Yes, I meant to say also, that I enjoy reading others dd menus even though a lot of the time I have to stick to liquids on dd's. I'll start...yesterday I had nothing until last night. I had 2 eggs, fried on my griddle with no oil or butter, and about a half a can of green beans. 175 calories, then later I had a 140 calorie granola bar with a cup of black coffee, which brought my total for the day to 315 calories. I did go to bed early but that seems to be what I always do on dd's...I've heard others mention doing that too.
Today is an UD. So far, just sipping some hot coffee with some cream in it because I am FREEZING Getting ready to go to church but not looking forward to the cold outside if I'm this cold inside! I am not a cold weather person! Enjoy your day today!

Yesterday was a fun UD.. a football party next door at our elder neighbor's home. She is 80 years old and a RABID football fan!
She had lots of crackers and cheeses and sliced meats, chips and dips, Bar-B-Q beef sandwiches, cookies and candy, and beer and wine. I had a little of everything and enjoyed the dickens out of it all. Fun party. But I'm needing today's DD.. I'm up .8 of a pound from yesterday's carbs, and sodium too probably. Today's DD menu: breakfast: mid-morning 4 egg white scramble 1 slice lite 40-calorie toast, plain lunch: early afternoon 1 carton lite 80-calorie strawberry yogurt 2 oz. orange segments early supper: very late afternoon 3 oz. chopped romaine lettuce 2 oz. tuna, water packed 2 tbsp. Aldi's lite Italian dressing late supper: later evening 5 oz. green beans, canned 8 oz. broccoli florets, steamed 1 tbsp. balsamic vinegar beverages: lots and lots of hot tea (a.m.) and iced tea (p.m.) no sweeteners ****** says 483 calories Hope Everybody has a great day today! I hope to get a lot accomplished. Keeping busy really helps on a Down Day, and although I don't really find it hard to keep beneath 500 calories, having lots of chores to do and errands to run helps keep the day moving along so that I don't begin to think I'm too hungry. ![]() |

Cynthia: I get what you are saying! I have been slacking for a few weeks and although I only gained two pounds back I have a harder time than you probably do.
Tomorrow is a DD and I hope I can actually stick to it. For some reason staying at 600 cals is much easier for me. I continue to push myself activity wise, but I've turned in to a real couch potato. When I do something it's Pilates, walking with Leslie Sansone, or a Kettlebell DVD from the Firm. I've been under a great deal of stress due to a health issue with DH and that doesn't help.

Hi, Suze!
Well, I'm 57 now, and ever since menopause my body seems to gain weight quickly and lose weight uber-slowly... I'm facing that couch-potato tendency, too. I just keep reminding myself that after 21 days, a new behavior will have become a habit, and then it'll be easier to keep it going. Hope your DD goes well. |

My weight is down another pound, after a very moderate UD yesterday.
I don't expect the scale to go down every day over the long-term, but it sure is nice to see this at the beginning of my return to JUDDDing. I'm delighted that people want to share DD menus. Thanks, SoHappy! On Friday, I fasted on tea & water during the day, then had for dinner: Salsa Poached Eggs: 2 eggs (140 calories) 12 T La Victoria Salsa (30) ¾ C frozen mixed veg (50) 2 slices Ezekiel bread (160) ½ C cottage cheese (100) Total 480 calories DD for me today. I'm sipping orange & spice flavored green tea. Will be fasting until dinnertime. Time to go get ready for church. I'll be back later w/ my menu for dinner. Enjoy the day! Hi there! I did JUDDD last year for a little while and it worked pretty well for me, so I thought that I'd start it up again now that Thanksgiving is over and I'm back home.
I'm also doing Fast 5, which is also working for me, since I don't think so much about food. Anyway, I'm just stopping in to say hi! Carrollee |

Do you fast 5 on your UD's? I have decided for the time being to just go with the flow on UD's, and eat when I'm hungry but eat healthily and not overeat. I worry that if I try to do too much too fast, I will feel too deprived and go off plan altogether. However, I think Fast 5 is a great way to keep from overeating when you know you're going to be going out or wanting something really high calorie on an UD because it helps you control calories some. I tend to naturally eat more calories in the evening anyway, so it works perfect for me, even if I don't fast, I naturally have fewer calories before evening anyway. I like seeing how others make it work. ![]() |

Hi All--
I'd like to be supportive, but I don't plan to post any menus--or read yours. I'm sorry, but reading about food when I'm on a DD is difficult for me, and posting my menus does nothing to make me 'accountable.' In fact, if I had to have some external accountability, I'd feel like a failure in this process. I believe that I'm internally motivated to lose (and maintain), and I rarely write anything down. I know that it's supposed to be helpful to keep a food journal, but I think this is an individual issue. I have always been a 'mental' planner, and I am trying to keep my eating as 'natural' as possible so that it will truly become a WOE about which I don't have to think much at all. Ever since I've been doing JUDDD, I've kept my DDs free of 'food cues,' and that's probably been most helpful to me in keeping my DDs, so I'd like to continue. |

Well, I think the solution is obvious.
Let's start a JUDDD Down-Day Menus thread, just for those of us who find it helpful to post menus. Let's keep the general JUDDD discussion here. I'll do it, now. Thanks for being honest with us, Leo. |

Oh, No! I didn't mean that YOU shouldn't post your menus!
I was just trying to explain why I wouldn't do it. Or comment on your plans. It's easy for me to skip any food or menus I see listed and only read discussion posts. There's no reason to start another thread because of me. |

If there is very little of that type of posting here, it is better for those who do not want to read about it. Otherwise, you are going to always be on the lookout for that sort of stuff... You will be reading our comments and discussion and then somebody will post what they want for the day, etc. Too hard to try to read here while at the same time having to pick through everyone's postings to avoid not seeing stuff you don't want to read about. I really think it will work wonderfully for everybody having the two threads, this way. Hugs to us all. This is going to work quite well. |

I agree, Leo that it's probably easier having two threads than someone having to sort through and skip the ones they don't want to read....I think it being general discussion on this thread is best and if we can keep the other one to menus only, that would be best too, then we can all benefit from the discussion in one place.

Walked for an hour again today. Felt very good.
I ended up fasting until about 5 p.m., so about 21 hours. Never did feel hungry. Having an easy time w/ DD #2, at least so far... |

Okay, tomorrow will be UD #2 for me.
I want to continue making healthy food choices. I want to try this: I will eat 3 healthy meals and a small, healthy snack in the evening. I won't be able to take an hour-long walk tomorrow; I've got a long, busy day at work and then my daughter & I are going to visit with some friends in the evening. So I will commit to riding my exercise bike for 30 minutes in the late afternoon. I feel so good about being back on JUDDD. I don't feel at all deprived, and I love the feeling of being at ease with my eating. Goodnight, everyone, Cynthia |

Today's a DD, but I miss my breakfast. I have a fasting blood draw at 9 am. I guess that helps get a good start on a DD, but I'm used to eating first thing in the morning, UD or DD, so I hate this. But I'll survive--that's one thing I've learned from JUDDD.

Hey JUDDDers!
Well, I am back...lol. I know, that wasn't long, was it? Honestly, I don't know how people do the HCG. I am STARVING. To me it basically feels like down day after down day. It's very low fat, so I am never satisfied with what I eat. I have followed it by the book and I am just too hungry. It makes JUDDD look like heaven. Anyway, I have learned a few things. 1) I have definitely been underestimating the amount of food I am eating. I measured out everything on the HCG diet, and 3.5oz of meat is NOT alot. I am going to measure until I get a handle on portions. 2) I CAN do a successful DD on the weekend. I just did 2 in row! 3) Fruit makes me hungrier. HCG requires a serving of fruit with each meal, that made me hungrier than before I ate anything. 4) I miss exercise. You are not supposed to start an exercise program if you don't already have one. I like to get my exercise in here and there. 5) I am worried that I am screwing up my already messed up metabolism. If there isn't anything in the drops then basically I am just doing a starvation diet. 6) I am back to the weight I was before I went and loaded for 2 days, so perfect time to get right back on track with JUDDD. 7) I CAN do this, and really want to. I told my husband I would like to stay home for a few weeks and not have any social obligations. I am starting to realize that's my downfall. He was totally cool with that, as he is struggling with his weight too. He knows when we go out with friends, we overindulge. Anyway, I missed you guys and JUDDD! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Good morning everyone! I was down today after my UD yesterday. I know it's water weight from my period but whatever! lol! down to 149.6. I know I'll be back to my sig weight this week and then I can focus on continuing to lose.
Michelle! yeah, starving doesn't sound like a good option and down day after down day is definitely not a good thing! rooting for you! okay, back to putting dinner in the crockpot for my family and getting on with our homeschool day! |

I'll be doing an UD today too, Cynthia. I'll keep it modest. Heading into the Christmas Season, I know I'll indulge somewhat more than is normal for me, so I'm trying to keep a tight rein on my eating if there isn't anything special going on. :-)
Leo, hope the results of your blood workup are great. And that you really enjoy your DD breakfast once you get home. LOL Michelle, I do think that by far the vast majority of people underestimate what portion size they have helped themselves to unless they measure their foods. Most folks on a diet won't.. they just plainly don't want to go to all that trouble. I never could see how they could even keep track of their carb counts if they didn't really accurately track the measurement of what they ate. On DDs, I weigh everything and enter it into ******, ounce by ounce. LOL But it's allowed me to maintain for quite awhile now. And as to working JUDDD into a busy social life or social season, I am finding that to be much easier than I thought it could be. Yay! I find I can do an every-other-day UD/DD routine unless there is something social coming up, then I can shift the days around as necessary, doing a couple of UDs in a row if need be. (But I don't ever do two DDs in a row.) Also, I've found I can do an UD for the majority of the day as though it were a DD.. then feel free to splurge on the calorie consumption in the evening at the social gathering to continue getting in my UD calories. Works very well for me. LB, you'll be right where your signature weight is fast. You do good at this and keep me encouraged. Although I find that this WOE is incredibly easy to adhere to. Have a great day, Everyone! I'll continue to log in here off and on today, as I enjoy reading all your posts, and regardless of whether you are on an UD or a DD, your participation in the JUDDD design of weight management keeps me interested and doing well too. |

Decision: I'll be joining those of you who are doing JUDDD for weight loss at this time. I've been maintaining my weight well for some time now, but at a level that is higher than I really want to be at. Not bad, but just not as slim as would be my ideal.
I'm 67 years old.. and have just received the BIG NOTICE that our HS 50th Reunion is coming up!!! We'll be having a great big 3-day shindig at the end of May. I will just have turned 68 years old before then, and I think I'm going to attend..... and be looking pretty slim and trim at that time. I don't color my salt & pepper hair, and the sagging and wrinkles are evident now in my older age, but I can at least look fit in my new smaller-sized clothes! So I'm now officially eating for weight loss rather than maintenance. Oh, wow. ![]() |

Michelle-
I'm glad to see you back! I am very 'suspicious' of the HCG diet, and it's interesting that you didn't get that stupendous appetite suppression that is supposed to come with it. I certainly couldn't do successive DDs--and never with fruit. Fruit just gives me hunger. That plan was initially created by a 'celebrity' doctor for those in the public eye (actresses, etc.) who wanted to drop a few pounds very, very fast. The problem I see with such restrictive eating is that, yes, you might get to your goal weight, but eating that way, you'd quickly bounce back up in weight as soon as you introduced other foods, it seems to me. I am also very, very skeptical of the claim that it 'resets' one's metabolism. There is absolutely nothing in the plan (I've read it) that would do anything except wreck the metabolism. Keep in mind that the current rage for this plan was resurrected by Kevin Trudeau, who has been involved in all sorts of scams, etc. I was interested in the fact that at least you've conquered your 'weekend' eating issue with HCG. I didn't want to mention it, but for me that type of thing is almost always psychological. It's the same with social occasions. If I dread them, I'm sure to overeat, but if I say to myself, "It's an UD, and if I eat like a 'normal' person and make good choices, this doesn't have to derail me," I am usually successful. That said, I try to limit them because they are challenging. SoHappy- Just don't get too thin! I admire you for having maintained for a while because I'm currently finding that challenging. I haven't gained, but only my good DDs have saved me. I know you'll look great at your reunion! |

I don't know if I have conquered the weekend eating, but I now know I can do it. I believe the weekend thing is definitely psychological. I just can't figure out what the deal is or why. We didn't do anything social after Thanksgiving this weekend and I had no problem. I think it might be the social thing. I will find out in the next couple of weeks.
