Dove- not sure what is wrong with your puppy, i do know a lot of specialists that would be happy to give you a consult if it is something that other veterinarians are having issues with. We will be thinking of you...I hope everything turns out ok, really truely i even have my fingers and toes crossed.

I actually have to say no to this... for some reason when i am away from my home, my stomach and mind react differently to everything. I think it may have something to do with my anxiety and nerves. But my stomach is dead set on eating, i eat, then i get a odd stomach ache, and when i dont feel good i eat, so therefore i start eating, then feel worse. I have been trying to work on it, not sure why it happens, i just dont feel right.

I think it is not crazy to bring your scale, i say do anything you can to make things seem normal to you. I think bringing some of your food, your scale etc is a great idea.

Leo & Kisha- Yes, you are both right that I need to focus on getting my little one's well, but I hate missing this much time at the gym (a week already!). Missing even a week makes it so much more difficult to get back into the groove. Not to mention, lately I just haven't had a lot of spunk when I've been there as it is.

Darn... I was up 5 pounds today! I'm hoping it's water retention since I had a good DD yesterday. Drinking LOTS of water today to try to flush it out if that is the case.

I just received a call that the realtor wants to show my house tomorrow morning. SO, now I'm trying to get my house all cleaned and take care of my little ones when all I really feel like doing is sleeping.

Just checking in.

Had 2 UDs on Fri and Sat. Hubby was born on 4th of July, so we accomodated him all weekend! I did a successful 500 cal DD yesterday. It allowed me to stay steady at my lowest 223. This week I expect to have a considerable drop. I'll check in with more later.

Another Monday

Another Monday, after another less than stellar long weekend. Ugh. I'm so over myself right now.

I'm posting here for some accountability (again). I am formally comitting to just ONE WEEK of perfect on plan eating. NO OFF PLAN BITES! I've been doing the bite of this bite of that higher carb (okay, hella high carb) stuff. I'm doing one solid week of true low carb JUDD rotation with today as my first day (DD). I'm going camping after work on Friday so staying OP DD friday should be fine - I won't arrive at the campground til quite late at night. Saturday UD river day... should be able to eat low carb no problem that day. Then coming home DD on Sunday (MAYBE MD) but if its MD it is going to be LOW CARB and LESS THAN 1000 calories.

I need a freaking solid week under my belt!

Kisha-

I have never been camping (my idea of roughing it is a hotel without 24-hour room service), but the image of you bringing your bathroom scale on a camping trip is delightful! However, I know what you mean about UDs escalating. I find unless I keep a constant count, those calories can get out of hand so quickly!

I know what you mean about 'less-than-stellar weekend! On Saturday morning [UD], I planned what I would eat that day, and my calories were over 1800 before I got to dinner! And I knew I wanted to eat all that stuff after a solid week of JUDDD absolutely on plan with no loss. Emotions are a terrible thing. I got lower on Sunday, but <1000 cal which had been my goal. I'm determined to get through this week at 350/1200. I have no trouble with low carb; it's those calories that I need to monitor.

Have gone way over calories from stress eating today but so far not "off plan" as in higher carb. Still think I'm under 20g for the day so far...having chicken for dinner I think, or whatever hubby will make. Gus Gus is the same. I totally cannot have kids.

Dovelette-

Has the puppy been to the vet? Do you have a diagnosis?

Actually, the ONLY time I'm unable to eat is when something is wrong with my cat. Like you, I can't imagine what it would be like if I had children, although after infancy, they can at least tell you what hurts, etc. With a pet, it's like trying to cope with an infant who is not well, but you don't know what the problem is.

I hope the situation is resolved soon for all of you.

Sorry, Dovelette, I just found your message about your puppy on The Playground. How awful for all of you!

Don't they do X-rays there either? If anything happens to this poor puppy, do not get another pet until you come home. I can't imagine having to let an animal suffer because of lack of vet care that we consider standard.

Were it me, I'd probably be on a plane right now with that poor baby. I live in NY (upstate), and the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan is world-famous for animal care and research, so I'm a little spoiled.

Last year, I brought my cat in to have his teeth cleaned, which they do under anesthesia. When I brought him home, he became ill, and it was only the second time that I brought him back that they made a diagnosis--they had 'accidentally' slit his esophogus during the procedure. I had to take him to a big animal hospital about an hour away for the intensive care he needed, but I can't imagine NOT having such care available.

So very sorry!

I need the whole picture here.... Are you going to be in a tent? If so, how tall is it? Will you be able to stand up or will you weigh kneeling down (will that even give you an accurate weight?)?

I kid, I kid. I really DO understand.

I'm going for six days next week (in our RV, not REAL camping). I hadn't even thought of taking the scale before today.

The same. exact. thing. happened to me last week. I am at a loss as to why. It's been coming back off, but painfully slowly. Good luck with the showing.

So far my DD is going well. I went for a run/walk/climb up the stairs this morning. It was cool and overcast when I left, but it had gotten pretty toasty by the time I got back.

I went kinda crazy earlier, i am going to tell you what i ate so it holds me accountable.
chicken dipped in strawberriy jam, about 100 cals worth.
Then i had strawberries dipped in bbq sauce, then i had quite a few bowls of cinnamon pecan special k cereal, but i didnt have any almond milk left so i just ate them dry, the last bowl i added some chocolate chips
Last thing i ate was a couple hours ago, onion with sugar on top....

... so i am up to 950 not low carb cals.... (supposed to be a dd) im not hungry, but i want to eat, just one of those days TOM is coming on the 8th, so i am in full force right now.. doing everything i can not to get out the ice cream, peanut butter and pickles and mixing them in a bowl... it never ends.

But no more food, and i am going to go try Powerflex at 6:45 tonight... SUPER EXCITED
I tried a bit of it before in a mixed training class... it is a constantly moving strength training, so it ends up being a bit of cardio, fluid movements using both weights and a stretchy band thing... i think i will really like it, but i feel rather bloated and it is going to take all my strength to show up to class and not cancel. I then want to leave class and not stop at the bakery with the cinnamon apple thingies that got me way off track last TOM. I am going to come straight home, not eat anything else tonight. period.

Remy, I hope you are doing better by now. GO to the class. Nothing brings me out of a tailspin like exercise.

I'm not going to make an AWF today, but that is OK. I did my run/stair climb this morning (900 cals worth according to ******) and I was really, truly hungry this afternoon. I had a protein shake, banana and some pea pods for just under 300 cals. I was planning a salad and chicken breast for dinner before I had the shake and stuff, so I'll see how I feel later.

Remy, I'm with Gina... GO TO CLASS!

I'm still okay for AWF today but its only four p.m. I'm going to be home tonight not out and about so I'll try to kill some time by washing and blowdrying my hair. Don't laugh! It takes like forty-five minutes to blow dry!

This is by far the most controlled UD I've had so far since doing JUDDD! I've eaten, but nothing out of control at all and even allowed myself to get hungry this evening. I don't usually do that on UD. I usually eat more than enough to keep me from being hungry but today was a crazy busy day and I just nibbled on fruit and a few deviled eggs for dinner while I was on the phone with a neighbor, then took my daughters to swim team practice. I only took 3 granola bars for them and nothing for me so I ended up hungry by the time it was half over. I'm having a glass of wine and a little biscotti thing and that it will be it. I'm planning another AWF tomorrow. I'm still very bloated and things are just a bit sluggish right now, but I"m hanging on for that whoosh!

Kisha, how'd your AWF go?

Wow Leisa! I'm impressed... I'm going to try to follow your example on my UD tomorrow. I'd love to come in under 1800 calories.

I did not end up doing AWF. I was too hungry so I ate 3 97% FF Hebrew National Hot dogs, 2 TBS spicy hummus & 12 sugar free chocolate covered almonds. With the 1/2 and 1/2 that I had in my coffee it came in at 492 so I'm still quite pleased.

I plan CONTROLLED UD tomorrow followed by AWF on Wednesday... Maybe one on Friday too we'll see.

BTW I'm sleeping in a big tall family tent so at least I won't be weighing myself in front of everyone at the retreat LOL.

Gus Gus died last night. We knew there were vets in Cape Verde so we assumed that he would be able to get medical care, but we were wrong. No, they don't have xray machines for animals here. I was told it is VERY difficult to even get an xray for a person. If you come to Cape Verde, you would see that it's not so "undeveloped" as to think that they wouldn't have more resources for animal care...it was just so surprising that there were no options.

Leo, there is a very long process for taking a dog from country to country, so it would not have been possible to get him back to the US just like that. Also planes only fly out of Cape Verde to go to the US on Friday's and Tuesday's, so the timing wouldn't have worked. We won't be getting another puppy, Gus Gus was just...he was so special. I'm so sad that my family won't get to know him and he won't get to come back to America with us. I miss him so much. With all the horribly mistreated, neglected and abused dogs here, I don't understand why it had to be my baby that died.

Yesterday was DD#13.

I lost another pound, bringing me to 142! That's a total of seven pounds lost in just under a month. Is it possible? Is it true? I FINALLY have found a weight loss plan that keeps working after the first two weeks? Glory be!

Dovelette-

I am so very sorry about your puppy! I was only half serious when I mentioned jumping on a plane with him because I know it's not that easy to travel with animals.

Even though you've only had him a short time, I know you're devastated. I tend to bond with my pets within 24 hrs! Last year, I lost my cat after we'd been together for 18 years (she was almost 20), and it was a dreadful experience. It must be much worse for you not having been able to get him the care he needed. Be comforted in the fact that your baby is no longer suffering, and that you gave him a better life than he'd have had if he hadn't been with you.

Perhaps you now have a mission there. Is there any way you can advocate to get better treatment for animals?

Kisha you did great yesterday! Like someone pointed out, under 500 calories works...that's what Dr. J says, so go with it! The only reason I do the AWF's is because I find for me it's easier not to begin eating....at least this week, Things change so much for me lately. I have a funny to add to your scale obsession. I weigh every day also and I've discovered that I know how much my poop weighs (sorry ) Seriously, I weighed this morning, but then "went" and so I weighed again and before I got on, I thought, maybe I'll be down a pound, but then my next thought was "no, I'll be down .4" and that is exactly what it was That's just being just a little too familiar with your body, haha!

Oh, Dove, I"m so very sorry! I had a puppy once that we found in the woods behind our home (mother had abandoned it) He was the most special dog I have ever had. I bonded with him immediately. He lived 18 months and I went through taking him to the University of Tennessee and through all kinds of tests and such and even had to leave him there (makes me cry to this day because when I went to visit, he leaned against my leg not wanting me to leave) I miss him SO bad, and it's been 15 years since he died and I still cry about it. I am really so sorry for your loss.

My scale is put away because my house is being shown in about a half hour, and I'm glad it is because I feel heavier after yesterdays UD and don't want to know what the scale says. Though it wasn't a "bad" UD. I really don't want to know what my body did especially after my DD weight gain.

Dove- I'm so sorry about the loss of your puppy! I lost my dog to cancer last year and it was very hard for our family. My little boy was quite attached to him.

I forgot to say that my weight this morning was only up less than .5 after my UD yesterday. I'm usually up about 2 pounds and lately even as much as 4 so this is good!

Good Morning JUDDDers!

Well, I have officially lowered my goal weight. As of Saturday I was .6 away from my goal and I know that I am just not there yet. I am still really chubby. So, for now my new goal is 110 and I changed it in my siggy. I know it's going to be a long process...and that's okay, cause it's STAYING OFF this time.

Happy JUDDDing everyone!

You can do it, Michelle! I think my goal will change too, but I haven't gotten as close as you, so I'll wait. Go Michelle!
