Congratulations Kissa and Betty!!

The scale is up for me because I didn't mind my UD calories last night. There was all this Columbian food I never had before like empanadas, shredded beef, amazing rice with chilies and cheese, tres leche cake, and more.

Thank you for being forgiving, JUDDD. I promise to not do this very often.

Today will be a good down day.

Paula, I wonder if cream of wheat or malt o meal would fill you up for breakfast? I haven't had it in years but I just bought a box.

Today is 1 week for me on JUDDD
Last Sunday weight - 201.4
Todays weight - 196
Yesterday was supposed to be DD and did quite well until we got home from dinner out. I had made chocolate lava cake and brought home leftovers of it - had a bowl with whipped cream so expected to be up this morning but stayed the same as yesterday - lowest the scale was this week was on Thursday at 195.2 after a DD but was up Friday after UD and then stayed the same yesterday.
My goal is to be at 189.9 by Dec 1st.
Thanks for all the helpful information and encouragement on this thread.
Congrats to Kissa.

I am delighted and want to thank you all for your advice and encouragement.

But, less of me.

Welcome back Marie, so glad you enjoyed your cruise. I am very interested in your surgery, as I had a face lift 9 years ago. It went so smoothly and it was one of the best things I ever did. It certainly helps me stay at a lower weight. Not prepared to undo all that work by stretching everything again. I hope it is as much of a success for you too.

DD today, going to the cinema later.
Congratulations on making Goal, Kissa! Have fun at the movies!

Net result = DOWN 2.5 POUNDS for the week!

I can guarantee that if I had just stopped VLC, not started JUDDD and ate what I ate this week, I'd be at about 195! (Don't ask how I know this.... )

Pulled straight from my logs:

186.5 11-6 Sun (Had some vodka last night...)
188.0 11-7 Mon (EEEeeek! One piece of non-lc fried chicken did THIS?!?!?)
186.5 11-8 Tues (Started JUDDD yesterday, so may see more "ups & downs")
? 11-9 Wed (No scale available - travelling)
189.5 11-10 Thurs (Yikes! That's what two UPs in a row will get ya!)
187.0 11-11 Fri
187.0 11-12 Sat (Rather amazing after the UP I had yesterday!)
184.0 11-13 Sun

That is awesome! I can tell you are surprised. Isn't it great?

Dottie, I am still trying to wrap my head around all this (weightloss stuff). It is obvious to me that it's so much more complicated than I ever thought, and that's even after realizing it was more complicated than everyone else thought

Congrats to all the losers here today and those finding there way with JUDDD and what works for them.

I would like to give my experience to all about my weight after an UD. I am ALWAYS up at least 1 pound, sometimes more. It is water weight and is gone by the next morning after a DD. I just wanted to point this out because it seems to be a "normal" thing on JUDDD, like the bouncing ball as it's going down the stairs that Pat used as an example for the up and down weight that is JUDDD UDs and UDs. So, if you are up a bit after you UD, take it from me, it's nothing to be concerned with!!

DD for me and going to the Jets/Patriots game tonight. Always eat "tailgate" or home before the game anyway because it's so darn expensive to eat there anyway! $16.00 for a steak sandwich just doesn't stick well with me! I like being able to "control" what I eat on DDs anyway. Today will be a nice pasta dish with lots of veggies!

That sounds like so much fun! But I'm with you about a $16 sandwich. Uhhh... that's so not going to happen.

11/7 - 527 cal. - 137.5 lbs.
11/8 - 1,611 cal. - 136.5 lbs.

11/12 - 1,336 cal. - 136.5 lbs.

So, lower weight coming predictably after DD and heavier after UD. I realize I am very new into this, but I'm hoping for some input as to what I can do. I'm trying to measure carefully. As of 11/10, I got serious about doing 30 minutes of exercise a day (recumbent bike mostly). I know there's supposed to be somewhere besides JUDDD to find out how many calories I should be taking in, but I don't remember where they are.

I should probably mention here that I'm 65 as I'm sure that has some bearing on it, too.

Last December, I had gotten down to 132 and was able to maintain on that quite a bit during that month and then went back up again. I had spent quite a few days on Fat Fast.
Shirl...I think you're doing great considering you're so close to goal. You'll be there in no time.

Thank you all for the congratulations.

Seems to that everyone is doing well.

I have to smile when 1lb loss in a week seems a little. That is all it took, in fact less than that, for me to get to goal. We are all impatient but when you consider the range of foods we are eating over the week, 1lb is a great loss.

Enjoyed the movie, The Awakening. Back later with final food and calorie counts.

Really happy not to see a gain this morning after my feast yesterday with the giant burger!!! Trying a MD today....shooting for 1200cal. Haven't been too successful with these in the past, but so far so good and have the day planned out.

Well, my tummy did start to gurgle/growl during prayers at the end. Luckily, there was some background music playing. I wonder if it's the communion that triggers it. Just enough food for my tumm to think a lot more should be coming. I would have been fine if service was the usual length, but it was a good half hour late today.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I love oatmeal/cream of wheat but it doesn't love me back...I tend to get a blood sugar crash from it. Think I'll try the egg white omlette in my low carb tortilla next week. Normally I just skip breakfast except on Sundays. Trying to save everyone from the sounds of my insides!

Congrats all the losers and hang tough all the stallers and slow losses...a little is better than none, and you may be "reshaping" too.

I am starting to think something is wonky? I am going to try to push through it, and I might try to do a full fast on Monday or try to fast all morning/afternoon and only have a smallish dinner, we will see?

In the meantime it is bible study tonight and I am going to eat and try not to stress about it.
I so know where you are coming from!
When I look back through my juddd records I gain quite often a DD..and lose after an UD!

My thoughts are that I eat a lot of fibre on a DD..oat fiber, glucmannan, etc...and not much food to help it through my system.
After my UD...and lots of food moving through my system...I lose all the fiber...and any weight loss shows!
Thats my theory anyway!

Please dont "punish" yourself on your UD...it was my first reaction to seeing a DD gain...but I resisted...and the weight came off!

If you reduce your UDcalories you will slow your metabolism...and probably be very hungry on your next DD!

You are doing great, just keep on keeping on...and you will get there!

hugs

May I ask what number your UD calorie number is? You know, the 500 calories for Down Days is just for the first couple of weeks. He calls it an *induction period*. Which I don't quite get.

But anyway, after that you can do your DDs with a whole lot more choice as to the calories you're going to hold them too. That might be at 20% of your UD calories, which is often even lower than our initial 500 calorie starting place, but even taking 35% of your UD calorie number is still considered weight loss mode.

So if you are eating at 2000 calories for your UDs, 35% of that would give you DDs of 700 calories.

Obviously the higher you are on your DDs, the bit slower your weight loss will be, but it should still happen.

AND, are you sure you are choosing wonderful belly-filling foods for your Down Days?

4 egg whites in a scramble with lots of chopped onion and pepper and mushrooms can make a pretty big plateful of food. Maybe 110 to 130 calories.

Merely a 1/4 cup of dry oatmeal cooked all creamy in 1/2 cup of water, sweetened with some 0-calorie syrup can make a nice bowlful of oatmeal. About 75 calories.

You can make a huge stirfry with broccoli and carrots, mushrooms and onions and green peppers, a mound of it on a plate, for not many calories! Another low-calorie meal!

So part of the successful happiness of DDs is getting in quite a bit of truly good eating!

Pat, my UPs have been mostly around 1600 and DDs right around 500. As I see it, I think I should be losing by having around 2100 every two days, averaging out to 1050 per day. I guess I don't see much reason to change this, but I could sure try some other numbers...I don't want to go with less than 500 on DDs.

I think you really have a point about my needing to figure out some more filling foods for my DDs and I like your suggestions...I will try them and look for others on the DD recipes thread. I have been thinking that I don't want to do much extra cooking on this since I have to make meals for DH, too.

I prefer to have three meals a day, so I try to space my calories evenly throughout the day. I have been really hungry today and then after my dinner of a FF frank, 1/2 Flatout bread, salad and coffee with 1/2 T cream, I feel stuffed. I definitely need to do some more tweaking with this! Thanks so much for your suggestions...I think this will be easier if the DDs are easier!

Ok--not awesome today. If my usual plan is 500 on DDs and 1700 on UDs, and today was a DD and I ate about 700 cals, should I just eat 1500 tomorrow for my UD to balance it out?

Yeah, if your UDs are in the 1600 range, even doing your DDs at 35% only takes them up to 560 calories, so not really much difference there.

It does sound like your best bet is going to be to work on more filling meals on those days, and then too.. hopefully you will get more acclimated to the fasting days, 'cause you haven't really been doing JUDDD that long, have you? So you may still be in the *getting used to it* stage.

But some pretty decent and belly-filling foods on DDs is definitely the secret for me! Good luck!

I wouldn't if it were me. I try to avoid bringing my DD and my UD into any closer proximity than they have to be.

I'd just feel badly about going over today, but I'd still do my full UD tomorrow, and then I'd make extra sure my DD after that was a real good one!

Hi Shirl, Be sure to check out the DD Staples thread for ideas that involve no cooking or very little. It's more about convenience and speed - ideas of things you can have on hand like low cal soups, breads, etc. Check it out

Well, I was 147 before I left for the cruise and 149 today so the damage is repairable. It's good to see some new faces and the continued successes of fellow JUDDD BUDDD's.

Kissa, congrats on making GOAL!!!!!!!!!!
