How was the taste testing Marie?
Good morning all!
I had about 1800 cals yesterday but stayed to "good" carbs and was rewarded with a .5 loss of the water weight I'd gotten from Saturday's up day. Hope to let go of those other 2lbs I gained on todays down day.

Dottie,

it had the potential to be very enjoyable, but, there was a sauce on all three test subjects that I did NOT like, LOL so it wasn't that great, lol. Evidently, there were many that felt the same way. WTG Yesterday on staying within your calorie range and staying out of the Halloween candy!!

I hope you're feeling a lot better today, Majella!

Oh I've had cereal twice since starting JUDDD and I've really enjoyed it too!

I hope none of us drive ourselves mad with calorie counting If I ever get to the point with JUDDD where I feel "fatigued" about the whole thing, I will take some time off of it and not count a single calorie. Then start back after days/week. I don't think that would hurt at all.

And yes, I am also one of those who can let the scale dictate my mood, though I'm getting a little better about that. I didn't even weigh today though, and it's the first time in ages I haven't weighed myself.

Hey y'all...we got hit pretty bad by this freak snowstorm; I hope everyone is okay.
Our power is still out and it's barely above 40 degrees in the house!
I am at the library--may be staying here all day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last Tuesday I saw a new "official" low of 293.6, but then actually went to 282.0 later in the day.
Then I had my TOM a couple days later, with all the attendant weight fluctuations...
Yesterday I saw 281.0!!! Lowest weight of 2011!!!

Stay warm, everyone!

Wonderful!

I am enjoying my Down day, I was a bit nervous as I was meeting a friend for lunch but there was some plain shrimp on the menu (what we in the UK cal 1/2 a pint of prawns!). They come still complete in their shells, which is great because it makes you eat them slowly. I had a diet coke with it followed by 2 small Cappuccinos.

Tonight I will have veggie soup.

128.2 this morning, down .4 lb.

Yesterday was a down day but it went a bit wrong with Halloween however I didn't eat sweeties but still ended up at around 1000 cal and today has gone well. Got my wisdom tooth out this afternoon so I can't eat much so my cal today will be also around 1000. I'll have tomorrow as a DD and get right back on track

I'm sure I've figured out my DD calories (500), but after 3 weeks of trial and error, I was still fighting doing 1500 calories.

Today, I finally decided to give up the 1700 range, and adhere to 1500 calories. In the first two weeks, I had shed 5 lbs., but now it's down to 3.2 lbs. after 3 weeks.
Still, 1 lb a week isn't too shabby!
I believe the first two weeks, I shed those 5 lbs. quickly because I had gained them quickly from the week before I started JUDD.

Gracie!

I put this in my ****** journal, but thought it wise to post it here also so I can constantly be reminded of my intention.

My 4th day at 128.8, and previous 4 weigh ins were 129.4. You can't say I'm unpredictable lately.

I really have my calories right on both DD and UD, so I know something has to budge soon. My legs are a bit sore, and it's pre-TOM, so there could be some water retention going on. And sometimes I have my losses after UDs, so I will keep hoping for a budge.

Wed-Fri is going to be crazy busy for me, so I hope I handle that stress okay. Not used to working so much. Gets harder when you aren't in your 20s (and haven't been for ... awhile). At least it's so much easier than 18 months ago without the 75 pounds I've lost since then. No wonder I was so tired all the time.
Hi paulabob!

Loving the new Avi btw!

My weight stays static for several days at a time...once for eight days....despite sticking to my UD/DD numbers.
But despite this, and several unexpalined ups...it has been down overall.

It is so frustrating though, to stick with it and see nothing change..or even go in the wrong direction

I still dont like it, and can totally sympathise!

hugs
Jo

So much activity in here! I love it!! I have been absent for too many days...I had like 6 pages of reading to catch up on just to get back up to speed on everyone!

I have been really busy, between work and an away hockey tourney for my older DS, hence my lack of presence here. Sooooo...last thursday was a scheduled UD (during peak TOM), and I was up some to 183. Friday was supposed to be a DD, but I let it get very much away from me and it ended up another UD. Saturday was a scheduled UD (due to being away for this tournament), and I didn't adjust for it, so that made it 3 UDs in a row. Sunday was supposed to be a MD, but that, too, became an UD. So, 4 UDs in a row for me.

<sigh>

Yesterday I got on the scale to assess the damage and was up to 186.4. Blech. But I did a decent DD (even on Halloween, I might add...my boys even offered me some of their bounty, which I tucked away for future UDs), and this morning the scale was back down to 182.8. Amazing. One DD to erase my over-indulgent extended eating weekend!

Of course, I'll not do that again any time soon if I can help it.

I would love to do personals, but with so many pages to catch up on, there are too many woo-hoos to name! So congrats to all the losers and hugs to those who are struggling...your whoosh is right around the corner. Rock it!!

So we are!

Have you went up or down since reaching goal?

Are you going to gradually increase your DD cals, till you are at about the 50% as recommended on the juddd site?

Or stick to 600 for a while?

I would like to be able to do the 50% myself...about 800-900. It seems much more liveable...for eating out etc.

What do you think?

That's not a bad DD, Kel! That's great, especially since you're still adjusting to the DD part of things. It sometimes takes a while to work your way down to your number. KUTGW!

Hey Jo,

I haven't given this a lot of thought yet, but it looks like I'll stay at my same calorie levels for now. It would be "insurance" through the holidays to stay at this level and if I happen to lose a little more, that's fine too.

I haven't weighed myself since yesterday morning, but I'll weigh tomorrow.

As far as long-term maintenance over a lifetime, well, I have read some on the Amazon site where people review the book, and it looks like it can be even more flexible (when done over the course of months, years). For example, some people do 3 DD a week and take the whole weekend off.

I could imagine all kinds of ways to be flexible with it as long as I maintained the alternate eating pattern and calories over the majority of the time.

I think if we were in the situation where we kept losing beyond what we wanted (a few lucky ones have had this problem, lol) then raising the calorie limits seems like the only right thing to do

You know what?

I had a DD today at 732 calories, but I pretty much needed them (was sick earlier today and it's also Tom).

Half the calories I ate today were eaten in the last 20 minutes! But it's about time for bed and I really need to feel full to sleep (and I really do feel full right now! Those Pure Protein Chocolate Deluxe bars never let me down, lol.)

So, I think I will raise my DD % on that JUDDD calculator and see what happens. If I go to 40% wt. loss it gives me close to 700 calories. At 45% wt. loss it gives me closer to 800. So I think I will try 700 or a little over. (Actually I'll try for 600 but I know I have that buffer of 100+ calories should I need them).

Nice drop after my down day, and I am going to *TRY* to have another down day today due to tomorrow needing to be an UD. I'm also trying to get down to a good low before leaving on the cruise Monday.

126.8 today, officially 3.2 lbs less than my JUDDD starting weight of 130! And this is after two weeks of BINGING on just about every UD (NOT that I recommend this) and after adding sugar/wheat back into my diet. Who knows how much I could have lost if I had kept to my calorie ceiling?

Anyway, I expect to see even better losses now that I'm going back to mostly LC eating. This will put my appetite back in check and I won't have insane sugar/junkfood cravings to worry about. Sadly, I can't handle eating fruit- it's a trigger that always leads to me eating something not good/very bad. But, I will let myself have some medium carb non-triggering foods occasionally; mom's chili is one, and giant stuffed mushroom caps are another. Yum

Good luck on your November weigh-ins all!

Good morning!
My dd was good yesterday except for a lot of sodium. Up .5 today but I wasn't thinking, added 1T fish sauce to my soup that was already high sodium, then had a cup of broth later. I probably had 7000mg sodium yesterday.
I'll do my up day today, but watch the sodium and drink lots of water.
