Hi all! Just discovered this thread. Hope you all don't mind me jumping in. I also just discovered JUDDD. Had my first down day yesterday, did great. Down 2.2 this morning. I have so much more control doing this. Been struggling along, on and off Atkins for awhile, and this seems so easy! You all seem to be doing so well on it too! Do you eat LC on your UD's?

Hi Vicki!
![]() ![]() I'm glad you're here. I cannot answer your questions, 'cuz I'm new here too and still asking questions! LOL! ![]() I do eat LC on both my DDs and UDs. 20 or below on my DDs and I'm shooting for 30 or below on my UDs. As I said I'm brand-new so I've only had a couple of each and I'm learning with the gracious help of people in this thread. Welcome aboard! ![]() |

Vicki-Personally, I eat low carb for health and do JUDDD for weight loss/maintenance. As has been noted, low carb isn't required for JUDDD--it's entirely a calorie cycling plan, but many of us here are low carbers--others not so much. Blonde- I think your body is just adjusting to the big loss. As I repeatedly tell people on the ML, the body regards weight loss as a negative, and since we only empty the fat cells and don't lose them, the body sometimes fills those fat cells with water, hoping the fat will return Eventually, when it doesn't (i.e. we stay on plan), it will dump that water, and we'll finally see our actual loss on the scale. That's why my habit of marking my weight each week on the calendar (that's my 'chart' RealFood) has been so helpful to me because I've been able to see how my body 'works' and not get to distressed when the scale shows no loss. A couple of times, I went as long as 3 weeks with no loss at all, and then I "lost" 4 lbs the next week. I didn't lose 4lbs in one week; it was just my usual 1lb weekly loss finally showing up on the scale. |

Thank you again Leo!!
Your help is awesome! ![]() And thank you for giving me specifics on the chart. I'm going to do that and I know it will help in those weeks where the scale does not show the loss. |

Hey JUDDDers!!
I am so glad to see everyone doing well! Kisha - Wow, love the profile pic. You look great!! Dasiey - I think that's a good idea on not weighing too often, although I should practice what I preach. I am considering only weighing once a week, because the fluctuations have been frustrating. I am up and down the same pounds. I have been sticking to JUDDD consistantly and my weight is hanging around 125. It just doesn't seem to want to budge. Today is 30 days no alcohol and 3 weeks gluten free. I have to admit, I feel a little frustrated, but I also started exercising alot more, and I know that doesn't always reflect on the scale. I have been doing 500 calorie DD and I mean I use every single calorie. When I plug in the numbers on the JUDDD site it should be 405. I am going to lower my DD calories and see if that helps. I have also laid off the cheese. I love it too much..lol. Leo - What is the recipe for your egg white omelet? I am going to change some things up. If I am hungry in the morning I might add one of your omelets. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! Michelle

Michelle- If you're working out, try not to weigh the next day. The day after I do my strength work, I can count on at least 2 extra lbs on the scale. It seems that muscles retain water for healing purposes.
I'm putting my omelet recipe on the recipe thread (although I mentioned it already there, I'll give more detail). |

Blonde--thanks so much for posting your success. Congratulations!
Realfood--I wish I could find those kinds of shiritake noodles here but unfortunately the only store in my area to carry them has the soy version. I think it's called "House Foods" or something--don't have any around. I get the Miracle Noodles via the mail and it works out to about $2 a package, kinda high, but I'm worth it! For those who have issue with their texture you might want to try something I do with them--I have a spiral slicer that makes angel hair out of zucchini, and if you mix the zucchini angel hair in with the shiritake angel hair, it's actually quite remarkable. If you don't have a spiral slicer you can use a veggie peeler to make very thin zucchini strips that will be more like linguine than angel hair--but it still works great. Plus zucchini is so low-cal. I was always a daily weigher and I'm trying very hard to not jump on the scale every morning. I want to give this diet the best possible chance. I have the distressing tendency of letting the scale affect my eating for the day. If I'm down on the scale I'm apt to sneak in a little bit extra, thinking a little bit won't hurt. If I'm up, I'm depressed and think I might as well eat what I want since what I'm doing obviously isn't working. I'm going to try to stick to weekly weigh-ins on this plan. Well, I'll only get in one more, next Tuesday, because next Saturday DH and I leave for our annual 3-week winter trip and there won't be any scales around. Donna |

Donna- I'm exactly the same way--the scale number affects my mood too much, so that's why I weigh weekly. I often have to fight the temptation to get on the scale on other days, but I remind myself of how badly I behave if I don't see a 'good' number, and that usually keeps me away

As to eating Low Carb on this plan, I think we all have our own level of carbs and calories, depending on what works the best for us. I just don't do well at all at very low carb levels. My thyroid function just crashes!!! (I'm on thyroid medication.) If I eat at a moderate mid-range carb level, I feel absolutely great and experience no hypothyroid symptoms at all. Yesterday was a DD for me, so 36 net carbs and 490 calories. The day before that was a MD, and at a higher level at 98 net carbs and 890 calories. Today is an UD and so far I've had 61 net carbs and 680 calories. Dinner and a probable evening snack is yet to come. LOL I chose JUDDD for maintenance when I first became aware that there was a group here, and it is great for that. Lately though I've lost 4 pounds on it, which is nice, as I don't lose with great ease since I'm so old. I'm not aiming for a great deal of weight loss as I fear its deepening the facial lines and wrinkles from weight loss more than I fear staying where I am with a little 'roundness' to my form. ![]() Last edited by SoHappy; 01-19-2011 at 02:27 PM.. |

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I'm nearing the end of my first UP day (second day on plan), and I have not been as hungry today as I expected. This is great! I still need to lose around 40 pounds, and I have hope that when the weight comes off, that this WOE will be very simple to maintain long term. Just so easy and uncomplicated. Thanks again!

Evening Y'all!
I hope everyone had a great evening. I did for sure! ![]() My 2nd UP day went well (IMHO): Calories 1,424 Carbs 20.7 Feeling good and excited about my DD tomorrow! I have a lot of baking (breads) to do tomorrow and I don't want to think about food. ![]() So, I'm glad to be busy with other things and just get through the 500 DD calorie day. Have a restful evening y'all! |

Hi everyone, hopping back in here...The last time I tried JUDDD I lost 5 lbs.--it was the first time the scale really moved in over a year. For the most part I've kept that 5 lbs. off. I'm not sure I can sustain JUDDD long-term but I'll see what happens this time. I'm on Metformin now so maybe the insatiable hunger on my Down Days will be alleviated somewhat...
Menu for today: One piece low-carb toast with cream cheese (needed some fat to take the metformin with) Two big bowls of vegetable soup. Lemon tea

Hi everyone! I've been MIA for the last couple of weeks, work got out of hand (it does every 3 months, quarterly reporting and it *consumes* me and causes me no end of stress) but I'm back and after a couple of bumps, no worse for wear. I didn't do much JUDDDing over the past two weeks, but I did do a down day Monday and get back my JUDDD mojo and have had Monday & Wednesday as two good down days.
So I feel like I'm back on track and ready to get some weight loss work done! |

Good Morning. It's fun to see folks back who have been away for a bit. It seems like the more we have posting the more exciting it stays, and that is great help in staying motivated if you're just starting out, and helps you keep cementing your habit if you've been doing JUDDD awhile. Success breeds success sort of thing.
Today is a DD for me. Another small loss on the scale this morning, even after my UD yesterday, so that's good motivation for me. I'm going to have a happy DD. ![]() |

Good Morning!!
Welcome back Vee!! ![]() I love all the input! ![]() I'm with you SoHappy, the more we post, the more it helps us noobies and returners. ![]() I stayed the same on the scale after my UP day, which I guess is good. Today is my DD and I'm looking forward to warm drinks. I'm soooo cold right now! But I'll be working in the kitchen today, doing a large batch of baking so the oven will make me very warm and I'll need my ice water to cool me down, LOL! (And yeah, being post-menopausal adds to the hot/cold issue for me!)I get to actually claim my weight on Sunday after my DD on Saturday, so yeah. So far, I'm down 4 pounds and almost to a new decade. I hope to be there by Sunday, but we'll see. I'm feeling MUCH better overall on this WOE even though I'm still tweaking and learning and adjusting my days and intake. I know this is good for me to lose weight and hopefully for maintenance like some of you. Have a wonderful day y'all! Don't forget we have a separate thread for menus and recipes! |
