Whitlin', my problem is that the alarm would need to be on the fridge door and pantry door, not the scale. When I fall off the wagon and start gaining, I never step near my scale!
Have a great day everybody!
dd for me.

Snaggle: I have a bad habit of not weighing when I know I'm eating too much. But, that's the time when I really need to weigh. It's such a good wake up call when I weigh. EmandM said a few posts back that she did best when weighing every two weeks. That would work for me if I knew I was staying on plan. But, I think I'm going to weigh every Sat. from now on so that will be my alarm clock.

Personally, I've been an emotional eater, and I think I also ate "for entertainment," but JUDDD has changed all that. I feel in control of food for the first time in my life, and it's no longer the center of my life. No other 'diet' has done that for me.

For example, I had lunch today (UD) with a friend that I haven't seen for a long time, and I knew I could have anything on the menu. Yet, I avoided all grains and had a simple protein-based meal that was absolutely delicious and didn't feel the least deprived.

I just love JUDDD.
That...all of that.

I went out to eat lunch with Mom today at a place that was once a favorite, but I hadn't been there in 20 years or so. Seafood place, fish-camp, whatever. Going there to me in the past usually meant a combo of fried seafood, a baked potato, sweet coleslaw, lots of hush-puppies and lots of sweet tea. Lots of everything really. Easily a 300 calorie meal.

Today I had broiled flounder and steamed mixed veggies. 300-400 cals...the worst thing in all of it was a few slices of carrots.

And I was full. It's after midnight and I am still not full.

We have an enormous Boston Butt in the crock pot for tomorrow. I slathered it in olive oil and Montreal Steak seasoning....oh my, does it smell good. Tomorrow will not be a 300 cal day.

Astounding and awesome!

I also like your attitude about the weight number. I have the same issue with trying
to avoid setting goal dates and for the same reason...................my body rarely cooperates!
I am holding my own. Had 3 updays in a row and today feels good to be finally doing a down.

I am always surprised at what a relief a DD is after a string of MDs or UDs.

I am only going to be able to get in two more dd's before we leave next weekend for Mexico. I will probably be at the same 146-147 weight, but that is okay. I really plan to get stricter after new years.

Great plan...and being strict will be easier after your vacation and the holidays.

I find it easier, usually, to stick to plan in January because everybody is on a diet. My main goal will be to get onto a true alternation and not the lame 4 up days every week I have been doing.

As far as the sweet discussion, I now realize that I really do have a problem with them. For years, I felt they were not my issue and that I had more of a problem with savory snacky things like chips, cheese, etc, but the truth is that I love BOTH and have just as big of a portion problem with sweets as I do with chips. I am totally satisfied with a normal serving of meat or eggs, but when it comes to bad carbs, it is like the satiety mechanism is broken.

This is so true for me....

A friend of mine who had WLS (and is a nurse) says that they told her to always eat protein first because you naturally can exert portion control over protein/fat, but not with carbs. I don't have the itty bitty WLS stomach she has, but I now try to eat like she does.
So much in this post to agree with, I had to chime in.

Welcome back, some of us are doing lowcarb and JUDDD combined, anyway that works. There will be a new Jan thread soon. a lot of us fell off the wagon and got back on, so this WOE eating is so forgiving.
