Marie, I know what you mean. I think I've gone a little crazy with my UDs too, after so many months of vlc. I stay within the calorie count, but I'm not happy with some of the junk I've been eating. I need to get back to lots of fresh fruit and veggies, whole grains and lean proteins-- with an occasional treat. Atkins seems to have really left me with a LOT of pent-up food cravings.

DDs are so much easier to cope with!

Pat,

I think JUDDD is wonderful. I LOVE the freedom, and I do believe calorie cycling is the way to go with our metabolism, especially at age 48. I am really going to try hard to limit my poor food choices. *I* have a tendancy to struggle with LACK of self control.

I went back through a few days of the *what are you eating* threads but don't see where you list your meals or menus. I know some of my meals are a bit better than others, but overall I don't worry about it too much.

I like my veggies and fruit, so several varieties of both v & f are a must for me every day. I have always loved good breads, so I was delighted to include bread in most every day now. Right now I'm in love with fresh baked ciabatta bread, hot from the oven! Crusty on the outside and full of air holes on the inside, so easy to load up with olive oil or melted butter!

I eat meat every day, although I don't do really well on too much meat fats, so smaller portions of meat works out much more pleasantly for me. Too much meat makes me feel a bit nauseated. I was really glad to be able to bring down the amount of meat I ate a little bit. I sometimes enjoy some milk, usually the occasional time I pour cornflakes into a bowl for a cold cereal morning breakfast. Don't do that often though. But now I think maybe I'll eat cereal in the morning. Eggs for breakfast today.

I was glad to be able to cut back on eggs some too. Lordy, I got awfully tired of eggs! Never get tired of cheese or nuts though! Just still have to watch my portions.

I enjoy getting to eat some ice cream again sometimes. Also love having a pastry for breakfast with wonderful coffee up at the French cafe.

Yeah, I won't be going off JUDDD for awhile. Or ever!

Pat,

I faithfully track using ******, but, I have not been posting my menus on the board. If I could figure out an easy way to cut and paste, I would. One day I tried to have the ****** window open, and this forum window open, but, it just became too time consuming going back and forth so I didn't continue to try. My memory is poor, lol. I feel it is very important to track and will continue to, but, doubt I will be a menu poster very often.

Thanks for taking the time to share with me. I hope you don't think I am saying anything negative about JUDDD because that is not my intention AT ALL. I sometimes don't articulate well. I decided to be TRANSPARENT in hopes that others would share.

Oh, I think it's great to share our negative experiences as well (aka my m&m FAIL moment). We just have to pick up and move on when things don't work how we want, and find a way to improve.

This weekend's been easier for me as no one has eaten candy or chips in front of me. THANK YOU FAMILY!

Never regret posting your struggles! If you don't, there will be no way for anyone to offer help and suggestions!
It is also very reassuring to realise that we r not the only one who battles sometimes....
Also, a month or so from now, you will be able to read ur old posts and see how far you have came, what has worked for you,and why!
I know you will do fabulously! You already have pinpointed your trouble spot, and have planned how to overcome it. You are halfway there already!
Good luck!

Congrats on all the losses! Juddd is wonderful and marie I totally know what you guys are talking about with getting out of hand on juddd. It can happen in the beginning especially. I did it for a couple a whileb ago and that kept happening to me and I kept binging and I was restricting too much. It was a mess an there were other things going on in my life too and my eating disorder reared its ugly head. So I had to quit juddd for awhile. I'm loving being back at it even though I'm doing thingsslightly strange but its all working.
Juddd works great when you work it. I love that some of you are really and truly able to eat what you want on UDs. Its awesome. There are so many different ways of working juddd and its just about finding what works for you.
I was 145 this morning after my refeed. I was 143.2 the morning of so not bad. I had a vlc day today with lots of protein and fat. I ate about 1700 cals today. I will be up in the morning too and then I have a much needed and wanted DD tomorrow and the scale will start moving back down. I'm curious to see how long it will take me to get back into ketosis. And I am still so amazed that I can eat 300 carbs in one day and not have any cravings from it. I have been thinking a lot about it and maybe its just eating so many carbs you know. I'm not eating a candy bar and then feeling guilty andshame and then in turn wanting more. By the time the day is over I'm done with carbs and ready to go back to eating some fat and protein. Its very interresting. And my workouts ar kicking butt. I get such a pump on my refeed day. My muscles are loving it and are really thriving. I'm loving eating this way.

No, No! I didn't think that at all! No..

And I know what you mean about wishing there was cut and paste. I didn't get any meals up there for today either. But I also use ******.

I think you guys are all really doing well.

Shelly, I continue to be fascinated with your concept and adaptation of JUDDD along with the low carb weekdays and big carb up on a weekend. Obviously it is agreeing with you about 1,000%!

Also quite interested in your observation that you don't seem to have any carb cravings after the HUGE carb-up weekend. You said, ".....not eating a candy bar and then feeling guilty and shame and then in turn wanting more. By the time the day is over I'm done with carbs....." and it does seem to somehow allow for that so that you don't have to feel any compulsions about carbs. Most of us have them whenever we want them, and you have them in great quantity on a weekend, but the result seems to be about the same: It's not necessary to binge, because.. why? If you want it, you can work it in. And like your body gets such a huge dose on carb up day, it's quite happy to give the high carbs up for a few days! Like, I think I once OD'd on chocolate fudge. And I'm laughing, but I'm serious about that. It wasn't fun!

Had a good clean and healthy UD today, though it was work to hit my minimum calories. I haven't quite learned to let myself eat a normal breakfast on UDs and end up having to find ways to shoehorn in the missing calories at the end of the day.

Anyway, as I often do last thing at night, I weighed myself before getting ready to climb into bed with my latest book. I usually weigh 1 to 2 pounds more at the end of the day than I did that same morning, which makes sense. Tonight, though, I weigh exactly the same--183. It will be interesting to see what tomorrow brings.

Ooooo....when I weigh at night I'm usually 2 pounds less by morning. Fingers crossed for your morning weigh-in!! I seemed to have the same trouble as you today: Not enough at breakfast, too late of a lunch and trying to catch up at dinner. I was too full to eat much at dinner, so my calories have fallen short of my 1610 mark. I'm only at 1344 for the day.

I've got my DD all planned for tomorrow and it seems like I have so much food to eat for under 500 calories. Hopefully all goes according to plan tomorrow.

I started out like the "kid in the candy shop" when I did my first couple of weeks on my UDs, but when my mind wrapped around the true idea that I didn't have to eat all this stuff I hadn't been able to all in just a few days it all calmed down.

Now on my UDs I know I don't have to eat that one thing I wanted in so long right now, today, because I have many, many UDs coming ahead and I can have it whenever I want to! It's like the quote from Rachel in my signature says: "I can eat anything that pleases me, the world continues to turn, and I don't have to eat it all the time or never again as if these were the only two options in life"

There will ALWAYS be another day to have that donut or candy, if I so choose to do that. BUT what I'm finding that after those first couple of weeks the things I thought I would have all the time (crackers, chips, etc.) I'm not having most of the time. I'm opting for fruit, a homemade muffin, a sweet potato or brown rice, for example, as the things I can now have and really want. The thought of chocolate or a piece of cake just isn't doing it for me anymore!

Where I was a little concerned I would go back to eating lots of junk again just hasn't happened BECAUSE I CAN have it so it's not something that I want and CAN'T have. THIS seems to have changed my whole way of thinking toward food!

After a fantastic start at JUDDD I decided to do a butternut squash-potato fry. The next morning I was up 8 pounds. I am pretty sure it is the white potato...I just react badly to them. I knew it before I ate it. So now I am working my way back down. I am retaining fluid and it may take a week to get back to normal. Why oh why do I do this to myself.

I have also noticed I am not drinking as much water as normal so it is a double whammy. I have a craving for pimento cheese (strange thing to crave) so will eat some tomorrow on my UD. Had a good 600 calorie DD today and not as much of a struggle as usual. I still haven't figured out if I should be doing protein or veggies on my DD's. I will get it figured out eventually.LOL

Andrea, that's what I was hoping for! As it turns out I'm a pound down for 182 this morning-- a brand new low for me as I'd been stuck at 183 or above all of September, so YAY! This also gives me a net loss of 2.5 pounds since I started JUDDD 12 days ago, so YAY again!

DD for me today too. We can do this! Luckily I'm on-site with a client today and they have a big salad bar in the cafeteria.

OK, up 2.4 after my weekend of UP days. It's all fine, that's 1.2 pounds less than last Monday.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

I will get it figured out eventually.LOL
cos you are only human hun! You have tried an experiment food wise...it didnt work...and you are moving on!
After 6 month of atkins, and a month into juddd I tried wheat bran..3 T of wheat bran!...Bloated up like a balloon, tummy pains, gas, gained a bit...just horrible!

After some sensible advice on here I just drank loads of water, stuck to my UD's & DD's...and off it came, taking a bit more with it!

It will be off before you know it...just keep chugging the water..it really helps!

Let us know how the protein/veggies works out on your DD's. Looking back over my DD's..mine seem to be pretty much the same percentage of my DD cals...perhaps a bit higher on the veggies...cos I like to have a lot to eat!

good luck!

hugs

1.2lbs in a week...and you had 2 UD's on the W/E!

You are doing brilliantly!

Are you going for a UD and a medium day this W/E?

Anyway, as I often do last thing at night, I weighed myself before getting ready to climb into bed with my latest book. I usually weigh 1 to 2 pounds more at the end of the day than I did that same morning, which makes sense. Tonight, though, I weigh exactly the same--183. It will be interesting to see what tomorrow brings.
Lol!
I do this too! I think it is a left over habit from my very low fat low cal days....I am kind of scared I wont have enough cals at the end of the day ...so put off eating a good breakfast!

Then, after tea, I am full...with 400 cals to spare!

I am getting better though...and having a nice supply of homemade nut flour apple scones, and coconut chocolate bark in the freezer sure helps get those cals in easily!

Never thought of weighing at night...especially when I think of how much I have scoffed during the day!

No, definitely sticking with 2 ups. I'm sure I'd lose faster if I changed it, but I do want to feel full and satisfied on the weekends (especially as I like my wine on the weekends) , helps me feel READY on Mondays for my first DD of the week. And I know it makes me bounce up more, but that's OK, it's coming right back off!

I could lose faster I'm sure with a straight rotation, but I'm happy with this compromise. And as a slow loser, don't feel the need to tweak to go faster, it's just slightly faster than really slow, you know?!

Good morning Jo,

I always enjoy your posts so much. You are sunshine to me . Thank you. I always weigh at night. I can typically tell by 6pm if the scale is going to be nice to be in the morning or not.
