By the way, I often have all my calories by noon or 2 pm because I tend to be a morning eater. Once I realized that I could actually make it through the day without eating any more, it was incredibly liberating.
It turned out that it was a GOOD thing that I ate all my calories in that one meal, because what I found was it was far easier to do that - have one, satisfying, filling meal - than eat bits and pieces all day. I also think the time of day I did it - about 12 or so - was perfect. All I had to do at that point was skip dinner, and it was easy.
So live and learn! And after DD#2 I'm down 4 lbs from that inflated beach-trip weight. Woot!

I change my dds stragies from time to time. it keeps me from being bored. Right now I am doing LC. Other times it is tv dinners. But I only eat things I know the exact calorie count. And other times I will spread it thru out the day. Thats what I love about Juddd.

I had been adding some chopped spinach for another 20 cal, but for the second time today, I added some cooked broccoli flowerets instead. What a difference! Perhaps it's the bulk of the broccoli, but I feel like I'm eating a rich quiche rather than a small omelet. Definitely broccoli from now on because this is a very satisfying "meal" for under 100 cal.
Do you use egg beaters?

This is one of my go to DD meals also! Two jumbo eggs (so more cals than your eggwhites) bulked up nicely with 1 cup of cooked broccoli florettes. VERY SATISFYING.

Hi Again:

I apparently posted in last month's thread. As I said before, I have been using "Fat Loss for Idiots", which is a calorie cycling plan. Only problem is that I hate eating 4 times a day. JUDD appears to work the same way. Can I do VLC on a DD and more carbs on UD's? I imagine if you average all cals.over a week that pretty much shows your reduced level of consumption, right? Anyway, I'm going to try it and see. I had actually intended to earlier but then found the FLFI program.

Here's to success!

What is Fat Loss for Idiots?

I was doing VLC on DDs and LC on UDs but allowing myself a higher level of LC (I am personally of the mindset that LC does NOT mean Induction Levels only, I personally think that 60g of carbs is still LC). Carb cycling worked fine for me on JUDDD.

I haven't gotten back into JUDDD because I've been sick and eating lots of carbs, but two days ago got back to LC (Induction levels) and low cal daily, so I"m back down to my low of 161.6, which before I'd only seen thru JUDDD. I'm not going to knock a good thing (when I got back "on plan" I was 166.6, so just doing Induction Levels and eating less than 1600 cal a day has gotten 5lbs off, albeit water weight I'm sure) until it stops working again, and then I'll be back on JUDDD lol

Wow, I don't think ANY of that last paragraph made sense. What I meant was...

I went off plan a bit during vacation, then got sick and was eating BRAT diet (most bananas and oatmeal really). ALthough I didn't gain anything during vacation, while I was sick I gained (water weight I'm sure) up to 166.6. I went back to Induction Levels and under 1600 calories a couple days ago (Monday) and am down to 161.6. That was the lowest number I had seen since starting Atkins/dieting in general (though my lowest ever weight was 155). I originally got to 161.6 through JUDDD, but since I"m doing well on Atkins alone and 1600 calories, I'm going to ride this wave until it stops working.

There. I think.

Hey Suze... I'm not familiar with that plan I'm afraid. On JUDD you do not have to eat a set number of times each day either UD or DD so there is more flexibility there. Yes you can do Very Low Carb on Down Days and more carbs on Up Days this is totally allowed. JUDD is not written as a low carb plan although many of us tweak it to combine it with Low Carb. SO, you have flexibility on JUDD to make it as high carb or low carb as you are comfortable with as long as you follow the daily calorie cycling guidelines...

You can do that, but you may find it easier to do it the other way - VLC on UDs (so you can eat more calories, VLC foods tend to be calorie rich) and more carbs on DDs.

I personally do moderate carb on DDs (salad and lean protein) and high carb on UDs (yes, even cake). and it seems to work well for me.

Yes, I buy my supermarket's brand of "Eggbeaters" (cheaper). I'd actually prefer to eat whole eggs, even with the added calories, because they're such a complete food. But I try to follow an "anti-inflammatory" diet for my arthritis, and egg yolks are very inflammatory, so that's why the whites.

Yay me! I just got back from the gym. It was not as scary as it seemed...in fact it was fun I was unsure of how to use the equipment so I did about 10 mins on each to get the hang of things. I used the treadmill, exercise bikes, elliptical trainer and rowing machine. Whoo hoo! I feels good

I am treading water at my current weight. Stalls are so frustrating!! I have lost a few inches from everywhere thanks to serious excercising! But (and I know it is pscychological!) why won't that damn scale move!!!!!! Yes, muscles weighs more than fat, but I want it all!!! Especially I want to see my scale numbers get smaller...........

Thanks. Hope I have not offended anyone with my rant! Now I am going to mow the lawn.

O man I hear you! I've been stalled too for three months... At least one of those months I was eating IMMACULATELY... but for the other two its been wishy washy with some uber high carb two UD weekends and not perfect DDs... or out of control UDs...

That happened to me too. When I started running and doing yoga 3 times a week my weight went up to 117 (usually hovers around 114 - I am in maintenance) and I was like huh? But my clothes were still fitting and a bit loosely at that. So go by your clothes.

Hi everyone!

This week has been so nuts. My dad is in the hospital and has pneumonia (he is 86 so it is serious). My DD has been sick and our business has been hectic. I feel so out of it. I don't know if it is from all the activity or from my diet or what. Today is DD. Sorry I am sort of just venting.

Today was DD#3 and I've been headachy and hungry.
I started back to work yesterday (I work at a school) and we've had so many meetings that I haven't been able to feed myself properly. I don't know why they call the days before the kids come "workdays." They should call them "meeting days" or "Staff development days." No one gets work done. It's exhausting.
Anyhoo, home now with some food in my belleh (500 cals) and just waiting for tomorrow!
A
p.s. yesterday was an UD but this a.m. I was actually down .4 lbs. Strange! I think my body likes this.

Hey everyone...

I'm still sulking about my crappy doctors appointment and the fact that I haven't lost any weight in so long. I'm still sticking with it. I've had 120 calories today so far, but will probably eat the rest up with dinner in an hour or so.

Homestretch: So sorry to hear about your dad. I find it the most difficult to stick to a WOE when I'm stressed out and worried especially about someone I love. Prayers are with you!

Cherlyndria: Good for you! Keep it up... I don't feel the gym add's a lot to my weight loss, but I know it's good for me and I find that it helps me maintain weight loss when I go off of any eating plan I'm on.

I'm still having the...uh-um....tummy troubles I wrote about earlier, only on Up Days. This morning was after a Pop Tart. It's happened after Pop-Tarts, biscuits, cereal, and oatmeal, so I don't think it's what I'm eating. I started wondering if it could be the fish oil capsules I take daily (in the hopes of lowering my cholesterol), so I looked it up. Sure enough, they can cause "gastrointestinal upset," so I'm going to quit taking them for a few days to see if they are the culprits... Anyone else experienced this with fish oil?

Misty-

I have taken fish oil capsules for years with no GI problems, but it might be the brand you're using. On these boards, I learned that Carlson's is considered very pure, and that's what I've been using for the past couple of years.

Hello, all. Just wanted to introduce myself. I found this diet and forum a little over a week ago. This plan seems so easy to follow that I started right away. So far it's been great. I don't feel terribly deprived knowing that I can eat tomorrow.

I am a veteran dieter. I was a fat child. Lost weight as a teen, and actually maintained weight under 120 (I am only 4'10") for most of my adult life until about 10-15 yrs. ago. I hit middle age, married a wonderful man (who unfortunately died 2 yrs. ago) who really didn't care much about my weight, and let my weight go. At one point I topped 180!!! It really is harder to lose as you get older. I came down from that high weight but still am close to 150. That's a lot for someone as short as I am. As I said, I came across this plan (from the Woman's World Weekly article) and got started right away. Today is one week and I am down 2 lbs. And I haven't had to be deprived at all.

I've been reading the posts. This seems like a great community. I look forward to getting to know you.

Thanks to everyone with the well wishes for my Dad. He is about the same and very weak but according to the doctors they believe he has turned the corner.

***Misty***Are you sure it is not your diet? Does this happen after you eat high carb sugary foods like you mentioned or all the time? I did not have that problem with fish oil but I did have an allergic reaction to it and broke out in a rash from head to toe. My dermatologist (who is the absolute top in her field in St. Louis) told me she is frustrated with the overuse of fish oil. She said that she sees a lot of side effects with it and really does not believe in it. She feels like it is the latest fad and we really do not know what we are putting in our bodies and people do not think there will be side effects because it is natural. Of course that is just her opinion but she is generally quite supportive of all sorts of treatments and is the first to recommend non prescription remedies.

**Kaylowe**Welcome! It sounds like you are doing super. My mom was 4'10"! One of my fondest memories of her is that when we used to shop I could not find her over the racks so I would look for her tuft of grey hair sticking up. Out of my 4 aunts only one is over 5 foot. So I am particularly fond of shortness

Leo- Where do you get the Carlson's brand?

Homestretch-- Glad to hear you're dad is improving! As for what I eat, it always seems to happen after my first meal on my UD, regardless of what it is. Someone had mentioned maybe it was after eating something greasy, and I thought maybe that could be the case because that particular time I had a sausage biscuit. However, I've tried eating oatmeal, cereal, eggs, etc, and everytime, it's the same thing. And it's always within like 30 minutes of my first meal, so surely the food hasn't had time to digest by then... About the fish oil, I started reading up on it to see if GI problems were common, and I found a lot that said that people who are taking it to lower cholesterol (as I am) are not really doing much for themselves. I thought the Omega 3 stuff was supposed to be good for brain function, though?

Hope everyone has a great day! DD here, and I woke up hungry. Gonna get to cleaning the house to keep my mind off it!
