Pat: I find myself in the same place as you today. Yesterday was a DD, but there were so many tasty goodies at Bunco last night...an awesome DD turned into an unnecessary and unfortunate UD. I didn't even bother to weigh today...I still felt full this morning when I got up.

So today is a DD.

I am so psyched to see all the new JUDDD BUDDDs here! Reading about everyone's success with the plan is so motivational to me...especially when I feel like I'm messing things up. I know the plan works. You guys are awesome!

Pat- you are like our JUDDD mommy

Dazygurl- that is FANTASTIC progress!!!

I don't put too much into the scale. I've been at this fat loss thing long enough to know better.

And I also understand that I am still thyroid-y, still not fully optimized.

Yesterday was my UP day and I did great with my calories. Woke up with a
2lb gain of the 3 I lost the day before. Thats ok though. I keep thinking about that ball bouncing down the stairs that Pat put in my head, It has to go down. SO I am on to a good DD.
I love how encouraging this group is.

JUDDD is a very forgiving plan. You just start in again. (Hope the wine was delish. Maybe next time just plan for the calories from it plus a bit more to cover the snacking.. LOL)

- - - - -

And for my report of the morning... Rats! I needed to do a very good, very low, very tight DD yesterday, and I totally blew it. I crashed and burned in such a bad way. I mean to the point where I can't just ignore that and go onto my normal UD today.. I didn't just eat a bit too high and so have to call it a MD. No. I went grocery shopping and brought home stuff that all seemed to need tasting. And my DD turned into nearly an UD, so that's what I'm calling it. Phooey.

I have to have today be a DD to even begin to undo the calorie overage I did to myself yesterday. And what this means is that I'm now not going to be able to enjoy the *football food* that I'll be fixing DH for today's important games in front of the TV! And that's going to be a big punishment for my sin, I'm telling you.. 'cause I love football food!

OK, I've confessed my sin. Now to spend the day adhering well to my DD calorie ceiling to do my atonement. LOL
So glad JUDDD is such a forgiving plan!

You know, I'm still just thrilled to be in the 140s and able to eat what I want every other day. I'm so close to goal and happy with my new woe that there's not pressure about the weight loss - it will come.

AND I KNOW inflammation is lessening because my skin is doing soooo much better! I still get some pimples, but they are so much smaller and not hanging around as long. No more huge, painful cysts, especially on my jawline and neck! I know I can attribute some of this to a new toner with aha/bha, but realistically, I know in my case that it doesn't matter so much what I put on my skin - my acne has always been about what's going on UNDER my skin - hormones. For example, when my hormones have been under control, I could have dipped my face in a vat of bacon grease and slept with my face wrapped in plastic wrap and woken up without a pimple. (Ok, bizarre mental image, but you get what I mean!) On the other hand, if my hormones are out of whack, it doesn't matter if I use the finest product on the earth, still acne.

Anyway, just had to share one of the other benefits I've found and hoped would happen with JUDDD.

I'd expect you to have quite a bit of water weight bounce with chemo being added into the mix along with high/low calorie counts and eat big/don't eat big days. Just with the normal huge fluctuations on JUDDD it can be unsettling. I can only imagine how impossible it would be to rely on a scale to report anything dependable with chemo treatments. Have you had your last one prior to surgery yet? Hope, hope, hope.....

That's pretty exciting. I have never thought about it from that standpoint, but the studies show that our bodies seem to respond to the sharp *feast or famine* calorie cycling by being stimulated to normalize a lot of our hormonal functions, helping bring us to function up at the very best of our physical levels.. probably to optimize our chances for survival in a hostile world where life was a constant struggle. So optimizing and bringing out-of-whack hormone levels back into range would be something that would benefit the human animal in prehistoric times. Very interesting that you have observed some benefit from this now.

Yay!! I decided that since I still haven't eaten today (coffee), that I would take a temperature check now and get on the scale...just to see what happened after two UDs in a row. I am actually back down to siggy weight! That's lower than I was following my last DD on Wednesday! Woohoo!!

Woo Hoo! So happy for you that the last treatment is done!

I thought you were doing a DD, and then I thought maybe you'd decided to get in a good UD first to prepare you for the DD. LOL

Anyway, I know you'll be right back into success from it like you were doing before. And... we're talking about food a lot these days. So I meant it about looking forward to seeing some food porn pics over here!

Betty, is it pretty normal for you to have less appetite and hunger in the earlier hours of your day and then have appetite pick up later and into the evening?

The hoped for response and benefit of eating up to or fairly close to our UD calorie number is to try to stimulate our metabolisms to speed up, and operate at a faster burn rate from those high calories. Which then will benefit our weight loss even better, because our faster metabolism will be able to give us a larger, faster weight loss from it's improved running. We're trying to get the sluggish metabolism that allowed us to get fat, to improve to the point it gets us slim and keeps us there!

Do the best you can. I expect it will come. And with cheesecake on the menu, I'd have NO PROBLEM eating up to my calorie ceiling. My concern would be more keeping myself reined in and saving some of the cheesecake for another day. LOL

I just am not having luck with the big breakfast, other than the first time I tried it. Probably going to be a 2500+ calorie Up day.

The first time I tried the 50 gram protein breakfast, I was so stuffed for hours. Every time since - not so much! I think it's time for me to toss this idea out, go back to waiting till lunch to eat, having a bit of coconut oil in the morning in tea or cocoa to hold me over.

Yeah, I'm willing to try this and to try that, and really give everything a chance and then see how I feel and what results I get. But eating a big breakfast right off the bat usually doesn't benefit me much. I've never noticed feeling more alert, stronger, etc. Only fatter. Just adds more calories to my day.

Although, along those lines too.. if I'm hungry in the morning, I'll usually eat whenever the appetite wakes up.

This is me. Eating LC kept my acne in check until a bizarre incident this past July. I got a pretty bad sunburn, and it made my face, neck, back, and chest breakout like mad crazy! The weird thing is, the flareup never went away even though I stuck to low carb through the rest of summer and stayed out of the sun completely.

My acne is so bad, in fact, that my skin doc just put me back on Minocycline for the first time since I was 13.

I'm secretly hoping that the JUDDD WOE will help my skin in some way.

emky, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed like crazy for JUDDD to help your skin issues. If it can clear up asthma symptoms for folks who have gasped and fought that for the years of their lives, it obviously changes us in some powerfully good ways.

Come to think of it, my acne, which is never bad anyways, has been very minor since I started September 10th. Hmmmm.... My dry skin, however, continues. It's always worst during change of seasons. It's genetic though, not diet related.

Well today is meant to be a MD but I have already had 1250 calories. Was hooting for 1000 to 1100 but made some bad food choices. I am pretty full at almost 5pm (had some soup and the small end piece of the sourdough bread).

i am going to try to not have anything other then coffee or soda for the rest of the night and will be going to be early as we are leaving bright and early for the San Diego Zoo. Wish me luck.

Have a fun day at the zoo tomorrow!

Do you plan your menu out ahead of time, to know what to eat and how much of it to eat, and what the total calories will then be?

You made me laugh about going to bed early. I had to do that a time or two when I was out of calories before I was out of day! Otherwise I knew I'd cave. Hence my need to plan out my menu for the day ahead of time usually.

Of course, these days I pretty much have a lot of DD menu possibilities already charted out, so now it's fast and easy.

I usually do, but I had to work at 6am and just ran out of time this morning. I defaulted to my usual low carb choices but forgot that they are higher in calories. whoops.

I am going to check out the san diego zoo's website to see if i can devise an eating plan for tomorrow. since i will have five kids with me, we will most likely have sandwiches and snacks i bring with maybe one or two shared snacks while there.

Whoops, I messed up tonight!!!
Was trying to be a badass on my DD and thought I could make quiche and garlic knots for my (vegetarian) son without caving!!!
Actually it was my first time making garlic knots at home...silly to think I could resist! DS said I should make a whole bunch and sell them outside the pizza place cuz mine were so much better. Aw, what a sweet kid...

Well, I went from 8am to 6 or 7pm on only 300 calories...so that's sort of like IF or something, right?

Tomorrow's another day! And I don't have any plans or any new, special foods in the house, so I'll try to behave!

BUT it's KNOWING it was ok that satisfied as much as actually eating it, ya know? i think i enjoyed my white chicken chili for supper more than the cookie cake. at any rate, i'm sure the scale will be up tomorrow as it always is after an UD.

That would be hard to resist on a DD, especially as the day progressed and progressed and the calories were wearing thin.....

I have lost another pound, but I have not been eating well and my UDs and DDs are crazy messed up right now so I'm just doing what I can do to make sure I eat enough to keep my strength up and will get back on track when things settle down with Cleo.

I'm thinking of you all, reading the posts when I can, and will post soon...........

Good morning all!

Linda and Cleo

My fist up day, still a little below the calories it suggests.

B: coffee w/coconut milk and coconut oil(x2); bacon, egg and cheese flax muffin (2 large eggs, 2.5T flax meal, 2 slices chopped bacon, 1/2oz 2% sharp cheddar cheese)
Snack: ˝ an avocado
D: chicken salad w/chicken breast, apple, walnuts, mayo, mustard and celery
S: chuck roast; boiled radishes w/ a little ghee; salad w/balsamic and evoo
1769 cals; 44g carbs; 20g fiber; 102g protein

I was at the same weight this morning, but it's a set-point for me and I'm guessing it's going to take a few days (a week?) of cycling to fix my several weeks of too-low-calorie eating. I'm patient lol.

I am up after my UD, but, this is a very typical weight for me, so I am fine. Stats to the left. My goal is for today to be a DD. I have no problem with my UD/DD every other day when dh is not home, lol.

Up a little after an awesome UD. I will do a MD as daughter from school is home for the weekend and I got up early to make us eggplant parm for after church. Will be careful afterwards (I hope). Marie, thanks for all your encouagement-you're where I want to be weight-wise. Hope all have a great Judd day. What's not to love about this-like others have said-I can have my cake-tomorrow-if I want it-and I wanted it yesterday. 154.6 lbs.

Hi Anne,

you are doing great! I KNOW you will make your goal and be able to easily maintain it using JUDDD. I am having some cosmetic surgery(tummy tuck/lipo, breast lift) next month which will take some weight off me. I suspect 8-10 pounds more, and I am a little nervous about maintaining, but, know with JUDDD I can. I just won't get as many calories, lol. I also walk, which I think has been KEY for me too. Do you have an exercise regime? Enjoy the time with your daughter.
