Monday DD Here...

Hi Everybody!

Christmas was INSANE. I ate things I haven't eaten in like two years LOL. I fell uber humongous bloated and totally unattractive. Since right after christmas I've just been doing low carb. But today will be DD. Period. End of discussion LOL. Today DD and Wedensday DD and then I leave for my New Year's trip early early early Thursday morning. Should be able to just do Low Carb on my vacation. Really looking forward to having two solid DDs under my belt before I go though!

Running off to plug in my planned DD food into ******.

Today is my first DD after 3 UDs. I truly well and filled my boots on my 3 UDs, so this is a welcome break. I felt awful by the end of the 2nd day, but the mother in law is relentless. Home and hungry now, but it feels so much better.

UD tomorrow, won't go mad with food, but there's plenty of mince pies, cheese and biscuits left, so I'll be making a dent in them. Plus there's a footy match on so I'm off to the boozer for a pint or five. . Another DD and then UD on New Years Eve, which'll be fill my boots again, plus more ale .

I always have a dry month in January so the liver will have a rest, and I'm sure JUDDD will continue to be excellent to me.

Hope you're all doing well at this particularly nutty time of year for us all!

Tim

Hello Fellow Juddder's
Today is a DD for me also period. I had 4 UD in a row and up 8 pds from siggy. I would love to enter 2010 at my siggy weight and not hold onto holiday pounds and with the DD this plan makes all that holiday fun worth-while, I don't feel guilty at all.

to Seoulgrlsara

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and heres to a productive New Year!

My first DD ever. Its 2pm and Ive had an apple and a small salad with vinegar.

Not too bad. I feel kind of gross after holiday eating, so to be honest my body is probably thanking me for this.

Is it normal though to already be thinking what I want to eat tomorrow? But im sure when tomorrow comes I'll not want those things...errrr.. I hope anyways!

o yes hon that is SOOOOO Normal! Sounds like your DD is going well so far... and we JUDDers do frequently live by the mantra "I'll have it tomorrow!" which for me inevitably leads to "future eating" LOL meaning I think I know exactly what I'll be enjoying on the following UD.

Yep. I've already had a good think about what I would like tomorrow. It might change a bit, but I've got my mind focussed on fried egg on toast for breakfast

Been going around the house singing "If we make it through December" (Merle Haggard)-this is my 2nd DD, and haven't eaten anything yet-2pm. Couldn't resist the scale this am, and even after an UD I didn't gain any wt above sig for the holiday. My kids and all are rejoicing that we had a healthier and simpler menu/shopping/celebration-the whole works, didn't even decorate as much, just relaxed. Already planning that next family get together will be even more lowcarb-sent son#2 to get some caulflower to make some faux mash potatoes tonight, leftover gravy will be fine. I'll have a plannedover tomorrow on my UD. Best to all of us!!!

DD for me, too, today, so I'm back on schedule with my MWF DDs.

I'm convinced that JUDDD helps us deal with carbs because on Christmas, I had a slice of chocolate/cherry cheesecake, but the next morning, I wanted to do a DD (and did successfully as I have already posted). I was NOT hungry from that sugar at all. In the past, an indulgence like that would lead to incredible hunger.

I still will eat low carb for health, but it's nice to know that an occasional indulgence won't derail me totally.

Sometimes I top off with a big warm mug of 10 cal chicken broth. And yeah go to bed early! (I'm not above taking a Tylenol Simply Sleep on the night of a DD)

I usually find I sleep earlier on my DDs, which is a good thing as I'm usually a bad night owl. I also have the best sleep ever.

I'm AWF today, so I've had about 8 litres of fluids

Questions:

What does AWF mean?

and I think I saw MD somewhere....or MDD or something like that...what does that mean?

All these acronyms were new to me.

AWF = Almost Water Fast (i.e. almost no calorie fizzy drinks/cordial, tea no milk etc).

I think MD means Moderate Day, so not DD and not UD.

Welcome Seoulgrlsaral.

Hi Michelle and Carmel!

DD here also. AWF and so far so good. Never thought I could do a 14 day shift and an AWF at the same time, but I managed. Can't wait to go to bed and wake up so I can eat.

Glad you had a nice trip Leo.

Kisha glad you're back with us.

Wow, Redeemed, an AWF and a 14-hour shift; that's just amazing.

I'm glad to know that there are others like me who go to bed early on DDs and even take a 'sleep aid' on occasion

I thought about taking a sleeping aid last night, but was afraid I wouldn't wake up at 6 AM so I could eat.

AWF went well. The next time I do an AWF will be at home so I can abstain from coffee also - just distilled water. I think it would be easier to be hungry and tired, rather than hyper and hungry.

My goal for January is to have at least one AWF and three DD's a week -a true alternation. I'm getting serious about this - tired of dinging around.

Back on Track!

Congratulations everyone! sounds like everyone was really ready for that DD, including ME! Had a good, and much needed DD yesterday. I can really tell a difference in my breathing after 5 UD's in a row filled with carbs! It amazes me. Had a good DD yesterday and am planning to have a decent, controlled UD today. Leo, what foods do you eat on a DD when you travel? My DH and I are going up north to visit one of my sons and his family tomorrow and we'll be staying through Saturday. I really need to stick with my DD's, if for nothing else, to get my breathing back so I don't have to take so many meds. Do you pack your own groceries for the DD's, or try to make do with what's in the house? Seoulgrlsara, and good luck (although from your picture, it doesn't look like you need to lose ANY weight at all! ; same goes for Kisha!). And I just want to add that I too, sleep better on a DD than on an UD! Interesting isn't it, the side effects of DD's? And for you Redeemed and re-committing yourself to JUDDD. I can totally relate to "dinging" around!

Am reaching a new sig wt, even if it is just a lb-I am amazed at how little it takes to make me happy.lol. I hope to achieve what you do, Leo, averaging a # a week in the New Year. Going to have to really look at how different foods affect me, even if they are lowcarb. I found a lowcarb bread on this site, but it may slow down my wt loss, just because it has some wheat in it, I am not real sure about this grain sensitivity I may have.
One thing about JUDDD, I think it makes me more aware of how my body reacts to certain foods, instead of just shoveling it down & then dealing with the stuffed feeling, the way I used to do. The DDs allow me to experience freedom from that.

I have been thinking that I should comment about last night. After working the 14 hour shift and doing an AWF, I was very hyper and found it difficult to sleep. I had restless legs and felt wound up. I know that the nerve track runs up and down the spinal column; and have learned that sauna's and hot baths can actually slow down the nervous system and prevent the nerves from racing up and down the spinal column. So, I took a hot bath and actually fell asleep in the bath tub. Then I crashed in my E-Z chair and slept like a baby all night. I personally feel that that hot bath did me far more good than a sleeping pill would have. I'm not giving medical advice; this is just my experience of what works for me.

Good Mornings JUDDDers!!

Redeemed - Congrats on the AWF! It really has been a long time since I did one of those. I am not sure I am quite ready, but maybe in the new year.

Seoulgrlsara!

Grammypat - That is so interesting how JUDDD helps with breathing issues. I am glad you found something that can help.

Kisha - The 2 eggs in butter sounds spectacular!!

I had an okay DD yesterday....ended up at about 575. I did good until the evening and added 2 Hebrew Nationals with put me up a little higher. It was still the best one in a while and I was down 2lbs of water weight this morning. So, it's doing it's thing.

I am incorporating Fast Five, so I will wait till 2pm to eat today. I seem to do alot better when I do that. I am very hungry right now, but I know it will calm down after a few days back on track.

Happy JUDDDing everyone!

Michelle

GrammyPat-
I didn't intend to do a DD at my sister's house (thought it would be impossible), so I didn't bring any food with me. However, when I announced that I planned a DD, my sister said, "Don't eat until dinner, so that you can enjoy a meal with us." Fortunately, I wasn't the least bit hungry (probably why my body was demanding a DD), and I could have had a WF had I not wanted to be 'social' at dinner. She was making a beef tenderloin roast, so I had one, thin slice of beef and about 4 spears of asparagus. She'd already dressed them with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, but I don't think they absorbed much of the oil. I'd estimate I had no more than 300 cal. total and probably less.

I also could have managed with food available in the house if I had wanted to eat during the day. I brought my own tea with me, but she also had plenty of tea, and I drank hot tea all day.

Nitenurse-
I know what you mean about JUDDD making you more aware of food. It was DDs that made me realize how much artificial sweeteners make me hungry, and I haven't missed them at all. But on standard low carb, I didn't even notice. I find that I have to really restrict calories to lose at all, and that's why JUDDD helps me--i.e., I have to control my UDs almost as carefully as my DDs, even though the calories on UDs are higher. I rarely eat 'freely.' Everything has to be planned in advance to insure that I don't go way over my personal calorie limit. But that's because of my compromised metabolism.

aww! Thanks hon! Trust me though I was looking/feeling alot better at 188 rather than the 200 I'm weighing in at right now. I DO think thats part of my problem with motivation lately. Because of my hourglass figure and how I carry my weight (small waist flat stomach) I am really looking OK lately. Not that OK is good enough but its NOT FAT and it helps me rationalize my slip ups.

Dude I hear you! Starting next year I'm going back to truth in sig weight status. I remember how awesome it was shaving that sig number down one pound by one pound. so fun!

LEO in 2009

Leo, You in 2009 is my inspiration and my goal for 2010! You've proved to me that when properly medicated and diligent with JUDD it is possible to lose 1LB per week.

Now while others on this board might scoff at this number lots of us Low Carb Vets know it is nothing to sneeze at!

I am planning on following your example (diligence diligence diligence) to reach goal in 2010.

Thank you for the inspiration my friend!

You're sweet, Kisha, but it was your constant companionship on this board during the past year that enabled me to persevere. Were it not for the companions on the board, I don't think I could have been successful.

To me, food is an addiction, and LCF is my AA--seriously. I think that support from others is essential to our success.

Here's to a great 2010 for all of us

I've been on it for over a year. But I don't care to share my results! The end of this year has been... well... lets just call the last three months OFF PROGRAM!

Seoulgrlsara Where are those 223 pounds? You look thin as a rail in your avi. I started JUDDD last year, I think in February. I did loose three pounds, but it took three weeks. I lost more after that - around 12 pounds, I believe. I then tried other plans. I came back to JUDDD in November and lost a whopping 11 pounds in two weeks. I must add that I also went off a particular hormone at that time, and most of the weight was bloat. I have since been working with different thyroid medicines to see what works the best. So, my weight has been fluctuating. I plan on weighing Saturday to see where I am at.
