In reply to Beeb.... Yes, I definitely wee more on a DD!
In my case it's probably cos I drink lots of hot tea and water, plus the gluc pudding made with water, plus usually a huge green salad and homemade soup!
I think my kidneys must be sparkling!

Only the other day DH commented that we were going through toilet paper very fast these days....and was blaming DS's for being wasteful! I had to admit it was probably me!
How embarrassing! Lol!

I will be waiting to see what happens for you too CArrie!! I had basically 2 DDs, today was just a little bit higher than yesterday, but hopefully will be close to my lower number tomorrow and then I am going to EAT!! If you had a good turnout, maybe i will try a high fat/low carb day!!

I am up today, but, not abnormally up, lol. 148.6 is a number I've seen quite a bit after my UD's. My carb count was very high yesterday, and I think that is why I am feeling a bit hungry today which is a DD. Hopefully that will subside. Typically, my body is ready for a DD when it comes and I'm not hungry.

Cathy and Carrie, looking forward to your reports. Time for coffee. I get up way too early and wish I could sleep in!

sigh...hmmm....well, after my LC/high fat UP day...i was up the same amount as after a lot of carbs on sunday night. up 2 lbs from yesterday. not sure how that works....i know i will be down tomorrow, but just thinks it's interesting that i would be up the same after a LC day as a high carb day. the one nice thing about having had such a high fat day yesterday is i have zero hunger right now. not sure if it some of that gain was rebound from such a big loss yesterday (-3.4 lbs) or if it was all from my high fat day.

Carrie, this IS interesting. My carbs were very high yesterday, and I am hungry today. I've decided to bump up my DD calories to the 800-900 range. We'll see how that goes. I am mainly doing that because I want to go into my surgery strong. I've also be noticing hair loss, but, don't know if it is related. It is similar to the hair loss I experienced while on hhcg. I need to get some biotin.

Down .8 after my up day to 128.4. Puts me 1.8 pounds less than two weeks ago. Making progress! 1.4 pounds to get back to my low from 10 days ago.

I'm up .4 lb but after a nice UD and that huge piece of strawberry cake last night I'm not disappointed at all. I hope this DD I won't be hungry but fear it as I ate quite a few carbs yesterday-the cake alone. My first DDs I had no hunger but last few I have been hungry and eaten more. We'll see. 154.4

Anne,

I agree, this is success!!! That is a very minimal gain after an UD. I think you will be very happy with the scale tomorrow.

166.2 today, but saw 165.4 yesterday. I'm hating these fluctuations, but I know it's par for the course. It's a DD for me, so maybe tommorow will bring the 164s? Tommorow is my official 2 week weigh in. I started JUDDD 2 weeks ago, and said that if I was 165 in 2 weeks that I'd declare it a smashing success. I'm ready to commit to another 2 weeks. That's how I'm trying to look at this weight loss journey - in little bits at a time. I get so overwhelmed thinking that I still need to lose 30 lbs.

Trying not to freak out here, but yesterday, after eating at the chinese buffet and having 2 glasses wine, I woke up to 150# on the scale (after a low of 147) and then today it's saying 151# after an under 500 calorie DD!

I hope it's just my body readjusting after the buffet (so much salty, sweet sauce-laden foods) and the 2 glasses of wine I had late Monday night and that I will get my losses back! I was so close to goal.

Staying optimistic.

I'm Very Happy With the Results

Woke up today and was only up 1 lb after my first UD, but was down 2 lbs after my first DD so still a 1 lb weight loss.

This may be TMI but shortly after weighing and some caffeine I needed to use the restroom and of course I was curious and re-weighed myself. Well now I am only .2 up from yesterday, so i 2 days overall down 1.8 lbs only 2 days in.

I was seriously prepared to be up 2-3 lbs because I felt like I ate SOOO much food yesterday and we had dinner late. I even had an ice cream bar for a treat. My carbs were at just under 100 net carbs.

I am still in shock.

Carrie: I think this is a YMMV thing. It may very well be that you're up due to the salt...I wouldn't dismiss the low carb/high fat UD. You may have a different result with it next time.

For me, I am coming off of an UD (1963 cal/155 net carbs), after a DD, MD, and a DD. This morning I am down 1.4 pounds from yesterday's weigh-in where I stayed completely the same. It's so crazy...like Pat always says, it's almost like there's no rhyme or reason. The scale's gonna do what the scale's gonna do. It didn't matter that I had just had 2 DDs and a MD...the scale wasn't gonna show me a loss. But after an almost 2000 cal day, I lose 1.4 pounds? Where's the logic? I'm sure it's there, but I don't get it.

So, DD for me today!!

Hi Amy! I'm also up pounds (from a late dinner at a Chinese buffet Monday), and I also did very well on my DD yesterday. UD again for both of us Just remember to get all those calories in today, or as close as you can. I hope we have a loss to report soon.

Morning All! I'm reading your threads and agree that keeping optimistic is the key here.

Your body is trying to figure out what is going on, especially if you were a LCer/VLCer for awhile. Your body is rebelling, wanting you to go back to eating like it was use to. And if we think about it, we can't gain 2, 3, 4 pounds over night, unless we are eating like Sumo wrestlers, and I don't think anyone here is doing that . It's water, plain and simple. Drink more and eat more water laden veggies to flush yourself out, but DON'T GIVE UP!! Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is your body going to switch without giving you a fight. Give it a chance, and stick to plan. That is the simple solution in the beginning.

And here are the enemies, in my book: SALT AND SUGAR! I will gain up to 2 pounds after an UD of salty/sugary foods like Chinese or BBQ. It's a given fact and I know this is going to happen, so I plan to see a gain after eating these foods. When I KNOW this is going to happen, it takes the out of weighing after an UD for me. I have never had a problem eating any grain carbs but give me a salty/sugary thing and BAM...there is that water gain! Not fun, but not an issue when you come to understand that this is the "bouncing ball on the stairs" thing, as Pat says, that goes along with JUDDD. This is a reason Dr. Johnson suggests we not weigh after UDs. I can't do that, but maybe some will find it easier that way.

The weight comes off in a strange fashion at times. I have had losses after UDs and gains after DDs. Why? Who the heck knows but I do know that the progress is steady, in it's own way, and that is all that matters really in the end. Bodies are just plain weird!

UD, cold and rainy, and today I'm hungry for the first time in weeks. Going to enjoy this UD with some stew or a steak!

Hope everyone has a great UD or DD! Congrats on the losses, maintaining and keeping optimistic!!

Busy morning on here already...

Carrie, sorry for the bounce up... I was hoping you would stay the same so I could try your plan today!! LOL I would bet its more "retention" of food maybe?? Not trying for TMI, but maybe its still hanging around? Your bounce of 3.4 could have been some water too which has refilled?? Those would be my thoughts, although I am not Pat obviously... I am sure she will be along soon!!

Marie, well at least when we get what we expected, thats good... right?

As for me, I did basically 2 DDs to make up for 2 UDs... and I lost about 4.2 lbs yesterday and then 3.2 this morning, but still up about 1 lb from where I was, but much better... pretty much my normal hang around area... 156.2-157.6 this is where I generally live... although I want to live at 140 or less!! LOL

Today I am going to eat UD and try not to be too UD!!! I am going to eat up to at least 1800 though today and enjoy it too!!!

Marie came to see where I was, so I'm popping in to say Hi! and to say that I'm maintaining on a DD today.. busy around the house and yard trying to get a lot of work done before the weather cools down much more. When I take a rare moment to pop into LCF, I'm drawn to that Playground thread about baby Lisa, as -for some reason- this has captured me and broken my heart.

But I'll read here and get caught up this evening before bedtime. Hugs to all!

Absolutely, happens to me all the time. There can be a 2 day effect from carbs, and there is also a rebound effect from alcohol. So you were dehydrated and then the next day, the carb water finally hit you. Double whammy.

Happens to me all the time, especially from late night carbs and/or alcohol.

OTOH, I sometimes get a 2 day effect from my losses (have to love it when it happens in reverse). For example I lost a pound after my last DD, and then another .8 the next day. Hopefully you'll go RIGHT back to the losing pattern!

I haven't been doing this very long, but due to all the HIGH FIBER foods I'm using on a DD, I am not surprised to see the scale stay the same or even go up a little after a DD. All that stuff absorbs a lot of water, you know!

And then because my UDs are still pretty low carb (diabetic here), the food I eat tends to not weigh as much or hold much water. So I seem to be "losing" all day on an UD, actually!

Still haven't seen an overall loss because whenever I hit a new low, I almost always regain 3-5 lbs, then it takes me about 2 weeks to see the next low, which is--if I'm lucky--a loss of no more than 1/2lb. Ah, the joys of being a woman!!! This week's trend seems to be downward...I hope to have some good news in the next couple days!!!

So, DD for me today!!
Something about getting in all those UD calories makes it work so well I was shocked I lost after an UD too.

Beeb, thanks for the uplifting post - it's a great encouragement and reminder that I'm just dealing with the weight of salt/sugar/carbs, and my body didn't suddenly make pounds of fat overnight! This will settle down and who knows, maybe there are more fat losses I'll uncover by the time the water is gone!

This was a good experience in a way because I see now what certain food will do to me, and that it is temporary, but I must take it into consideration if I'm going to eat certain foods or at certain restaurants.

Thanks, Paula I'm more realistic about this now than the freaking out I was doing when I first saw the scale. Holding out hope that the losing pattern picks up where it left off
