Cassandra-- I don't get true nausea much, and never anything different on this plan than anything else I have done. I do often feel slightly queasy in the morning before I eat, and if I ever take my vitamins without food, I get it.
I assume you have ruled out.........................................pregna ncy. Just mentioning it. |

Hey Cassandra,
I've been doing this since June, and I don't get nauseated from JUDDDD. I do, however, get it from post-nasal drip OR from ketosis. (It's one of the reasons I HATE being in ketosis.) |

Hi folks,
I'm JUDDDing along, mostly happily. I was hoping for a loss Saturday (official weigh-in day) since I hit my previous all-time low last Saturday, but nothing. Grrrr. I am in the midst of TOM so I'm blaming that for now. I had an UD Saturday and a MD yesterday and I'm just .5 up from my low this morning, so hopefully I'll have better news next Saturday. DD for me today. I'm having some lite Porgresso soup over a little canned chicken for lunch and getting some dental work done this afternoon. I'm not sure what I'll feel like for dinner. Maybe a shake. I haven't had nausea either. Good luck getting that figured out.

Sometimes I feel a tad nauseous in the mornings after my 1st meal of an UD. But not constantly, and it usually goes away by lunchtime.

Hey all,
Today I'm attempting my first DD in about a month. I'm at 80 calories so far. I'm waiting till tomorrow to get my start weight. I have also been doing some reading and considering trying the hcg diet/simeons protocol. We'll see... Cassandra: I have not had any problems with nausea on this diet. |

Hoping 3rd time's the charm!
Hi all...
I have attempted JUDD two previous times (most recently in July) and have not been able to put two successful weeks together. I really seem to have a hard time with keeping my DD at 500 calories and realize (according to the book) that I need two weeks of these to have the full benefit of the program. I have continued to read every single post every day, even when not on program, as I truly believe this WOE is the answer for me. I truly admire the tenacity of those who struggle with stalls and manage to stay true to it all. I am 63 (in Nov) and have severe osteoarthritis in my knees and looking at a total knee replacement probably after the holidays. I really want to get some of this weight off before then and am in hopes that maybe this WOE and the weight loss combined will give me some relief of my symptoms. I have started a DD once again today and doing well so far (260 calories) with dinner and a snack bringing me just to 500. My plan is to do two weeks of MWF rotation of DD at 500 calories and then allow myself to increase the DD calorie limit a bit if need be to help keep me going. This WOE is just so flexible and fits in with a busy social life and finding myself frequently eating out. This board is so supportive and encouraging and even though I've only really been "lurking" for months, I feel like I know you all.

Sherrie -- Even if you don't do JUDDDD, read up on intermittent fasting. Someone (and I'm sorry, but I don't remember who -- Cassandra, maybe?) posted a link to a blog the other day. The guy does 24 hour water fasts, 6PM to 6PM (so he eats every day) and had MAJOR improvement in his rheumatoid arthritis. 24/24 Eating and Fasting: The Journey Begins (A Week Later)
MWF is a great way to start. It's what I did my first 6 weeks. Once I recommitted after my move, I've done strict alternate (with the exception of one 2 UD rotation). This weekend, I think I will have F and SA as UD. I'm a little nervous about that.... But anyway, I digress ![]() Glad you stopped lurking. Now start posting - even if you don't JUDDDD, we'll support whatever you choose that works FOR YOU.

Sherrie-
Good to see you back! One thing I did when I started might work for you. My calculator DD# is 435 cal, but I knew that I just needed to stay under 500 for the first two weeks. So I planned my DDs for 400 cal, figuring that if it got too tough, I'd have another 100 that I could add near the end of the day. What happened is that I stayed at 400 all the time. Knowing I could have more was the 'safety valve' that helped me psychologically, but I never had to use it. If I had planned on 500, I think I would have became too anxious about my hunger, but that's just me perhaps--I tend to be very neurotic Trish- I looked into the HCG stuff really seriously and decided against it. I don't like the idea of taking something when I'm not sure exactly what it is, and from what I read, the current treatments aren't the same as the original protocol from the 50s. Besides that, any plan that has you eating just 500 cal a day should produce significant loss. The fact that Kevin Trudeau is the person who "revived" this plan was the final thing that warned me against it. However, I notice that there are a lot of people here doing it, so perhaps it's OK. |

Hi everyone
![]() I'm officially starting today. I'm done for the day and I'm at 504 calories. I've been low carbing since June07. I lost 72 pounds but then had some medical issues and gained 25 back . I've since lost 15 very, very slooooowly. I want to lose 40 more. I'm hoping this will shake things up a bit. Looking forward to getting to know all of you. Checking back in, have been doing the 6 week cure, wanted to jar my body into something new. But can hardly wait to get through it and back to JUDDD, which is much easier for me, and will get me through the winter/holidays. I am losing some inches, trying to figure out how maybe I can do some alternate day stuff combined with the meat 2 weeks.

Shoot... I totally bombed my first DD. My husband brought home pizza and I was ravenously hungry.
I can tell it's going to be difficult to get back into the swing of things. |

Hey peeps -
Just stopping in to say hey and welcome and good luck to all! I am pretty psyched - this weekend turned into 3 UDs (I should really give up the idea that I can go away or go to family functions or parties and keep my day a DD) which was irritating to me BUT I am only up .6 lbs. over my last, super DD, so I am definitely still on track! WOO HOO! This WOE is slow, steady, and forgiving for me. A |

Oh - I wanted to say this, too, for the people who are struggling.
1. I found it much easier to stick to DDs after about 3 weeks. The first couple of weeks were hard. I muscled through. It's much easier now, although there have been some days during which I was really hungry. I guess it's because I'm used to it now and also I am secure in the knowledge that I can always eat more/whatever/etc. tomorrow. I think it also helps that I eat fairly unrestricted UDs. I don't pig out, but I don't restrict myself to LC/not. 2. I LOVE the way I feel the night of a DD! I am so proud of myself and also excited to eat the next day! It is almost a euphoric feeling. This also happened after about week 3 or so. HTH. A

Blah.
Weighed in. Gained 0.6. Dammit.
Recommitting. Less junk. More exercise. Fewer back-to-back UDs unless absolutely necessary. Yesterday's DD was 270 calories. I'm off to workout now. Good luck all. |

Today is my DD #4 of induction. I do struggle with some very unpleasant, gnawing hunger on my down days. I really don't want to eat and almost resent having to go find food when I start to experience that feeling.
I lost six pounds in my first seven days of JUDDD. I'm still feeling nauseous, headachy, and having trouble sleeping. (Those sound like deep ketosis symptoms to me.) I'm trying to decide if my inflammation is getting better. I don't want to make any judgments yet, since I have been ailing in general. I don't creak and pop as much when I move. LOL And my wedding ring slides on and off much more easily. I think I'm going to take a nap. |

Hey everybody!
Where's Kisha? It's nice to see all the new "faces"...I don't want to try to mention everyone because I am know I would forget someone. I am kinda net-socially inept. Cassandra...on a DD, if I am feeling hungry to the point that it is aggravating me or distracting me, I do eat something. I'll have a cup of chicken broth, sipping slowly to make it last as long as possible, as well as some celery, which is both crunchy and chewy, in its own way. It gives me the feeling of having had a meal, even if it's a small meal. I am on a "medium week" right now (a little disappointed in myself that I didn't think I could manage DDs while traveling / vacationing). I've been fairly good, low carb without fail, getting lots of protein, keeping calories under control (no days over 2500 cals). My average daily cals has barely increased. I did eat one breaded onion ring at Cheddar's one day. It's the worst thing I have eaten since my diabetes diagnosis in July. My ketosis wasn't phased, I didn't get any cravings. Side note about ketosis: when I was doing Atkins in 1999-2000 or so, after a few weeks, I could eat a quart of strawberries, a big order of Ruby Tuesday mozzarella sticks, and other "borderline / bad" foods / quantities, without phasing my ketosis and without getting any cravings. This spring, the *tiniest* little thing would totally kill my ketosis *and* cause horrible cravings. Even vegetables like green beans and broccoli. Coconut milk was knocking me out of ketosis, and it took me the longest time to figure it out, because the one I was using was VLC, and I was using it sparingly. I am not ready to "push" my limits now (and, fortunately I don't really want to) with something like poppers, cheese sticks, or even a lot of berries...but I have a feeling I am back to a body chemistry more like I had a decade ago. It's sorta sad that it took such a big (and bad) event to kick my ass into action, but honestly, I have had almost no desire to eat "bad" foods since my diabetes diagnosis. Knowing myself, I did not expect that knowledge to have the ability to modify not only my behavior but my food "wants" to such an extent. I mean, I sort of always expected that diabetes was inevitable in my future, with my family history--I was never as afraid of it as I should have been. I'm tempted to start a thread about this in the main lobby, but I am not that brave. I know, intellectually, that I am shrinking. Clothes that were too small now fit or are too big. The doctor's scales say I have lost 80+ pounds, about 20% of my total weight. When I look at myself in the mirror, I can see no difference. There are huge mirrors in my hotel room--I can't avoid them. And when I catch a glimpse, or even actually force myself to look and try to see if/that I am smaller--nothing. No difference. All I see is Jabba the Hutt. It's very depressing--both because I can't see a change, and also because I know I have this psychological issue, along with all my other issues regarding my weight/size (and my other psychological issues with depression, anxiety). Sigh. I know, TMI. Anyway, one of my very good friends is celebrating a birthday today--we're going out to lunch. Low-carb and reasonable portions for me. I will not give up. And, I will not eat cake. Thanks everyone, for sharing your progress, your disappointments, and your success here. It's really a wonderful little oasis to visit at least once a day. --bill

You've lost 80# Bill, you deserve a crown! Body image is strange, even with the weight I have lost since I topped out 60 lbs ago, I don't "see" different. I guess I need to focus on the way the clothes fit.

Trish-
If a doctor had recommended HCG to me, I'd probably think more positively about it. If it works for you, I might give it a whirl because you know how I struggle to lose. And I'd never be able to hold to a DD if someone brought home a pizza! I started a month experiment with "primal" eating yesterday. Basically, it's just meat, fish, eggs, and veggies with fat, of course. I've eliminated all grains and dairy. I'm doing this mainly for health reasons, but I hope that doing JUDDD with just these basic foods will give me some loss, too. I was getting careless with carbs lately, and I think this will give me a renewed focus. Sue- I hope this works as well for you as it has for many of us.Sherrie- I always go to bed early on DDs! If it's any comfort, someone posted here that when you're very hungry, it's your body warning you that it's going to tap into your fat stores if you don't eat. I've actually found that to be true. When I have DDs where I'm really hungry most of the day, I find that I have good losses that week. That's my comfort when I'm hungry enough to start chomping on the kitchen counter ![]() Bill- I have the same problem; I've lost about 120 lbs from my highest weight, but I don't 'see' a difference. However, I notice the difference in my clothes. Also, do you have any old photos? I don't because I try to avoid being photographed, but my sister tells me that she has some from before I began losing that are really dramatic, and she's saving them for me. If you have any old photos, they may convince you that you do look very different now. |

Regarding the hCG Diet... yes, the doctor said that he could administer the shots. He said he wasn't "really a diet doctor" and didn't want me to feel pressured to try it at all. But he said he had begun to do a bunch of research into it, felt very convinced that it was a good plan and had a few patients who had tried it with great results. The only problem with having the doctor administer the shots is that it would cost about $600 as opposed to $80 for the homeopathic spray which it seems that people are having just as good of results with!
Regarding my husband bringing home a pizza... He really truly thought he was being helpful. I was running late with getting dinner going because I had been trying to juggle my 1 year old with unpacking boxes. He ran a quick errand and came back with a pizza. He had forgotten I was going to start back to JUDDD today or he would have never done that. He's usually quite thoughtful and very supportive. I am thinking I might just put JUDDD on the back burner for now. My hCG drops should be here in a couple of days and I am thinking of just starting on those when they get here. I want to keep JUDDD in my bag of tricks though... if the hCG thing doesn't work out well, or if I ever happen to get to my goal weight I think it could be an AWESOME plan for maintenance. Though, part of the reason I don't want to give it up is all of the wonderfully nice and supportive people here! |

Trish-
Even when you're doing hcg, please check in here with us. As I mentioned, I'd really like to hear how you're doing, and we can be encouraging even if it isn't JUDDD. I agree with you about the cost! If you find that hcg really suppresses your appetite as they claim, I might want to start that because otherwise, I can't imagine doing consecutive 500 cal days. There's no way I could do two DDs in a row with JUDDD--I'm always so grateful for the UD that follows. In any case, good luck with this. I know how frustrated you've been, and, as Kisha says, it's really impossible to do JUDDD without seeing a loss, regardless how small. It's just too difficult. |

I had an excellent Up Day today.
I worked out and then cleaned my car (hardcore exercise right there!). I ate sensibly, having very little sugar (my biggest Up Day weekness). This week's schedule will accomodate "true" alternation and will give me 4 DDs before next weigh in. I feel good. |
