Weekly Weigh In

No loss/no gain--same as last week [sigh!].

I seem to have had a typical 4 lb loss for the month, but it's difficult to tell because I bounced around a little at the beginning of the month.

However, this past week, although I kept each DD, my UDs were a trifle higher than usual--perhaps 1800 cal as opposed to 1200-1400 that I usually eat. I ate a little more because I was hungry and felt that perhaps since it was an UD, I should be satisfied. That was probably a mistake because the increased calories put me over a 1000 cal daily average, and I know that I don't lose at anything over 1000 cal a day.

Before I can go back to my usual, I have to travel to Disney (Fla) this week for a 3-day meeting. Usually I just try to have successive MDs when I'm away, but this time I plan to try something different, as follows:

Thursday-I leave and will be traveling, but there's a big dinner scheduled for the evening. This is usually an UD for me, so I'll do that but try to keep my total calories at 1400 max.

Fri & Sat- We have half-day meetings scheduled that include a catered breakfast and lunch. I plan to keep low carb and then skip dinner both nights(a form of interrmitant fasting).

Sunday-traveling back home. I should be able to do this as a DD--or MD.

Since I won't be weighing on Sat., I'll weigh Monday morning to see if I was able to lose while away. I'm hoping that the change in eating schedule and food will help--IF I can keep to this plan.

Crazy busy week and JUDDing has suffered because of it. I'm not weighing in today cause I know the scale would send me into fits of depression (and probably eating). Out to eat tonight and tomorrow both and think I'll just restart Monday with a DD.

Gina....will miss you. Please keep us posted how you're doing. I feel your frustration with still having "food issues".

Bill...glad you're able to get away from it all for a few days with friends. Sounds like a little "mental health holiday" is needed with all your stress at home.

Leo...I want to be just like you "when I grow up". You always have a plan and more amazing to me...you stick to it!! I haven't given up yet, but boy have I been off plan this week.

Kisha...pirate outfit sounds great....I want to see pictures too.

Halloween tonight...I bought my candy about two days too early and that has been part of my problem this week. Will be glad when it's gone tonight. If there's any left, will just put it on the bench on the front porch before I go to bed and am sure it will be gone by morning.

I used very little oil and supplemented with chicken broth. Rice is the thing I miss most, and I was amazed how how close this is to the real thing!
The most difficult part for me was grating the caulflower, since I don't have a food processor, but it wasn't that hard. I don't usually make 'recipes' because I have no portion control at all, but this is worth it. As soon as I finished, I portioned it into separate containers to help control me.

Right now, I have some lamb stew meat in my slow cooker, and I plan on having that over my 'rice' this weekend. My rice is mixed with green onions and mushrooms.
Sounds delish!

It is very hard to do low carb and low cal. Veggies are about the only thing that fit the bill without being creative. Good idea about WW recipes.
Here's my mods for recipe:

DD for me here today... should be pretty easy. After work I'm going to my sister's house to get ready for Halloween party tonight. I have a truly epic Pirate costume including a real sword and super expensive replica flintlock pistol... My sister is a makeup artist and she'll be doing my makeup and I'm really looking forwrad to it! Then a party tonight so I'll be busy which always improved the quality of my DDs

Finally, um where's Bill?
I wanna see too! You'll be gorgeous, I bet!!!

I seem to be someone who can have one main focus at a time. The other stuff doesn't slide really, but it does need to go on autopilot. I can LC, even induction, on autopilot. I can't seem to do JUDDD without a lot of focus.
Kisha, that costume sounds cool. I am currently a not-too-scary witch. The orange and black striped tights are fun.
Sounds like a good plan! That would be my way to go, if and when I take a break from JUDDDD. It's not totally about losing weight, I just feel better.

What I am getting to, is now I am stuck now, and not losing scale weight, this will be at least 3-4 weeks or more with no progress-but I feel like I am losing fat, regardless. Some of you that have been doing this for a long time, like Leo, what is the longest you've been stuck without any loss?
I figure, even if I just kept the 20# loss, and stayed stuck til January, that would still be pretty good for 6 months time-sure hope it doesn't take that long.
I know I shouldn't be so impatient, but I always want to see some progress. Started keeping a log of everything I eat to see if I can see any mistakes there on my up days.
You're doing wonderful, despite life's ups & downs.

Sounds like you have your plan under control! OOOH! Disney! I guess it's for business, not pleasure?

Had a good upday-I guess I need to be accountable and write everything down-I only ate one meal, because I wasn't hungry, and the day came in at 1000 calories-I don't think this was what I would always aim for, I was just busy.
Lesson for me, Just because it's an up day, I don't need to eat until I'm really hungry, yesterday it was about 3 pm.
Today is a DD, and I'm still not hungry, had a cup of coffee with HWC, and will eat later. I know what I'm going to eat.
I think what I was doing before, was overeating on the up days so I wouldn't be so hungry on the DDs., maybe it's just the opposite.
I've had my appetite/hunger signals so smothered with overeating for so many decades I am trying tune in to them.

NN,

This is the best revelation I have gotten from JUDDD. This plan (and finally giving up my stubborn resistance to tracking my food--thanks, Kisha) has put me in touch with the realities of what is really hunger and what was just my own bad habits / patterns. I am not sure this happens for everyone (we are all so different), but JUDDD has given me the kind of appetite suppression (awareness?) that I think some other people experience with simple ketosis. Then again, I think very few people have as ****ed-up relationship with food that I have (or had? ).

I must say, too, that having such an amazing, intelligent, thoughtful and kind group of friends, scattered all over the country (world?) who come to this spot to help each other, is also one of the best gifts I have ever received from the universe.

Dasiey-

No, you don't need to fast if all your doctor is checking are the thyroid hormones. My endo always does a cholesterol check at the same time, and you need to fast for that.

By the way, you should ALSO be getting T3 checked at the same time. If your doctor isn't doing this, he/she doesn't understand thyroid issues. The T3 is what controls weight. Many doctors don't check it because the body converts T4 to T3 automatically--hence checking only T4. But if you have an impaired thyroid (hypothyroid), your conversion can be slowed so much that you become deficient in T3.

Nitenurse-

My experience has been that if I overeat on UDs, it makes the following DD that much more difficulty--and I always eat low carb, so it's not the carbs.

Although JUDDD is helping me understand my own food issues, I'm beginning to think that I can't trust hunger signals because I've been very hungry on recent UDs, even though I know I've had enough food. That's why I think I didn't lose last week. Since the body doesn't like to lose, I think it's trying to gain by causing hunger. At least that's my theory, and I plan strict allegiance to calorie counting to insure that I don't overeat. The lbs come off much to slowly to allow any back
