Hi
Just got home,I was out for most of the day,and wasn't able to post. Today was my W-I day and I lost only 1-lb this week, not the 3 that I thought I'd lose, some how they disappeared. But I take it. Today was my DD day and I was afraid of gorging on my food being not able eating any thing, but I surprised myself by controlling my eating and having just a salad with 1 slice of turkey. That one thing that the JUDDD has thought me to do is controlling my bad eating habits. Have nice evening, going to have my lite supper

As far as starting on DD or UD that depends how many calories you've had today I think. Usually we start JUDD on a DD but if your cals have already been low today you have the option of starting with an UD also. BTW many of us do incorporate some form of IF on DDs... but not usually UD. The problem with doing the FF on DDs is that it is 1000 cals and our DDs must start out limited less than 500 cals. The foods taht give us the 90% fat recommended by the FF are super high calorie. How was the FF for me? Um it sucked. I hated it. ugh. Last edited by Ilpirata; 08-03-2009 at 02:58 PM.. |

Today was my most successful DD so far--mainly because I managed to keep it a DD although I had to "eat out" with friends at lunch.
I gave a presentation at the school where I used to teach, and I knew that my former colleagues planned to have lunch afterwards. I also knew that the cafeteria has a terrific salad bar (in addition to all kinds of high calorie stuff that I deliberately ignored). I made mine with a pile of baby spinach leaves and another pile of sliced, raw mushrooms, a couple of artichoke hearts, a few olives, a hardboiled egg, and a couple of chicken strips (nor more than 2 oz). Over it, I just sprinkled some vinegar. So even though I had a pouch of wild salmon for breakfast (90 cal), I came in at about 450 for the day. I've avoided salad on my DDs because I try to focus on protein, but I may supplement my protein with a big salad as I did today because since I've been home from 2 pm (it's now 6:30), I haven't been the least hungry. It's nice to be able to go out and still manage a DD. |

I've had a bowl of SF jelly. I'm craving something, but I dont know what... Grr.
My stomach also feels hollow, but I'm not even sure if that is hunger. I know hunger because my stomach grumbles and churns. This just feels hollow. Also, Leo, your DD meals sound really resourceful. Am wondering, though, if you also eat low carb on your UD? |

Hi Jonah's Grandma-remember you from somewhere on some other site!
Had a tough (Wedding guest) weekend, but back on track today, trying to figure out how to space the 500 cals throughout the down day, so far so good. |

WELCOME jonah's grandma!
Congrats on the loss Maryann! I did well on just coffee & hb eggs today. I was VERY busy, which i'm sure had something to do with it. Today should have been a weigh-in, but it will have to be tomorrow. I'm doubting i'll see a loss due to recent splurging, but we'll see! Happy JUDDDing til' later! |

Hello Uber-Hot JUDDDDers!
I've been lurking for about a week now and I've finally gotten the nerve up to join you all. I've had a couple of rough days over the last week and can't seem to get back into ketosis. Hopefully JUDDD and LC together will help me get on track. I love that you guys are so supportive of one another and I'm excited to join the group. Tomorrow is my first DD so I'll keep everyone posted on how things go. I'm not going to weigh myself until next Monday because I have a feeling that my weight isn't matching my siggy and goodness knows I don't need to be discouraged before and day when I'm planning on eating 500 calories!! LOL!! Do most of you track how many calories you're eating on Up days? Is there a range that you would recommend that I stay in? I definitely don't want to slow down my metabolism but obviously don't want to cancel out the hard work of a DD. Also - do you guys track whether or not you're in ketosis? I imagine it would help the hunger factor on DDays. Thanks in advance :-)

Hi fellow juddders!
Long time - no se! Sorry I haven't been around last month. I stayed on juddd though- but I hit a plateau and am now at 136 lbs, same as last month. This is my second month of juddd. Did any of you experience the same? And how long did it last? |

hot mama!I'm new too! This is my second day of JUDDing on Very Low Carb, and I'm pretty optimistic. I'm not hungry anymore...if anything I think I've OD'd on protein during my feeding window and its made me nausetious. I also made my BF dinner, a really rich creamy garlic pasta bake. Usually I would be salivating at the thought of it, but just cooking it has left me feeling repulsed. Does any else get this when they've had too much protein? |

Monday was DD#25. Today I weigh in at 138, same as Saturday, and one pound into VFT. That tells me this is true fat loss, not just a temporary dip.
Next weigh-in will be Thursday morning, July 9, which will be the two-month mark on the calendar since I began on June 8. Of course, I'm hoping for another pound, but I will be happy if I just stay at this weight for a while. It took SO long to get below 140 -- not on JUDDDD, but on any weight loss plan at all. I would not be surprised if the pounds come off slowly from here on, because I only have 10 or 15 extra at this point. (My goal of 125 is sort of a guess; 128 or 130 might turn out to be ideal, and I'll know when I get there.) On ******, my goal date is 11/25/2009, and if I get to goal by then, I will be very, very, very happy indeed. Quote:

Lucianna - i had 3 eggs total. One for breakfast and two for a late lunch/early dinner. I'm just trying to keep DD's simple so there's little chance of me exceeding my calorie allowance.
Have you gone to the dr.'s website to find out your UD/DD calorie goals? |

Lucianna-
Yes, I keep low carb on UDs and DDs both. However, I don't do zero carb because I'm hypothyroid and theoretically should have about 30g of carbs a day. That's actually very difficult on a DD, and I barely get there on an UD. I eat low carb primarily for health reasons because I think that starch and sugar are poor food choices. However, Dr. J claims that JUDDD reduces insulin resistance, and I think it's true--at least in my case. I am very, very sensitive to carbs, and in the past if I ate a big carb meal, I'd not only put on water weight immediately, but my appetite would be enormous for several days. About once a month, I try to have a high carb meal (I've read that it helps confuse the body), and on JUDDD, I experience none of those effects. My appetite stays suppressed. |

So basically a 100 calorie lunch and I'm really eating!!! I was able to find shakes that I like (eas) but they aren't satisfying. So a shake mid-morning and my lunch at 12:30. (220 cals) and a salad later for dinner with boiled eggs should put me right at 500 cals. What types of recipes are you interested in? main dishes, snacks, breakfasts? Lemme know, Im at work until 2pm but after that I can share a couple recipes.

Good Morning!
This week is a bit odd for me, but I'm determined to get my 3 DD's in. I had one Sun, and will have the other two on Wed and Fri. Yesterday was an UD and today will be a MD because we are going to some friends house for dinner. I might try to do my MD Fast Five style to help keep a handle on the calories. Leo- Congrats on the great out to eat DD! That is quite an accomplishment ![]() Hello to all the new people! Wishing you great success on this WOE |

One thing I found to be helpful - embrace the hunger on DDs. We spend our whole lives trying to make the hunger go away... but the truth is that hunger is your body warning you that it's about to dip into your fat. I find that the hungrier I've been on DDs the more I've lost. Another thought - for me, at least - I was hungrier because my stomach was stretched out. I kept reminding myself that my stomach would shrink, and eventually I'd stop being hungry enough to eat my own arm, and after a few weeks it was true. I'm still hungry on DDs but not insanely so like I was at first. Letting yourself go hungry and not filling it on DDs will let it return to it's normal size, and you will find yourself portion controlling even on UDs. It's a a nice side effect. And even if your tummy in 'normal', if you're hypo, then it will allow your stomach to shrink a bit, so that UDs really feel like feast days. My mantra: EMBRACE THE HUNGER!!!!

Morning everyone.
Im back, i had some complications and unfrtunately i wasnt able to use my computer. I never understood that... if someone uses the computer for emotional support, and they get sick, then lets put them in a room and cut them off from their support system. Right. But anywho i am back, and thanks for all your sweet PM's, its nice to know you all were thinking about me. Anywho... i am at 125 still. I actaully crept down to 122 without trying, but then when i was feeling better i went on a few day binge on my retreat. So today is a new day, i am going back on JUDDD, and today will be a down day, but im not pressuring myself or going to worry if i go over... Hope you all are doing great, im seeing a few numbers drop on poeple siggies which is great! And i see lots of new faces, good luck to you all!

![]() Hope you enjoy our little thread! Post lots. Use the JUDD website to find out your UD limit... but don't force yourself to eat that much if you are hungry for less... and lots of us go over that occasionally and still lose. Personally I recently discovered that I am no longer in ketosis... and I PREFER to be in ketosis for appetite supression reasons. This week I'm going to focus on getting back into it which means 30-35g of carbs on UDs MAX for me. Quote:

I'll warn you, at first you'll want to eat your arm off. Don't freak out - just remember you can eat the next day! - and push through about the first 2 weeks. Down days will get easier. Eventually you'll actually look forward to them, no lie! For fastest weight loss, stick with UD calories, too. I use ****** or livestrong to keep track of my days. For me personally, water fasts for most of my DD followed by eating all of my DD calories in a single evening meal works the best.... if I try to ration it out, I always overeat my DD calories, and then I'm really cranky at night, but everyone differs. You may want to eat low calorie salads, soups, or nothing at all. Even if you decide to space your calories out, here's a great trick that will keep you hydrated and fuller - before ANY snack or meal, make a deal with yourself to sip at least 16 OZ of HOT (nearly boiling) bouillion, tea, or coffee. This takes some time, and will help your belly register "full" before it normally would. It will also ensure that you get sodium which you need and water, which you also need. |

Back On Track
I'm back! lol. Well unfortunately I had to go off my meds for a day and a half due to some bloodwork i got done yesterday but i'm back on them as of yesterday afternoon. I gained three pounds in that day and a half! Granted it was UD (half dose meds) MD (half dose meds) DD (no meds) but still, UGH that just reiterates to me how crazy important the thyroid is. Still working to get back to siggy weight or at least my latest three month plateau weight of 189. Should hear from my Dr.s office today or tomorrow re med increase which I strongly suspect is needed for me to have a chance to lose a pound.
Had good solid eating DD yesterday... 1 HB Egg, 2 Wedges Laughing Cow, 2 Ostrim Sticks, 2 Lite String Cheese... 2 GG Bran Crisp Slices... One tiny tomato Calories 589 Fat 35.9 320 57 % Carbohydrate 24.5 76 14 % Dietary Fiber 1.1 Protein 41.5 165 29 % *slightly* high on the calories but I'm happy with it and I'm VERY happy with the Carb count for the day. Today UD I'm aiming for 1800 cals and 30-35g of carbs. I'm REALLY trying to get back into Ketosis! Happy JUDDDDing everyone! |
