I'm old and married myself, but my kids live with their dad in another town. My big night out is taking my youngest set of twins out to eat for their birthday Sunday night. hehe

oh yeah, and then (whether admitted or not) one must usually have a little 'work' done.

I remember reading that a certain celebrity ate about 600 calories a day AND exercised 45 min of running plus 1 hour of yoga plus 45 min weights every single day..... and still had a little nip and tuck to sculpt and shape - BTW, this wasn't a gossip rag, this was the celeb saying, "Look, you won't look like me, because this is what it takes, and you don't have the money or time". The celeb literally spent thousands of dollars a week on personal training, personal chefs, and beauty treatments, and literally spent 6 hours a day in grooming/exercising etc.

This is not the life I want.

You guys agree?????
I agree...It's not the life for me. no way.

I really can not imagine 12 kids. I wouldn't have even had 4 if I hadn't had them 2 at a time.

G'day all, I've been offline for a week while I changed ISP's and it took sooo long to catch up on all the news.

Hello new friends xxx
Congrats to all of the super juddders doing an outstanding job

After my big mid-week freakout at McDonalds I still managed to lose 3 pounds! So I'm really happy.
I'm bracing for this week though, because its my TOM and I'm having a double ud weekend so I can switch my rotation for next week. So far so good, I haven't drowned myself in chocolate sauce yet

Sounds like a good idea though

Donia, two sets of twins - wow. I always wanted twins then I had my son and decided my quiver was good and full with just the one!

Oh, Bill, I didn't think you were putting Kisha down. The problem with writing like this is a loss of 'tone.' I can tell that you value Kisha's advice as much as I do.

And to clarify about my sister (who's not on the boards and won't know anyway:-), she's doing JUDDD not to "binge/gorge." Like me, she's post-menopausal and hypothyroid, so she can't lose unless she seriously restricts calories. Doing that on a daily basis gets frustrating quickly, but JUDDD allows her to actually have a life by being able to eat 'normally' on her UDs.

Actually, we all probably envy your male metabolism, so just ignore any comments that sound snarky

Hey Bill! Welcome on board! I think, if you have the natural hunger suppressant from ketosis going on, that you have nothing to lose in trying JUDDDD. Just be sure to give it 2-3 GOOD SOLID weeks before you make any decisions about whether to stick. (Assuming your blood sugar levels don't go berserk, of course.)

I'm rather appalled at how many of y'all have had such bad experiences with doctors. Especially you, Homestretch! Of course, I usually just refuse to go (I think it's been since 2003 since I had a routine check up; this week, I went for a specific issue and the nurse practioner "made" me take a Claritin, which, as it turns out, I'm allergic to, so that was a fun afternoon.)

Interesting conversation on body image: I'm dating a man, and mentioned to him that I want to lose about 40 lbs. (He could stand to lose a lot more than that, but it's his business, not mine.) He started in on how women always have such negative views of their bodies, and there's no way I need to lose that much, etc. My view: I think 90% of people, in general, have inaccurate views of their bodies. More men may have inaccurate views in the opposite way from women (i.e., they think "I have a GREAT body" -- even when they may not), which is another media thing [take a look a the number of TV shows with a crude, overweight, rude man and a hot, thin wife who puts up with his garbage. You'd be amazed. -- And yes, I was a communications major, so we looked at this many years ago, and it's gotten worse, in my oh so humble opinion ]. I chose my goal using a solid metric: BMI of 22.5, smack dab in the middle of the healthy range. I KNOW how distorted reality is when I look in the mirror, so metrics make sense to me.

My eating today (UD) has been BAD -- 2 croissants (one ham and cheese, one chocolate and almond). But I think I have that bakery out of my system, now. Yesterday was a REALLY difficult DD, even with no loss. So difficult that I woke up at 1:15 am thinking about eating, and whether 1:15 could be considered UD yet. And, damn it, no loss! Ugh. Soon, I hope.

I bought a bike this week, so I've been on a few rides around town, including one to the bike shop to get baskets put on. I walked home from the shop (about a mile) and then walked back when it was ready. It's so not fair that it's so much more work to burn calories than to ingest them But riding in this city is beautiful and I think I'm going to enjoy it.

Happy Labor Day Weekend, y'all!

Checking in after my first "real" DD...made it through with 432 cals. I didn't eat the same things I had planned, but wound up getting half those cals from cheese (always a good hunger killer for me). I think tuna will be my friend on DDs.

Here's what I ate:
--4 grams coconut oil
--6 cups chicken broth
--1.5 oz american cheese
--6oz raw cabbage (didn't have celery on hand)
--1 Carb Control smoothie
--2.6 oz tuna

Today is UD...I hope I don't get too out of control.

--Bill

Great DD, Bill! Personally, I used to try to avoid fat on my DDs to save calories, but I've discovered that fat keeps me full longer--e.g., the combination of fat and protein in cheese is good, as you discovered.

Now that you've done one DD, keep in mind that you can do this. That's what I remind myself of when some DDs are tougher than others--i.e., I've done it before, and I can do it again.

Thanks Leo!

I finished my up day with 1722 cals, 68% fat, 30% protein. I had thought I would be voraciously hungry, and had expected to eat much more. But I ate really filling things and stayed conscious of when I was full (a challenge for me...I have issues with eating past the full point).

Tomorrow is another DD. Instead of planning too much ahead, I just made sure that I have appropriate portions of egg, tuna, cheese, celery, etc...so I can have some latitude in my choices through the day.

I'll report tomorrow. Wish me luck!

--Bill

weigh in

I weighed in this morning. I only lost 0.4 lb. this week. I'm disappointed, but not surprised. I had two UDs in a row on Thursday and Friday, Saturday's DD could've been better, and I only exercised once this week (thanks to my plantar fasciitis). I'm kicking it in high gear this week as I'm hoping to make it to Onederland next weigh in!

Mistydisa, plantar fasciitis is a horrible thing - I have had it twice, both times it lasted for several months; you have my undying sympathy!

I'm on a DD today. Went to bed last night feeling peckish and considered having a snack before bed but decided against it. Well, did I regret it this morning - woke up really hungry, which has not happened to me on a DD or indeed an UD till today.

Knocked it on the head with a 50 cal hot chocolate and now it's 1pm and I haven't had anything else other than water. My previous two DDs have both ended up at 560 cals and I had 2 UDs in a row Thursday Friday so I want to make a real effort to pull it back in today. I'm going to a friend's 50th birthday party in four weeks and if I can lose a bit before then I know I'll feel much more confident.

Have a good day all x

Karen ~ What did you do to heal your plantar fasciitis? I bought new sneakers yesterday as well as some orthotics especially for plantar fasciitis. I've been wearing my shoes at all times (which sucks for me as I'm a barefoot kinda gal!). I've also been icing my feet and doing stretches. Any other recommendations?

Just want to check in-had about 4 medium or up days?????and more to come, my son in getting married here in twelve days, lots of wedding planning and company coming, so the best I can do is lowcarb and hope for the best, so far am still in ketosis.
THis was my first DD in 5 days, and it is feeling really good, isn't that crazy.
One of my days last week I got really compulsive, like would have eaten the wallpaper if it had catsup on it...that is the first time, I think, since I started JUDDDD in June, and next day got right back on lowcarb...it felt really strange, to be able to recognize and deal with that...and to know I have tools for handling it.
The bride is from Mexico, just dealt with Homeland Security for 6 months getting her here, and now none of her family can be here, I feel so bad for her, and them. Anyway, entire process will be son and myself, I may be a little crazy and not checking in real often, but I will have my eating under control. Enjoy everyone's posts-I learn so much from all of you.

Hey everyone,

Made it through DD with 503 cals and 8 carbs (almost all of which were celery).

Going to bed early before I lose my resolve.

Thanks for the support and well-wishes!

Weekly Weigh In

No loss/no gain--exactly the same as last week [ugh]. But I should not complain because last week's loss of 3 lbs was more than usual for no apparent reason. My body is determined to let me know that it will be in charge of the numbers.

I'm trying something new this week just to change things up. I have a lot of shake mix to use up, since I've been eating only whole foods. So I decided to try just one meal (breakfast) and the rest of the day only shakes. I usually don't find shakes very satisfying, so this will be a challenge, although yesterday's DD wasn't too bad at 350 cal., 300 of which was in the form of shakes. I'm only planning to do this for a week to, as I mentioned, change things up a little.

Happy Tuesday JUDDD'ers!

I'm back from my long weekend away and my long weekend off plan. I had 4 UD's in a row and I feel ready to have a DD! I have company until tonight and am hoping I don't lose my resolve to stick to a DD today. I'm going to wait until I have at least 2 DD's under my belt before I step on the scale. I think I'd be too discouraged if I did now. I KNOW I'm retaining lots of water. My fingers look like sausages and I had to remove my rings because they were so tight!

I haven't had a chance to catch up with the posts yet. I'll have to get to that tonight or tomorrow after my company leaves!

I hope everyone has a great day today :-)

I come from a family of 9. It was 24/7 activity in my house growing up. I have 3 children and I do not know how my parents did it.

Good luck Leo! I used to use shakes quite a bit. They can really help with controlling calories. It may be just what your body needs!
