124.2 after yesterdays DD.

I am seeing a steadying in my weighing pattern as I move further into maintenance. Like a couple of the others I have allowed myself Free Days where I don't count my calories at all.

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT: How are You Doing Today? <--- that is the question. And the answer is... managing. I have been "managing" my weight for the last month. Today I am up after a down day. The last time this happened, I made many poor choices due to my frustration. I am retaining fluids like crazy and I don't know why. Unless it was the buffet from Thursday (still though?). Since Thanksgiving I have been bouncing around between 145 and 149. It is good to be under 150 and stay there. A few more weeks of this through Christmas and New Year and I can get back to the plan as I intended it to be. For now, though I'm frustrated with stagnation, I am enjoying being able to enjoy holiday foods and parties without gaining.

Speck, I am a bit confused by your post. Are saying you have been on plan and retaining fluids, or that you haven't been on plan but will be again in the New Year?

But you are below 150, that must be good! You are managing your weight, and enjoying some wonderful foods.

I'm sorry, my post is a mess and sort of all over the place - I was talking about the past, the present and the future all at once. I'm sorry, I guess I was still sleepy when I wrote that. I've been JUDDDing like a champ. But, I've just been choosing less-than spectacular foods to eat, especially on the weekends, and all I've been doing is maintaining. After the holidays, I will get back to paleo and strictly low carb JUDDDing. That is what I meant to say.

Made it through a Saturday DD, barely!

AF came to town and I wanted to make cookies and stuff my face
But I didn't!

Cals were probably a bit higher though I didn't keep track

I had about 8 oz of beef
onions/mushrooms

1 oz cheese

1 oz cream cheese

and oatmeal

phew

I'll make tomorrow a good DD and weigh Tuesday but I'm not expecting miracles!

I wanted to try the induction after the new year and then come back to JUDDD. But I'm not sure. I think staying at 50net carbs on JUDDD and slightly lowering (if I have to) will work too!

The induction would be "fun," but Atkins isn't going to be my WOE so not sure if I should bother.

145# on the scales this a.m., and that's with wearing a shirt, a sweater, sweat pants, and socks (too cold to take anything off!) And that's after a FD yesterday continued from the night before. Lots of good stuff like Subway, a small bag of chips, too much wine...

I notice I'm going for more LC stuff too, like hb eggs. Last night I had one of my old LC standby's of tuna mixed with mayo and evoo... except I ate it with Triscuits, which I would have never done on LC. Tasty & filling

DD today until a yummy dinner at my Mom's church tonight at 6 p.m. when FD starts again I'll have to have something before then, but will try to keep it very light.

the cookies are killing me right now. they are everywhere.

i have had an UD, MD, UD, MD, and today is an UD. I had a christmas party friday, bible study saturday, work christmas party tonight.

my MD's are failed DD's. I did good all day and lost it at the end of the night.

tomorrow is going to be a strict DD and I am looking forward to it because I am 1.4 lbs and put myself out of ONEderland by a smidge and I do not like that.

We are having BBQ for our christmas dinner, so i am hoping to stick to some chicken and salad for dinner?

Today is *supposed* to be a DD but I don't know if I have the strength

I have more cookies to bake and DH wants to do the chinese buffet tonight. Let's get real for a minute, shall we? LOL!!

I thought I could do just one more DD before we leave and see a low number on the scale, etc..but what if I don't?
Did I just waste the whole week?? No, definitely NOT!

WOE: JUDDD for life, baby!!
Start Date: Feb 2009; RESTART: Nov. 2011 as EX-LCer
I've had two very good DDs (under 500--which for me is rare) and two WAY TOO UP UDs (over by at least 300 cals) in the last four days, and my weight has been exactly THE SAME (down to the .3!) 146.3 for those last four days!!
I seriously cannot believe how awesome this WOE is--even screwing up usually either results in a maintain or a lb or two that disappear after the next DD.

LOOK how great everyone is doing! This time of year is hard, we all know, and to be able to lose or to maintain is a good thing! Give yourselves a pat on the back for this!

I'm down another 1 pound to 132.4 which I'm NOT going to count because I want to add some weight on and not lose anymore, and will be eating more today to make up for the lost weight after my Saturday DD. Had a great FD/UD yesterday but scale showed a normal 1.5 pound gain as it always does but it only brought me 133.9 and that is not a good thing. I guess I'm a little different than everyone else where in I won't eat the things I cook or bake on a DD. I will have a tiny little taste of a cookie/baked good/food item, and I mean tiny, to just see how the taste is but I just will save these goodies for the next day, my FD/UD, and will eat them then.

I personally can't see undoing everything I have worked so hard for in weight loss for a baked good or too much of a good food item when I can have it tomorrow anyway. Plus, why do I need those cookies today or just this time of year? I can make Christmas cookies anytime of year so making them now doesn't give ME a license to over eat. It's just not worth it to me.

And I KNOW everyone is different, and I'm not judging or bashing at all, so please don't take it that way. I'm just pointing out what works for me!

Perhaps if I am good I might need to think about maintience about this time next year.
But I saw an article compairing a more or less standard redused calorie diet done 7 days
a week and a diet just using where they just had 2 days a week eating 35% of normal
and those doing this lost more weigth than those dieting 7 days a week. So perhaps
for maintience just 2 DD's and not to strict DD's at that may be all that's needed.

So far so good. Weight loss has slowed, but is still progressing as I approach goal. Adding in more physical activity now that I am actually eating food again, in preparation for my new years resolution.

Amazing what a difference it makes to my energy levels being active again! I could not have done this on the extreme vlc diet I was on before.

I was REALLY worried about DDs before I started. Now, it's a calorie free piece of cake. I followed all the advice I found here and I'm not starving or even feeling deprived on DDs. I know I probably won't see the same kind of loss this week, but I'm so excited I decided to give this a try. DH is starting today!

I think this is really interesting, E.W., and sounds like an excellent maintenance plan. I read the study you posted about it, too, and was glad to see some documentation of this phenomena.

I'm actually re-thinking my goal number, at least temporarily, as I have maintained the same weight range for over a month now.

Even with all the baking, social dinners, excessive DDs and UDs, I am as steady as a rock. Seems my body likes this weight, and, at the age of 71, maybe I'd better listen to it! It usually knows better than I!

I've been playing around with my calories, and it seems no matter what I do, I still maintain, and believe me, that's a new story for me.

This number is the same number I maintained for over 15 years back in the day, so I'm sure it is a set point.

So, to take any pressure off of myself, I remain content here for now and will do more experimenting after the Holiday is over.

If I had eaten this way with lc, I would be at least 10 lbs. heavier, so it's all good!!!
