I was right yesterday when I said it was time to draw the line, because this morning ladies the scale said: 126, Goal.

I am delighted and want to thank you all for your advice and encouragement.

But, less of me.

Welcome back Marie, so glad you enjoyed your cruise. I am very interested in your surgery, as I had a face lift 9 years ago. It went so smoothly and it was one of the best things I ever did. It certainly helps me stay at a lower weight. Not prepared to undo all that work by stretching everything again. I hope it is as much of a success for you too.

DD today, going to the cinema later.

One thing I may note, is that I stuck with fruits and veggies mainly for my carb sources.

Accept I did have a small sushi plate on Wed with ice cream and about a cup of spaghetti on Friday. Oh and Quinoa!

Ok, aside from that stuff, it was mainly fruit/veggies

And while I'm thinking about broth, I buy a no sodium one that is tasty! I had to resort to it yesterday and it wasn't as scary as I thought! lol I mainly use it to flavor other foods.

so I will be sticking to 16/1700 cals for UDs..and low as I can get em DDs. But just how low? Is there a rule..no more than 500? Or stick to 500 and slowly drop those too? LOL!

I just read about a woman who used to post here all the time who had success with JUDDD/thyroid problems and another lady who couldn't lose until she dropped her UD cals to 1,000
Could explain why going that low has worked for me in the past on more harsh diets.

My Up Day did get Upper from those almonds! 2160 instead of the 1600 I was aiming for. I am up .6.

I don't "like" medium days, but I definitely am planning one today. 2160 + 1100 should give me a 2 day Up day average...

Still searching for the magic breakfast to eat before church that will keep my stomach from growling during the closing minutes of the sermon.... I know we are in for a long one this week. I'm bringing tortilla with cream cheese/shredded chicken and will eat it right before service. Hope that will keep my DD from shushing my tummy. We take communion every week in our denomination, and that seems to be just enough food to start the growlies up.

oh, another thought worth mentioning was that this week I had UDs on my days off the from the gym. So I was going into the gym with all the good stored fuel.

Not sure if that has a part in any of it.

Betty, I think exercising on the DDs makes sense, as you say, you are full of good nutrients. Also I find if I have exercised I am more likely to eat 'sensibly'. Delighted to see you were down again this week.

I always think boiled eggs hold off the rumbles, Paula. I have just had one now, they are such a simple but satisfying food.

We are advised to hold our DD calories to no higher than 500 for the first two weeks, and most folks need this only because they struggle to get into that DD routine right at first. Any lower than that is even more difficult for them, so 500 is *good enough*.

But, you get the choice of what to do on your DDs after that point, and that can range anywhere from 20% up to 35% of your UD calorie number. (At higher percentages than that you begin to blur the line from weight loss numbers into maintenance numbers...)

So if you are going to do 1650 for UDs, then 20% of that is 330 calories. Or if you don't want to have DDs that low, you can go for say..... 35% of 1650, which is 578 calories.

You get to decide, but I'll bet if you do that 1600+ calorie area for your UDs and 500 or under for your DDs, you be happy with the results.

How about a real quick egg white scramble with veggies in it? Example from yesterday, I did 4 egg whites with an ounce of onion and an ounce of ham, all shredded up. It made a nice big heap of egg white protein for very few calories. ETA: You'd probably want to skip the onions before church. (wink)

Ladies, I tried a single boiled egg a couple weeks ago and still had tummy growling. Maybe two would have worked...I just don't love them even though they are filling.

I have to have something to bring, because I leave at 9:15 and don't get home till 12:30 or so...and need to eat it at the church after Sunday school. I swear I have the LOUDEST tummy ever! Hope my "burrito" will work today. If not, maybe I should try it filled with egg white omelette next week? That sounds delicious too.

Good morning ladies! Such great inspiration!

Welcome back Marie! I always gain after cruises...can't help it with all the sodium in the food. Plus after drinking and eating so much, just can't help it. It'll all come back off over the next couple days. Well wishes on upcoming surgery!

CONGRATS! Great to see you're finding the calorie # that work for you! I see what you're doing is similar to what I do to lose - around 500-600 DD and under 1800 UD.

KUTGW!

WOE: Low/Mod Carb, JUDDD (JUDDD, 10/25/11 at 141.5)
Start Date: March, 2006
Last Tuesday, Nov. 8, was the two week mark for me being on JUDDD and I had lost 5 lbs. during that time. For the past week, my calories and weight have fluctuated like this:

11/6 - 1,648 cal. - 137.5 lbs.
11/7 - 527 cal. - 137.5 lbs.
11/8 - 1,611 cal. - 136.5 lbs.
11/9 - 479 cal. - 137.5 lbs.
11/10 - 1,618 cal. - 136.5 lbs.
11/11 - 477 cal. - 137.5 lbs.
11/12 - 1,336 cal. - 136.5 lbs.

So, lower weight coming predictably after DD and heavier after UD. I realize I am very new into this, but I'm hoping for some input as to what I can do. I'm trying to measure carefully. As of 11/10, I got serious about doing 30 minutes of exercise a day (recumbent bike mostly). I know there's supposed to be somewhere besides JUDDD to find out how many calories I should be taking in, but I don't remember where they are.

I should probably mention here that I'm 65 as I'm sure that has some bearing on it, too.

Last December, I had gotten down to 132 and was able to maintain on that quite a bit during that month and then went back up again. I had spent quite a few days on Fat Fast.

Julie: Lol!! I need a copy of your dictionary! I'm sure there's other info in there that I need to know.

I'm up a pound after yesterday's UD. I let myself give in to too many junk carbs...I make the decision to eat them at the time, but afterward I regret it. I know that JUDDD doesn't care where your calories come from per se, but I need to get clean!

Make it a great day, BUDDDs!!

OK, shirl. This is my response to your post. CONGRATULATIONS! You are doing fabulously, and well on your way! Woo Hoo!

To have lost 5 pounds in the first two weeks is simply great, and to have lost yet another pound in the days shown.... with FOUR of those days being UP days is great too.

You are doing great.

JUDDD isn't a plan that is usually associated with fast weight loss. But most folks associate is with almost assured weight loss, even if it isn't always at lightening speed. And to my way of thinking... when I'm so-o-o-o not on a diet every other day, it's completely amazing. So, did I say congratulations?

Overall, give or take a few ounces, I seemed to have the occasional week of 2-pounds weight loss, then some weeks of only 1 pound weight loss, and then also some weeks of NO weight loss.

And yet, as the weeks and months passed, I lost weight and I ate very, very, very well.

At this time, I'm inclined to think you're doing a fine job. I hope you're enjoying it too. Congratulations!

Was doing very low carb leading up to this week - started JUDDD with a DD on Monday after being frustrated at a 1.5 lb gain after having ONE piece of fried chicken (typical on VLC)!

Had a less than perfect JUDDD week because of some business travel/meetings/dinners on Tuesday and Wednesday. My DD's during the week were definately right around 500 / my UD's were ALL over my allowed calories, and certainly high on carbs!

Net result = DOWN 2.5 POUNDS for the week!

I can guarantee that if I had just stopped VLC, not started JUDDD and ate what I ate this week, I'd be at about 195! (Don't ask how I know this.... )

Pulled straight from my logs:

186.5 11-6 Sun (Had some vodka last night...)
188.0 11-7 Mon (EEEeeek! One piece of non-lc fried chicken did THIS?!?!?)
186.5 11-8 Tues (Started JUDDD yesterday, so may see more "ups & downs")
? 11-9 Wed (No scale available - travelling)
189.5 11-10 Thurs (Yikes! That's what two UPs in a row will get ya!)
187.0 11-11 Fri
187.0 11-12 Sat (Rather amazing after the UP I had yesterday!)
184.0 11-13 Sun

Oh, well.... I know what you mean. I do it too. I think a lot of us do, but I think that's why a lot of us feel so very much more relaxed and happy with our lives now. Like Rachelocity said,

"..........JUDDD is helping me decriminalize certain foods. I can eat anything that pleases me, the world continues to turn, and I don't have to eat it all the time OR never again as if these were the only two options in life.........."

So, you ate some junk carbs, and the world continues to turn. I hope you enjoyed them, you have a little increase in water weight, it isn't FAT, it will go away easily, and life goes on.

I had my giant sweet lemon-poppy seed muffin this morning.

Congrats, Sandelio! I know what you mean about on vlc, any carbs would cause a jump on the scale and water gain. I harbored water weight at least 50% of the month on LC, but somehow on JUDDD, I rarely retain it! And I was under the impression that is supposed to be the opposite effect, lol!

Anyway, down 2.5 pounds in a week = AWESOME!

I'm certainly glad you shared this chart with us, because it's fun to see that at the end of the week there is a real nice loss... despite being able to see some enormous JUDDD bounces in there. Maybe seeing this can help someone else relax if they're confronted with large fluctuations in their scale weight in the mornings.

Congratulations on just DOING IT. You're home, you travel, you're home again, you eat some fun food, and you try to do a mostly good job, and you rely on JUDDD to handle it for you. And you end up with a loss of 2-1/2 POUNDS. Nice!

This is awesome. So happy for you.

We take communion every week in our denomination, and that seems to be just enough food to start the growlies up.
Not sure if you are doing LC also, but what about oatmeal, that usually fills me up for a good three or so hours.

Yes I agree,

As for me I am UP .4 after a DD of only 520 calories. Seriously! It almost makes me not want to enjoy my UD today, my brain wants to punish myself. Why would this be? It's not TOM, no bathroom issues? It looks like this week so far I have only lost .6 pounds and after an UD today I am afriad that the final result will be 0 pounds lost this week? I am starting to think something is wonky? I am going to try to push through it, and I might try to do a full fast on Monday or try to fast all morning/afternoon and only have a smallish dinner, we will see?

In the meantime it is bible study tonight and I am going to eat and try not to stress about it.

Up 3lbs after yesterdays sodium filled UD but I thought it would be more after how much my ankles were swelling last night lol, so no complaints.

I just double checked, I also had 163g carbs, so I do think my weight-loss-number will be around 80-100, going by my losses since starting JUDDD. Also it seems I lose better when I have my heavy carb meal at Lunch, not supper.

I feel the same way, I try to limit my carbs to breakfast and lunch if I have them at dinner, I am bloated.

Awesome that you are figuring these things out! I think I have noticed the same thing for myself about having more sodium/carbs at dinner. It might be best if I do LUNCH at a Chinese buffet, not dinner If I don't want to see a water gain on the scale next day.
