Unjury makes a chicken soup flavored protein powder. I found it a couple of years ago when I was considering Gastric Bypass. It tastes pretty good but you can tell it is protein powder. 90cal. 0fat. 1carb. 21g. protein. You can find it at unjury.com.

I'm not new to Low Carb Friends, but new to JUDDD. I'm female, 63 and have struggled with weight issues since my mid-30's. In the past 30+ years I've lost and gained several times. The last was 4 years ago when I got serious after a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. I lost 50# over a two year period on low carb and then h-HCG to get the last 12 stubborn pounds off. I maintained for a year then was put on insulin and gained 10 lbs. Then this past year I really went off the rails and gained another 20#, all fat from what I can tell. Insulin is lovely in that I can cover carbs. But not lovely as doing so puts on weight.
So here I am again with 25-30 lbs. to lose. I will commit to JUDDD for a month to really test it out, both for weight loss but also to see if I can manage blood sugars on the DDs. Hopefully it will work as the idea of going on yet another diet for months where I can't have my favourite foods is preventing me from even starting anything. I also am committing to 30 minutes exercise on UDs. I tend not to post often on forums, but will read the posts here daily and post my results at least every week. I haven't read this entire thread, but I am starting JUDDD. I found Dr. Johnson's book yesterday (at Goodwill!) and after glancing through the book, wondered if everyone starts their DD at 20%... I had planned to start at 30% when I first looked into JUDDD. I will be reading the book more intently, but wondered about the 20%/30%. I like the JUDDD idea because at work when I was LCing, I was getting a lot of "you need more vegetables and fruit"... "I don't think you're eating healthy"... and their comments contributed to sabotage. I figure if I'm doing the UP/DD they won't notice!! Until I start losing, that is!!

and glad to see you here!! JUDDD is a wonderful WOE and it fits with what everyone around us thinks as "normal" for eating, I have found, so I'm never questioned or have comments made about my WOE anymore! Even though the recommended start for the first 2 weeks is 500 calories or 20%, I, for one, and also several others, have started at a higher percentage from the very beginning and have had great results. I actually started at a DD number between 40% and 45% because I had very little to lose to goal and I just knew that starting at the recommended 20% or 345 calories was going to make me fail before I even got a good running start. Some will say that we shouldn't do this, but I have and it hasn't hurt my weight loss any. I am not saying you should, just what worked for me. I say try it at the higher percentage and if you feel it's not working as you think it should then go lower. Do what works for you and you will have success, it's been proven over and over again on our JUDDD forum!

Beeb -- I was thinking that same thing -- that if I start at a "reasonable" percentage, then see how it goes, I may be more apt to stick with it. If I start at a DD of 300 calories (20%), I sincerely doubt I see me not cheating. If I start at my closer to 500, I think it will work just fine. I looked up the suggested percentages for DH to do this too, and if we both have the same meal plans maybe he'll drop some of the 45 or so pounds he's gained in the last 7 years. I know he's not happy, and his bloodwork shows it. So I suggested it to him this morning. He seemed to go along with it so, we'll see! I'll probably have more thoughts about this as I go along, but along I plan to go!! I hope to achieve the same success I wish for you!! Happy New Year!

Welcome ladies! I started less than a week ago at 600 cal on DD even though the calculater displayed some outrageous number (345 cal) that I KNOW I can't do or I'd be pretty strung out for lack of a better metaphore! I'm weighing for 1st time on Tuesday.
It's been real easy for me! Hope it is for you too. Greatest thing I did AFTER my 1st UD is make the rest of my UD's to LC 1700 cal instead of 1700 cal of mostly carby junk food! I was way less hungry the next morning on DD!!!

Going to try JUDDD
Hello all,
I've been low carbing for a few years with the usual success (losses and gains). In 2007 I reached a point where I couldn't lose weight and now know it was insulin resistance. I lost 30 lbs on Metformin, sustained for a year or so, then it crept back up (about 10 lbs) since August. To be honest though I was eating whatever i wanted and my exercise probably slacked off a bit. I'm still taking metformin, and know I could probably get back down with some effort on low carb, but JUDDD sounds much more interesting! So I'm going to start the first DD on Jan 2nd. I went to the store today and stocked up on the staples.. Wish me luck! Gina Last edited by babybella; 12-31-2011 at 05:09 PM.. |

Hello All,
It has been a long time since I've posted to LCF! My family and I moved to France back in July 2011 and the months leading up to the move and after the move we too busy to post much. I am not the best at keeping up with posting anyway...I tend to be too busy most of the time, but I am going to really try this time to be consistent! I lost a good deal of weight on Atkins, stalled, switched to CTFLC and managed to do pretty well through the move. Once here in France, I've not followed any particular plan and I have managed to maintain at 145lbs. With the New Year, I am going to try JUDDD to loose the last 20-25lbs. before we try to get pregnant again. I am convinced this plan works from all the success stories on the forum! Today is my first down day and so far so good.

Good morning all! This morning I did brave the scale. I completely lost focus over the holiday. Today is a day of new beginnings. I did gain 3 1/2 lbs over the holiday which I thought was good for all I ate. I must say I felt horrible. I was actually looking forward to today. It is a DD for me! I think I had to many UDS. I am focused again and ready to let this WOE help me gain a slimmer ME in 2012.

Way too much time on my hands!

I'm thinking of joining you all. I've done something similar for a number of years
but always lowcarb, and not this structured- as in not necessarily every other day. I just varied calories/carbs to keep metabolism from settling into a routine. I never worried about daily carb intake like I did about weekly carbs. So if I was supposed to be at 40g carbs per day, my focus was to eat 280g carbs in a week and always included at least a day or two that was ~20, which by necessity gave me a day or two that was WAY over 40. However, I didn't have the stalls that a lot of people complain about. Now here is a WOE that uses similar logic, and I'm thinking about giving it a shot, only keeping it lowcarb on all days. My blood sugar just does so well with low carbs, or at least low-er carbs. Last random blood glucose was 43- and I didn't even feel bad, I guess because it never SPIKED, so I never felt it CRASH. Anyway, it's for this reason that I'm going to keep carbs low, and just alternate the high-calorie and low-calorie days. It's easy enough to eat high calories on a lowcarb WOE. I think I can do this.

Hi I just want to introduce my self.
I have been looking for a way to lose weight that I can live with. I had some success with Atkins as well as HCG. I lost 20lbs on HCG in five weeks, but gained 10 back over Christmas and New Years. I did have some problems feeling cold and shaky a lot of the time when I was doing the HCG and the last two weeks were difficult to get through, so I don’t want to go back on HCG right away as it is winter and I hate being cold. I have been reading a lot of the threads in JUDDD and I like what I am reading. Now if I understand right you start with a UD followed by a DD followed by a UD and so on. I am a 56 year old female. I am 5’3” and I weigh 196 at the moment. My goal weight is around 145. According to the calculator I should be eating around 2100 calories on the UD and around 500 calories on the DD. I exercise moderately 3 times a week. I look forward to being part of this wonderful group but I have to wait starting my JUDDD journey as I will be on a business trip starting next Wednesday and I will be away until the Monday after. I think it will be too hard to do this kind of eating while eating out for 6 days lol so I will be following low carb while I am gone. I can't wait to get started. |
