as usually I am an everyday weigher. This time I just tried to relax and let JUDDD do its magic. I weighed a few times throughout, this is what the numbers look like. April 18 - 153.4 May 2- 151.2 - Yay!!!!! May 10 - 150.4 May 17 -147.8 June 1 - 146.6 I was shocked every time I got on the scale and there was a loss because my diet is so satisfying. ![]() I feel so relaxed finally having found JUDDD. It is such an enjoyable experience. I like the emptiness of the DD's but love the variety that the UD afford me. And counting carbs??? No way....I'm mindful, especially after "bingey" type days, but I don't want to deprive myself so the "bingey" days stop. Anyways.... my relationship with food has changed, still needs work and I am learning, and loving at the same time! I look forward to continuing on this journey with you all. ------------------------------------ Hope 5ft 6 40 in July Mother of 2 |

Hope. It appears you're getting some of the calming effects JUDDD has to offer, as well as hopefully a more normalized relationship with food. All that, with weight loss on top? I'd say it is too good to be true, but it's TRUE! ![]() |

I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. Hi. My name is Jennifer and I am 35 years old. I have been doing low carb on and off for years and it has yet to stick with me. I lose some pounds, get "diet fatigue", go off plan, and gain the weight back plus some. I did JUDDD for almost a month combined with low carb and did very well before going on vacation. It's been up and down with me since then but I haven't gone back to JUDDD until today. I am going to do JUDDD this time without the carb restriction. I just don't think low carb is a long time option for me. If it was, I wouldn't be on my dozenth try at weight loss. Today is my first DD. I am following the book down to the letter. No modification for me. I've got my atkins shakes, as sugar shakes would just make me hungry. I'm not planning on doing low carb although that may come into play later. Right now I'm just going to try being carb smart. I bought enough shakes for two weeks of down days, I ordered a book on volumetrics for when I start eating on down days. I bought a cross stitch kit so I can have something to focus on at night that does not involve my kitchen. And I am wearing a pair of jeans that are one size too small. Have you ever noticed that if you buy clothes too big you will eventually fit into them? I'm working on the opposite principle here. I'm calling these my down day jeans. They are not comfortable and I couldn't eat in them if I tried.

Hi :)
Nice to see everyone. I've been here before (LowCarb Friends), in lurk mode. Low carb feels best to me, but I don't go as low as I used to. Been in and out of LC since the mid 90s.
In the past few years, I have restarted my efforts. I realized a couple of things about my past that gave me the fabled "Ah ha!" moment and it seems to have unlocked something that is helping me to lose the weight. I used Medifast last year for 4 or 5 months, and lost over 70lbs, but the expense was too much. I went on my own, duplicating the nutrition profiles as best I could with whole foods, Vita Muffins, and my own shakes. I plateaued and started doing more research. Read a great deal from Tim Ferriss, and agree with a lot of what he has discovered. His mentions of intermittent fasting and Dr. Eades (Protein Power) started me on another string of research which presented JUDDD. I likey! Today is my second DD. The first was not too bad. Surprisingly. I was out and about, drank tons of iced tea, had 3 shakes. I was under 400 calories, but it didn't feel bad. I normally eat somewhere in the high 1700s, and the calorie calculator at Dr. Johnson's site has me at over 2200! That sounds sooo high. So, I figure I will just track my food as normal, eat as normal, with under 90 net carbs, and see what I see. |

Hi everyone,
I've recently joined the newbies June thread and started JUDDD two days again (UD/DD/now on 2nd UD). I have been a member of LCF's for 3 years, lost 60lbs from my first pregnancy gain back in 2009 initially with paleo but then VLC and weekly or twice weekly fat fasts. Which is quite similar to intermitant fasting! Here i am in 2012 having gained 60+lbs over my most recent pregnancies (one that i lost in 2010 due to an illness which added to weight gain and the second pregnancy where i ended up wheelchair bound and completely inactive although all worth it for my 2nd DD who is a cherubic 4month old now). Anyhoo, i have tried the past few months to stick to low carb but just can't for whatever reason. I feel the UP/DD cycle will be much more practical for me and the theory resonates too. So far, so good! Glad to be here!

New to JUDDD
I just learned of this WOE on lowcarbfriends.com yesterday and decided to give it a try.
I got married somewhat recently and had to live about a year in Czech Republic with my hubby. In CR there is barely any such thing as dieting. Most are very active walking or biking to where they need to go. Although there are many cars but people in general seem active there. In the year's time I went from about 160lbs to 190lbs and just could not find a way to get the weight off. Everybody and their mother were feeding me, including my husband, who is like someone's grandmother. I didn't speak the language so had no choice but to go with it. So here I am...very overweight ![]() I've winged my way through different methods of losing weight over the last 8 months since we've been back in the U.S. Not much has had a lasting effect. As a matter of fact, I gained another 9 lbs putting me near 200 lbs, which I've NEVER been in my life. I'm currently on Atkins, which lost me about 10lbs in one week with most of that being water. But then I've had an immediate stall. Absolutely nothing in the last two days. That is how it has been on every diet I've tried recently. A few pounds in a short time and then nothing. So I'm feeling desperate. It's hot here in Florida and I really don't want to go through summer feeling like this. So I've decided to try JUDDD. I've been reading through some posts and have checked out the JUDDD website and believe I can make a real go of this. My one question is 'what day do I start on' UD or DD? I know where most thoughts will go first, but what is the actual day I should start on?Anyway, I will be scanning the posts for encouragement and support and will also offer my experiences as time goes by. TIA for any help here and wish all of you great success in your journey!! |

Hi Kreisherk, UD is preferable as Vilanteira says.
You must be prepared to see an initial gain as you have been LC for a couple of weeks, and I would also caution that JUDDD is not necessarily the fastest diet in the world. But oh boy it has to be the most fun. |
