The precepts are pretty much the same from the various studies. But I will also say, I can only tell of my experiences with this particular calorie cycling plan, JUDDD. Some of the diet and eating decisions I make for myself are also based on other studies I've known about over the years that relate to calorie cycling and fasting, so are things I think are very desirable for me to practice as I do JUDDD for myself.... Such as, really staying focused on the importance of holding DD calories down and the importance of *pushing the envelope* of the calorie ceiling on my UDs, without going over. For myself, this seems to increase my metabolic level and allow me to eat more calories overall than I used to be able to, and what a delight that is! LOL Such as, making sure that I DO include more carbs in my diet so that I don't make myself become truly carb intolerant, which seemed to be sort of happening to me at one time. I'm not going back to a high carb diet. Ever. But I want to be able to enjoy the occasional high carb food or treat without adverse reactions. Anyway, I'm no more an authority than anyone else here is. The book is the book. And how you interpret it, and how you wish to modify it is entirely up to us all. I just talk about how I do it, and how it works for me. And I think it's going to give you everything you are hoping for too!!!!! ![]()

Thought I would share something that I find very handy on DDs..
Do the Chocolate 'Slide! (Mudslide Recipe Swap!) but.. I change it. I dont use any alcohol, I use the WF chocolate syrup, and 1/2 cup of almond milk, and the total calories is 45 calories. Yummy and very filling (for a little while anyway) and can be good for a sweetness at night too. Just thought someone might like it as well as me!! |

Good evening everyone. My DD ended up going really well. Could be because I am sick a dog and rnning a darn fever. I did it to myself. I am in oklahoma and we have been having record heat and then al of a sudden 50s and 60s in the mornings. I go for a jog every morning at 5am before work and yesterday morning I was so excited that it was cool. It was in the 60s and extremely windy and drizzly. I should have known better. My throat started hurting last night but I was hoping it was nothing...well I was wrong. I have been weak and running fever and just miserable. I'm glad I made that soup this morning. It really hit the spot. I had what I planned for dinner but only 1 egg. I als made my own cucumber tomato salad just to have in the fridge to grab a bite of cucumber. It turned out wonderful I cut up 1 cucumber, half a tomato and a few slices of onion. Put some sea salt and ground pepper on top. I added 2T kraft light italian drssing and then poured some juice from my sf bay gherkins jar over it. Put it in the fridge and its awesome. I still have quite a bit of that in the fridge but its nice to justvgrab a slice of cucumber for something sweet. Anyway I feel horrible but my DD was under 500 cals....lol.
Have a good evening ladies. I'm on my phone posting. I may end up home from work tomorrow because of this but the bad thing is that if I don't go to work I won't get my holiday pay for today. :-( But if I'm running fever still I can't go. At least I'm not hungry. I did have a bite of banana nut bread but I don't think it put me over. Anyway I'm rambing. I gonna go take some drugs and go to bed early.

Shelly, that's awful. I'm so sorry you're feeling sore throat and feverish right now. Hopefully if you gargle with salt water and get to bed early this evening, so that you get in an extra hour or two of sleep, you'll feel much, much better in the morning!
Good job on holding the DD calories to your low ceiling today! Way to go. I think you'll be seeing weight loss as the days and weeks continue. Feel better. ![]() |

I do that a lot too, mostly when I arrive here and there have been a lot of posts by others to catch up on. If I don't answer them individually or combine only a couple at a time, I get lost and am always afraid I'll miss somebody that I want to respond to. As it is, sometimes there is a post that I somehow get past and miss, and I always feel sorry about that.

Shelly hope you get over what ever bug you have soon. I skipped one of my DD days
early last week and the scale said I gained 3lbs. Well after 2 DD days and 2 up days that 3lbs is gone and another one besides that. So I am now 285 lbs and it wasn't that long ago I was just wishing the scale would get under 300lbs again. The last time I was at the doctor I had expected to be just under 300lbs but instead I was 300.4 . In some of the reading I have been doing it says that exercising in the fasted state is better for fat loss and redusing insulin resistance. To go along with this I am going to start exercising on my up day before I eat. Hope everone has a good day today. |

Got back from cruise yesterday- had an AWESOME time. Have not weighed because tv is broken and can't use my Wii. I ate every two hours all weekend and loved every bite lol. I also took the stairs almost every time when going down. I took the stairs about half the time when going up. I danced my butt off and walked a LOT. My feet and legs are swollen horribly, I'm pretty sure its drainage from my knees though. ( 8 knee surgeries, way too much activity this weekend) I drank roughly 5 gallons of water between Friday afternoon and Sunday nite so should be plenty hydrated.
So no clue what the damage is but don't really care. Back on track today. Booked next cruise for New years weekend. Goal- Onderland! I can do that! |

Good morning ladies... DD #2 completed and
![]() for an UD today! Like last time, woke up hungry and ready to eat. I also woke up with a 1.4 loss on the scale again!! I will take that any day!! Official day is still on Friday, but I have gone down 2.6 so far. And should not be too much of water weight, as i was already dieting before I started this, but either way, glad to be down. And to eat today!! Just had a nice pancake for breakfast and think I will go do some exercise now!!Dwhalen, curious as well where you went. We went to the Bahamas on a cruise a couple years ago (my all time heaviest weight) and was miserable, and I plan to go again at a much lower weight and see if I enjoy it more!! Hope you all have a great morning! Beeb, love the new Avatar!!

I could never maintain a diet on a cruise. Im like a kid in a candy shop. I want it all.
Ok, my weight loss efforts have paid off. I started JUDD last Tuesday with a DD. I weighed 169. Today I weigh 162.5. That's a 6.5 pound weight loss! Would of been less if I hadn't strayed Sunday night. But I will take this loss happily. Today is an UP day and I have to work. It is easier to be on an up day when I work. So both my workdays are up days this week. Hope everyone has a good week!

Morning everyone. I'm sitting in the doctors office waiting to see if I strep or the flu. Fun fun! I weighed this morning and just knew I would see a small loss from my DD yesterday but I was exactly the same. And then of course 3lbshigher than this morning when I weighedat the doc offce. I hate scales! UD today but I don't know if I will be enjoying it too much since my throat hurts so bad. I hav had coffee and a pieceof coconut bark. I tried to ea some scrambled eggs and managed maybe 1.5 of the 3 I made. Have agood day ladies.

Oh Shelley, I am so sorry to hear you are so sick! Lots of people around here got sick this weekend, too. We had temps of 103 and 108 on Friday and Saturday - then Sunday and yesterday, we didn't make it out of the 60s. A 40-degree temp swing in a day, unbelievable.
My holiday weekend was great - lots of friends and family, lots of food, lots of fun. I'm up a few pounds as expected but don't care, I had a blast! It'll comeback off. I just wish it came off as fast as it went on lol. EVERYONE noticed my weight loss, and some of the ones who had pooh-poohed the DD concept before had an about-face, and I wouldn't be surprised if they give JUDDD a try. My schedule is going to be totally messed up this week - a couple of business commitments that mean dinner out tonight and tomorrow, and with a friend on Thursday, so I am making these next three days MDs. I've never done that on JUDDD but will be interested to see how it works out, given my upward bounce over the weekend. I'm really hoping I might come down at least a pound, but if I don't, as long as I maintain I'll be happy. Love cruises! I love any kind of traveling. I'm going to take my mom to Aruba at the end of the month. Got a screaming good timeshare deal but airfare is kinda high, so we'll mostly eat in to keep our spending down, but that's no problem for me. |

I guess I'm just saying, I know you will experience loss, so don't be too disappointed that you didn't see any after yesterday's DD. I've even seen myself UP in weight after a DD, so you sure can't count on anything when it comes to our bodies weight fluctuations, gains and/or losses. Hope you feel better soon. ![]() |

Well the verdict is..........................strep throat!!!! I cant believe that. I havent that in years. My throat is sure killing me though. It really sucks that today is a UD instead of DD. I wont be eating much today, hurts too bad. I tried to eat a few nuts and managed some but couldnt do many. I have some atkins shakes in the fridge so that will probably be lunch and then ill have a protein shake for dinner and maybe some fage. Im drinking some hot tea right now. That feels good but it still hurts!!!!
Its so cool to see the losses. You guys are doing great. I did last week but the initial water weight and now im holding steady but i know it will come off. I dont want to lose much anyway. I look bad if i get below 137 but when i was 137 before i didnt have the muscle i do now so im thinking 140 is probably going to be good for me adn keep this muscle i have. So just a few lbs. Those few lbs can take forever though i know that!! LOL Im gonna try to get some rest. |
