Shirataki Mistake!

Made a lovely pan of veg soup on my second DD...and added a whole pack shirataki noodles...yum!!!

Thought I was being super efficient, I froze several portions for further DD's.

Had one for lunch today...and oh my!

They had the texture of thin string...seriously, like chewing a clump of tasty cotton thread!

I was starving, and I dont like to waste food...so down they went (the rest of the soup was fine!)

Just googled "freeze shiritaki noodles" and found out, too late...you dont!
as the site said.."it will turn the noodles into cotton twine!"

The noodles I could get are Angel hair type..so probably the most delicate type!

Still have two portions of "Shiritaki String Soup" waiting for my next down day...

I wouldn't have thought about that, but I do remember sometime a long, long time ago reading that shirataki shouldn't be frozen, but it never occurred to me to mention it here. In a way, then, you can just blame me! Sorry. :blush:

On the other hand, the texture of shirataki noodles is never really wonderful. So maybe the cotton thread version isn't any worse, actually, than the rubber band version. LOL

Glad your soup was otherwise delicious.

Well it sure saved me having to floss

Rubberband texture I didnt mind...its the snack that keeps on giving!

No problem chewing each mouthful 20 times with Shiritaki noodles....
