My first DD! My plan:
B: De-caf coffee and lots of water L: Salad with 3 ounces of tuna and fat-free dressing (220) D: Stir fried chicken and broccoli (200) S: Wasa crackers with almond butter(96) That gives me a total of 516 with 127 additional calories to spend as I like. PS/ Pat, your menu looks YUM! Last edited by AnnF; 09-22-2011 at 06:52 AM.. |

My UD menu is using up the last odds and ends of food in the house today. LOL Tomorrow I go shopping again, and it's time to stock back up on a lot of foods that have been missing from my refrigerator and pantry shelves for a little bit. Hang tough today!!! And enjoy that sweet *flat belly* feeling that comes with a successful DD. It's a strange thing, but after awhile you grow to treasure the feeling of a lean flat stomach on your DDs. ![]() |

Yummmm! everyone's menus look so good!
Mine's not bad, actually: B: Yogurt, banana, 1/2 muffin, coffee/milk L: Chicken sandwich, veggies, apple D: Grilled chicken, butternut squash oven-fries and roasted veggies Snack: Mango sorbet (no gourmet recipe, just frozen fruit pulverized in the Ninja blender!), coconut chai tea with milk. Total: 13 PPs! Right on target for a DD. Having tons of protein on a DD helps with the feeling of satiation. |

Dazy's and Rachel's Down Day menus sound great too!
I think the more we post our menus, for both Down Days and Up Days, the more we can get an idea of what works for folks, ideas for what we might be able to eat and still be able to lose or maintain, etc. Plus get great ideas for ways WE want to try it next! |

Everybody's menus sound so good and effective.
My menu went out the window after breakfast. We had an eye appointment for DH, so left home about 11:30 and didn't get done with it until 2:30, so I just made chicken noodle soup and bologna sandwiches! I'll have to go in and adjust my ****** food log, either up or down, so I know where I stand right now before it's time for supper preparations.Strange thing. I'm already looking forward to my DD tomorrow. You know..... They are just plainly easier. |

Well, so far I've stuck to my menu. Strangely I got very bloated after eating my salad for lunch and still feel a bit "windy." I have to suspect the salad dressing-- it was a packet I snagged from the work fridge, since I don't yet have much in the way of low fat foods. Off to make dinner.

Broccoli doesn't bother me at all, thank heavens. I eat it three or four times a week!
It was very strange to notice my belly was larger this afternoon and know I'd only had 230 calories all day. Oh dear lord... I just had some 1% cottage cheese with 1/4 cup fresh pineapple for dessert. That pineapple is the first fruit I have eaten in months and it tastes so goooooood!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your mother's salad reminds me of the Ambrosia salad my grandmother always used to make. Remember that stuff? With mandarin oranges, pineapple chunks, miniature marshmallows, coconut and sour cream? I just loved it.
Glad I nudged your memory about pineapple! It's so good with yogurt or cottage cheese... or just broiled and served warm... Mmmmmm...! |

I'm having an amazing Down Day.
This morning I enjoyed 3 mugs of coffee, each with 2 tbsps of half & half. I haven't experienced any hunger or appetite until this last little bit, so had a hard boiled egg and a little wedge of light cheese. I have another egg peeled and ready for later, and have a couple more wedges of cheese for later too, but... That will only bring my calories up to 343, so if I'm not hungry for much of anything else, I think I will just enjoy this day of near-fasting and give my digestive system a break! ![]() What is it about JUDDD that ends that *run away train* kind of appetite? Interesting effect of this calorie cycling plan. All I can say is, I certainly do appreciate it! Finding my appetite so completely under control is a Godsend for me. |

Pat, my theory is that it's because we were physically and emotionally satisfied the day before that gives us the ability to power thru a DD. Averaging the calories of the UD and the DD, we get two normal-ish days, right? So there's a carry-over from the UD to the DD, and I can't wait till the book arrives so I can see whether this is just my fanwank or actual facts.
My menu: Breakfast was 1/2 a muffin, a banana and cawfee! Lunch didn't get eaten till 3:00-ish because I had to go to the airport cargo terminal to pick up my cousin's kittehs, who she had to rehome because of severe allergies. It consisted of a bagel thin, two slices of FF cheese, a red pepper and a yogurt. Dinner was a chicken breast simmered with veggies, tomato sauce and Coke Zero, served over polenta. Now I'm full for the evening, but there's a tad bit of Coke Zero left with my name on it. And maybe Max the new cat will surface from under the couch. Fugee is hissing and moo-ing whenever he tries (I have the only moo-ing cat on the planet!) but they'll work it out. Tomorrow's a MD and Sunday is my first UD, with my niece's 16th b-day celebration at a Greek restaurant that has the. best. fried. calamari. on Earth. Yup, I've researched this! ![]() ![]()
