B: De-caf coffee and lots of water
L: Salad with 3 ounces of tuna and fat-free dressing (220)

Looks like a good start! I love stir fry too, so often have that on my DDs.

My UD menu is using up the last odds and ends of food in the house today. LOL Tomorrow I go shopping again, and it's time to stock back up on a lot of foods that have been missing from my refrigerator and pantry shelves for a little bit.

Hang tough today!!! And enjoy that sweet *flat belly* feeling that comes with a successful DD. It's a strange thing, but after awhile you grow to treasure the feeling of a lean flat stomach on your DDs.

dazygyrl 09-22-2011 07:40 AM

DD today.

i am keeping it uber simple.

4T HH in my coffee
6 eggs spread throughout the day

total calories 500. (DD calorie goal 465-560)

Rachelocity 09-22-2011 07:42 AM

Yummmm! everyone's menus look so good!

Mine's not bad, actually:

B: Yogurt, banana, 1/2 muffin, coffee/milk
L: Chicken sandwich, veggies, apple
D: Grilled chicken, butternut squash oven-fries and roasted veggies
Snack: Mango sorbet (no gourmet recipe, just frozen fruit pulverized in the Ninja blender!), coconut chai tea with milk.

Total: 13 PPs! Right on target for a DD. Having tons of protein on a DD helps with the feeling of satiation.

AmyInTX 09-22-2011 07:53 AM

DD....

B- 1/2 c eggbeaters; coffee with 2 tsp of creamer = 80

L- 1/2 flax wrap; tuna salad with mustard with 7 queen size olives chopped up in it= 220

D- 2 c iceberg lettuce; 2 T lite dressing; 4 oz grilled chicken breast= 168.2

S- Diet Cocoa made with water= 25

total for the day= 493.2

pretty boring day food wise ....

have a great day everyone!!!

Dazy's and Rachel's Down Day menus sound great too!

I think the more we post our menus, for both Down Days and Up Days, the more we can get an idea of what works for folks, ideas for what we might be able to eat and still be able to lose or maintain, etc.

Plus get great ideas for ways WE want to try it next!

catjrow3 09-22-2011 08:36 AM

Wow, I have not thought the day through yet, but so far...

Breakfast: Blueberry Pancake with SF syrup (180 calories)
AM Snack: Protein shake or yogurt with banana
Lunch: Tuna fish sandwich with a yogurt
PM Snack: ??
Dinner: ??? maybe a stroganoff with left over roast beef?? not sure,
Evening Snack: ?? LOL

I usually only eat as I go! And so far, just breakfast down! LOL Time to exercise, enjoy ladies!

AnnF 09-22-2011 09:21 AM

I love reading everyone's menus!

Joedi 09-22-2011 09:31 AM

Pat..your lunch sounds delicious...cranberries in salad..yumm!..

And rachelocity, think I may have to steal your mango sorbet idea!

AnnF - how did you find your first DD...your menu looks good...how was the hunger?

Dazygyrl - I have often thought of doing an egg DD - does it fill you up? I tend to go for quantity on DD's!

I have had a good DD...once again I have amazed myself at just how much food I can make out of 500 odd calories....if only I could make my money go as far! :hyst:

B - egg white omelette, with spinach and salsa - 58

L - Shirataki noodle soup 63
DD Coffee Omm 45

D- Tuna salad with walden farms dressing 138
1/3 DD muffin 18

S- 100g carrot battons 26
1 scoop protein shake, made with water, ice and cocoa powder 112
Coffee with coffee mate 30
Glu pudding made with sf jello pudding mix 64
stick sugar free gum 3

Total - 558 cals

11 g fat
33g net carbs
73g protein

I always seem to do better with higher protein...on days when my protein is lower...I am hungrier!

Also had a nice long walk with DH today...a good hour or more..so all in all, a good DD! They do seem to, as a rule, be getting easier :jumpjoy:

hugs to all
Jo

Me too! I ALWAYS keep a snack for evening...maybe some fat free greek yogurt, and some stewed rhubarb, a DD muffin, or some gluc pudding.

I am happy with hot drinks between tea and my last "snack"..having it to look forward to keeps me going!

Enjoy your UD tomorrow!

Everybody's menus sound so good and effective.

My menu went out the window after breakfast. We had an eye appointment for DH, so left home about 11:30 and didn't get done with it until 2:30, so I just made chicken noodle soup and bologna sandwiches! :hyst: I'll have to go in and adjust my ****** food log, either up or down, so I know where I stand right now before it's time for supper preparations.

Strange thing. I'm already looking forward to my DD tomorrow. You know..... They are just plainly easier.

AnnF 09-22-2011 03:16 PM

Well, so far I've stuck to my menu. Strangely I got very bloated after eating my salad for lunch and still feel a bit "windy." I have to suspect the salad dressing-- it was a packet I snagged from the work fridge, since I don't yet have much in the way of low fat foods. Off to make dinner. :)

:hyst: You know how vlc gets rid of any gas issues? Well, the DD's of juddd..with the salads and low cal foods...can sometime "re-introduce" them!

The worst offenders for me are four of my very favorites.. broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, and cabbage. I just eat them anyway! :hyst:

Broccoli doesn't bother me at all, thank heavens. I eat it three or four times a week!

It was very strange to notice my belly was larger this afternoon and know I'd only had 230 calories all day.

Oh dear lord... I just had some 1% cottage cheese with 1/4 cup fresh pineapple for dessert. That pineapple is the first fruit I have eaten in months and it tastes so goooooood!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beeb 09-22-2011 09:55 PM

UPDATE: I got home really late and just had a snack of some Special K crackers and a laughing cow cheese, and one caramel candy.....125 calories

Grand total for today......677 Calories Hopefully with the extra liquids today and a lower DD than normal that 1.2 pounds will be gone tomorrow! :aprayer::D

Joedi 09-23-2011 01:47 AM

Make sure you post and let us know Linda!

OH! I have to put some pineapple on the grocery list for today! I love it too, and I also haven't had any in awhile. There is a fabulous frozen salad/dessert my mother always used to make that had pineapple and cream cheese and (I think) some baby marshmallows in it, and then I don't know what else. It was so delicious. Maybe I'll make a half-recipe of that. It's better than Ice Cream, which I now allow myself occasionally.

I'm so glad you mentioned the pineapple!

AnnF 09-23-2011 02:30 PM

Your mother's salad reminds me of the Ambrosia salad my grandmother always used to make. Remember that stuff? With mandarin oranges, pineapple chunks, miniature marshmallows, coconut and sour cream? I just loved it.

Glad I nudged your memory about pineapple! It's so good with yogurt or cottage cheese... or just broiled and served warm... Mmmmmm...!

I'm laughing here. I DID get pineapple when I got groceries with my sister this afternoon when we did our errands!

I'm doing a DD today, but I expect I'll be tasting pineapple in some way tomorrow! :)

I'm having an amazing Down Day.

This morning I enjoyed 3 mugs of coffee, each with 2 tbsps of half & half. I haven't experienced any hunger or appetite until this last little bit, so had a hard boiled egg and a little wedge of light cheese. I have another egg peeled and ready for later, and have a couple more wedges of cheese for later too, but...

That will only bring my calories up to 343, so if I'm not hungry for much of anything else, I think I will just enjoy this day of near-fasting and give my digestive system a break!

What is it about JUDDD that ends that *run away train* kind of appetite? :dunno: Interesting effect of this calorie cycling plan. All I can say is, I certainly do appreciate it! Finding my appetite so completely under control is a Godsend for me.

Rachelocity 09-23-2011 04:20 PM

Pat, my theory is that it's because we were physically and emotionally satisfied the day before that gives us the ability to power thru a DD. Averaging the calories of the UD and the DD, we get two normal-ish days, right? So there's a carry-over from the UD to the DD, and I can't wait till the book arrives so I can see whether this is just my fanwank or actual facts.

My menu: Breakfast was 1/2 a muffin, a banana and cawfee! Lunch didn't get eaten till 3:00-ish because I had to go to the airport cargo terminal to pick up my cousin's kittehs, who she had to rehome because of severe allergies. It consisted of a bagel thin, two slices of FF cheese, a red pepper and a yogurt. Dinner was a chicken breast simmered with veggies, tomato sauce and Coke Zero, served over polenta. Now I'm full for the evening, but there's a tad bit of Coke Zero left with my name on it. And maybe Max the new cat will surface from under the couch. Fugee is hissing and moo-ing whenever he tries (I have the only moo-ing cat on the planet!) but they'll work it out.

Tomorrow's a MD and Sunday is my first UD, with my niece's 16th b-day celebration at a Greek restaurant that has the. best. fried. calamari. on Earth. Yup, I've researched this! ;);)
