Happy Birthday, Pooticus!
This is my first weekend on JUDDD. I am just going to stay with alternating UDs and DDs for now. (On the main JUDDD thread, I posted a question about MDs. If you haven't been over there, I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts & experiences.) For tomorrow: I plan to fast on water & tea all day, then eat for dinner: 3 boiled eggs (240 cal) 1 T mayo (90 cal) 2 ryvita (80 cal) 2 C lettuce (20 cal) - (or 20 cal of bagged pre-washed salad) 1 T Bragg's dressing (45 cal) Total: 475 cal I think it helps to post my menu the day before. I feel confident when I've committed my plan for the DD. Goodnight, everyone. |

I haven't tried a medium day yet, loves2. So far I've stuck exactly to the alternate day thing. I may eventually give one a try, though.
Sorry not to be any help. |

Tomorrow will be my two weekversary, and I'm afraid to step on the scale. I manage 3 UD very well, but then I have 4 DD--three down days and one "doggone, I ate everything but the kitchen sink" day. I will have to have a better plan in place for next Sunday.
DD today menu calls for 4 oz shrimp with 1T low fat mayo 150 3 egg muffins 255 (these are mini quiches made in muffin tin) Hope we're all a bunch of losers this week. Pat |

Pat. You will figure it out soon. The first week or so, my MDs were UD too. I like Leo's idea of making MDs a DD with a little sompin sompin extra to add up to around 1000cals.Loves2 MDs are still the hardest thing to get right in my opinion. I do MWF DDs with TThS UDs and Sunday MD. I too prefer fasting on my DDs and eating most of my cals in a "normal" 400-450 cal dinner and then having a square of Lindt sometimes at the end of the night. So on my MDs what I've figured that I'm going to do is have a protein shake in the morning and at noon and that should get me to around 800-900 calories. Then if I wanted I could add a square of Lindt.

Here's my DD menu from yesterday:
3 oz. shrimp (77) 1 tbsp cocktail sauce (15) 1 chicken sausage (110) 1 bag light popcorn (100) Spinach salad with cucumbers & chicken (57) 1 tbsp light dressing (25) 1 apple (80) Total: 464 I don't know what was going on with me yesterday but I was starving all day. I really didn't think I'd make it through the day but somehow I found the willpower to not eat more food. I was really tempted to just give it up but the scale said I'm down a 1/2 lb. since Friday so that's enough motivation for me to try another DD tomorrow. |

jiggles, have you tried drinking tea when you feel "hungry"?
There are lots of delicious flavors... Green tea with jasmine, black tea with apricot, chamomile-mango herb tea, etc. All zero calories, and many of them full of antioxidants and/or phytonutrients. I even make cold tea from pomegranate teabags. The smell and the taste are both a treat for me, and any hunger I felt quiets right down when I sip my tea. Cynthia |

I have those uber-hungry Down Days sometimes, too. In fact, I'm having one today, and I'm thinking a visit from TOM may be the reason for that. But I always hope that a "hungry day" means a loss is coming, and cling to that hope to help me get through it!
My day so far: B: 2 slices Oroweat light, toasted, with spray margarine and 1 T. sf jam, 90 L: green salad with no dressing, 1 cup vegetable soup 100 S: a bag lite popcorn, 100 D. Tuna salad tub, WW cheese slice, 200 |

kel!Suggestion: Try to keep DD calories below 500 for the first 2 weeks, so you are sure to activate the "survival" gene that Dr J wrote about. That's an important part of how this way of eating works. Thanks for sharing your menus! What's K20? Cynthia |

Yes, another member told me the same thing. I actually thought I was ok till I logged in those carrots. They also suggested I plan my menu ahead of time so that doesn't happen again. As you can see, I took their advice. Thanks Leo! K20 = Kellogg's Special K (k20) protein water mix. You add it to 16-20 oz water. 30 calories, 35 mg sodium, 7 g total carb, 5 g fiber, 0 sugar, 5 g protein. HTH~ |

Wow everyone is doing so great!!!
Jiggles I'm gonna repeat your menu on my Monday DD to see how I do. That is a LOT of food for the calorie content!!! WTG! It also looks like a days worth of protein - something I've been really failing in on my DDs! Can't wait to try it, thanks!!! Congrats on everyone's loss! |

I love the shrimp! I think it'll be a staple for a my DDs. I just buy the frozen medium size ones from Walmart. Since I live in MN I don't know what fresh seafood tastes like so I can't compare them.

Thanks, I will look for some. We live on the Gulf Coast (Houston) but I'm afraid to eat seafood out of the Gulf right now.
So I may look into farmed shrimp. Been eating a lot of chicken and cod on DDs but like that you get 8oz of protein in along with veg on your DDs! |

Jiggles - your dd sounded great. I am gonna look into shrimp as well.
Pooticus - hi fellow Texan! That is my plan too...more protein! Jkat - I decided to skip my protein shake this morning to wait till I was hungry. It's now 12:15, yes I am getting there, but nothing horrible. I will probably eat something in a bit. We rock!!! |

Jodi - what a cool DD! I don't know why, but I always get hungrier once I start eating. So it's easier for me to delay or fast until my meal.
Kel - wow where in Texas? Are you afraid to eat Gulf seafood too? I miss it so much. *sniff*. I'm in Northwest Houston. You can do this. It's now at the start of my 4th week, fairly easy to do a DD anymore. The first and second weeks, I had pretty significant hunger on DDs but nothing that I couldn't work through. Now the hunger is only here or there on DDs. |

Yes you can do this! I went to A&M for a year and actually my whole family is 4 generations of Aggies! LOL. Yep, it's just so sad about the Gulf. I just don't know how this is all gonna shake out!

Exactly Jodi! It's not like when I eat and get hungry...that's more of a gnawing empty-must-be-filled kind of feeling, like "Feed-Me-Seymour!" as opposed to something that is more "background noise".

Wow! This is Aggie-land! Who knew?
I'll have y'all know that I was born in Bryan--approximately two weeks before my dad graduated from A&M in 1957. My parents taught me to sing "Goodbye to Texas university..." before I was 2 years old! (I, however, am an Oklahoma State alum and am greatly looking forward to watching my Pokes kick some Aggie bootay on national TV tomorrow night!) ETA: haha--got so excited thinking about college football that I forgot all about today's DD menu: B: 2 slices Oroweat lite toast, 1/2 T SF jam on each, 90 calories L: green salad with a couple of ounces chopped cooked chicken and a couple of tablespoons chopped mango, 150 D: 2 Heb Nat ff franks, packet apple slices, 1 cup lettuce, 1 slice Oroweat lite toast, 150

Jessica what a small world, right?!!! LOL on the football! I have to admit to being a fairweather football fan. Love it when the Ags are playing well...ignore it when we suck!
My nephew did part of his undergrad at OU before deciding to "come home to" A&M! LOL.Ok so I was supposed to go out for dinner to celebrate my nephew's birthday but he came home from work with a tummy bug. So I ended up cooking here!Wednesday, Sept 29. 2010 DD Menu (472Cals, 23.2gF (44%), 25.1gC (20%), 9.8g Fiber, 42gP (36%) B: Decaff Coffee, black, unsweetened L: Water D: Salad (1.5c Rom, 1c Spin, 1c Spring Mix, .25c Cuc, .125c RBP, 3Tbsp WF Bacon Dressing) (57) 6oz Yellow Squash, .125c Onion, Butter, Cumin, Garlic Powder (69) 3oz Grilled Mexican Chicken (Onion, RBP, Jalapeno, Cilantro, Parsley, Mozz Cheese) (295) S: 1 Square Lindt 85% Cacao |
