Trish-

Just enjoy yourself and do the best you can. When I was on vacation for 4 days in New Orleans, I just ate as healthily and carefully as I could, considering that all meals were restaurant meals. No desserts of course, but I nibbled on some good carbs and tried to watch my calories, but didn't pass up delicious, whole food. I came home with a 2.5 lb gain, but I LOST it all, including an additional pound in the following week!

When you get back, just go right into a DD and continue the alternation you follow normally, and I think you'll see that JUDDD is very forgiving of these necessary vacation breaks.

Enjoy!

Good Morning JUDDDERS!

Well, I am .4 above my all time low, BUT that's after an UD AND eating at a mexican restaurant yesterday. Today, is a DD, so I am seriously hoping for some VFT tommorrow!!

This week was my first week of true rotation and it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be, but not sure it's been long enough to really know if it's speeding up my weight loss. I will do another week and see what happens.

Everyone have a great weekend!

Michelle, we're on the same rotation. I don't do MD's unless something happens and it's incovenient or whatever. Hoping you get your VFT tomorrow and ME TOO!

Leo - Thanks for those ideas on an UD. I know for me it is very easy to get complacent and stop watching what I am eating if I am not careful. That would quickly derail my success!

You have a great attitude about your weightloss journey!

Trishgrrl - It is so hard around family and feasts to have DDs. just hang in there and remember the good thing about JUDD is it helps you get control again. Enjoy your family time and your vacation!

Hope everyone has a blessed weekend!

Total wash today. It was supposed to be a DD. My husband and I went to church to hear a guest speaker, and there was a lovely luncheon afterwards. Actually it was more like a dinner. My best friend was there, so I thought, "I'm just going to enjoy myself today." I'm glad I did. I'm not in a race to loose this weight. I'll get back on track tomorrow. My friend commented on how I look like I've lost more weight, and my clothes are getting looser. I'll stay on track this week and weigh myself next weekend.

Redeemed I think this is one of the main reasons I love this woe so much. It's so forgiving and we can just enjoy days here and there without losing all our hard work. On strict Atkins, I couldn't deviate even the tiniest bit and even then I had stopped losing, so I'm so glad to have an option! Glad you had a good day! Tomorrow is a new day and in the grand scheme of things this is not a big deal!

Howdy! I haven't been on much...busy with work etc. I'm still on plan and doing OK.....I'm down to 170lbs. now! I was at 184 on 4/20 when I started JUDDD. I may go back to LC on my UP days to see if I can get rid of these last 10 lbs. quicker....I hope everything is going well for you and enjoy your weekend!!

I agree - no deviation on Atkins for me when I did it. An off day on Atkins usually meant 3 days in a row of binging. No so with JUDD. We seem to either have quite a few posters who quit JUDD or are not posting . Would like to hear from some of the others who havn't posted in a while to see how their doing or why they quit JUDD.

Michelle, congratulations on your VFT! yeah for both of us! I have been getting ready for church and thinking about my goal weight. I still can't even visualize the weight I am now so it's hard to decide what I want my goal to be. I'm just going to keep going and if 120 feels right, I'll hang out there, but if I think I can go a little further I will. What are you basing your goal weight on? I weighed 105 when I was 18. I weighed 125 when I was in my 20's and teaching aerobics. Somewhere in between seems right, but not sure where yet.

Good morning everyone! Congrats to those in VFT! That is sooo awesome!

Well, yesterday was supposed to be a DD for me but it became a total free for all. I did it. I claim it. I am NOT going near the scale for several days.

My original rotation calls for UD today and I have something coming up this week that I need an UD on Thursday so I may do a MD today and DD on Monday to get back on track.

Have a great day!

Great planning! I actually have a similar situation. I'm going to a Moms NIght Out tomorrow night and it should be my DD, but I've decided what I will do is go ahead and plan my window from 5 to 10pm and then just eat pretty much whatever I want at the MNO and just try to eat the majority of veggies and stuff. I think I'll take a veggie tray just in case no one else does and then I'll be sure to have it. I'll take something else also so I can have something "fun" to take. Unless I really feel like I went way overboard, I"ll probably just go ahead and have my UD on Tuesday as planned.

Hey Leisa - I am basing my goal weight on what I weighed before I got pregnant, but I am wondering if I will have more to go once I get there. I won't know until I am there. I only have 5 lbs. till goal, but it really feels like it will need to be more.

Congratulations to both of you!

I'm STILL not in VFT. I was supposed to do a DD Friday, but it turned more medium. So yesterday I did a real, true DD. 436 cals, all measured and logged. No nibbles, licked fingers, nothing. I am lower than yesterday, but still no VFT- up a pound over my low. I think that's 8 DDs now with no loss. TOM is coming, maybe that's it.

I am such a low calorie noob.

We went out to run some errands yesterday afternoon and were planning an early dinner out. So before we left I got on the internet and checked out Subway. Their salads, without dressing, are anywhere from 120 to 150 cals. I had no idea. I thought they would be much higher. I added FF honey mustard sauce as dressing and came in at 160 cals for my dinner salad. It wasn't as good as a salad with cheese and full fat Ranch, but not bad for a DD.

I was pretty hungry when I looked it up and when I saw how low the cals are I had a banana.

I am SOOOOOO hungry today! Wow! This is the hardest day so far for me. TOM is a week away so I guess my hormones could be kicking in. I also started my new thyroid meds and so I don't know if they might be causing it. (will have to read up on that) I'm famished! I'm getting ready to steam clean my couch though so that will carry me through. Today is an UD so I will have fun once I start, lol!

Good morning everyone! I won't be posting for a while. I think I'm going to try to experiment with Fast 5. JUDDD has worked for me; and I LOVE the UD's. Fast 5 may be more compatable for my work lifestyle - working nights and all. If my wndow of opportunity to eat is 5P - 10P (as recommended in the book), I can have my dinner at work around 9PM. That way I won't be so hungry on my night shift. DD's when I work nights are very difficult. I'll try Fast 5 for one month. If I do not have success, I may return to JUDDD because I would rather do JUDDD than Atkins. Fast 5 appears to have the same health benefits as JUDDD and I could incorporate JUDDD into Fast 5 if necessary; so I don't feel I'm losing anything in that respect. I hope you all find success with your woe. LEISA: I will be PMing you with a couple of questions I have re: Fast 5. I'm not trying to de-rail this wonderful thread. I'm just letting people know why I won't be posting. Thanks to so many of you for your great support.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Well, my moderate day is turning to an up day right now. I that JUDDD allows for flexibility. My weight(s) have been steady and I am not concerned about the slow rate of loss because of the flexibility. Since I weigh in every day, the "high" weight is lowering faster than the "low" weight. I forgot to measure myself at the beginning, so I need to do that, since my clothes seem less tight.

How is everyone explaining this WOE?

Well, I didn't make it. dh reminded me though that I had run 4 miles yesterday and THEN I "exercised" with him last night, and all that on about 450 calories. Usually I don't feel that way, but I also had wine last night and I think the combination just made for a rough day after for me. I ended up right after I posted that "I'm starving" post having a sandwich and my dd's leftover chips. Then I got busy and cleaned the couch (man was it dirty ) Friends of ours are giving us their couch and matching chair so I'm giving ours to other friends, so I wanted to clean it first before they come get it. I'm going to just try to close my fast 5 window around 6 or shortly after so I should still be ok.

I don't really. Last night we went to dinner and I had a salad from Subway (I usually eat salad so that's not weird). DH says "There's not much on there." I told him "I'm trying to tap into my reserves today." That's our euphamism for losing weight.

We kind of have a "don't ask, don't tell policy" about dieting. I'm improving the quality of the diet of the whole family with whole foods, no HFCS, etc. and we talk about that, but I'm the only one trying to lose weight.

We've been married for 22 years and I have been on and off many diets. He learned to stay out of that minefield a long time ago.

Today is an UD for me, and I'm trying to keep it under control. I had a weird breakfast: lunchmeat roll-ups with garden spice cream cheese and a piece of sprouted wheat toast with pb & grape jelly. It's what sounded good.

I was reading a thread on the ML about CO and I realized I hadn't had any in quite awhile. Fawn mentioned that CO helps cellulite and next time I looked at my legs, sure enough, it looked worse. I was giving credit for the improvement to running and losing fat, but it doesn't look that way. I busted the jar back out and plan to get plenty in on my UDs.

Redeemed, good luck with your new plan. I am a firm believer in shaking things up regularly.

Mike, comgratulations on your success. I can't wait to say "those last 10 lbs"

Leisa, have you had a problem running on your DDs? I didn't even try it for the first few weeks, but yesterday I did my longest run ever on the morning of a DD on nothing but coffee. I came home and had a boiled egg and that held me quite awhile.

Have a good day everyone.

WOE: atkins to JUDDD
Start Date: 17/5/09
Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself to you, I have been reading your forum all the way from bonny Scotland and decided to join today!

I had been doing atkins for a few months but couldn't seem to get down any lower than 127lbs, so have decided to try Juddd, having read all of your posts.

I had my first dd today and have had about 400 cals. Been pretty easy so far, but can feel a bit of a headache coming on now. I have gotten to the stage now where I am terrified to eat carbs after avoiding them for so long, (only ever done atkins induction)

I had a tiny bit of ice cream today but still stuck to 400cals but I am worried about having carbs tomorrow, incase I put on lots of weight overnight! What are your experiences here? Is it okay to have carbs on an up day as long as you stick to your allowed calories?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Gina, I don't have any trouble running on DD at all. This time, I just had trouble the next day (today) because of Fast 5. I just needed to eat earlier, but have been fine since I did.

Funny thing about your breakfast. I have noticed that I'm much more particular about what I eat and if it sounds good, I eat it!

Katie! I did Atkins induction for a long time and had stopped losing. I am hypothyroid and had read that I might need to up my carbs a bit, so I began investigating other ways of eating and came across this forum. I went straight from Atkins induction to eating any carbs I wanted and have been losing steady ever since (April). I stayed between 134 and 140 for 2 years on Atkins and since April have dropped to 127! I'm thrilled with JUDDD and hope it works for you!

Oh that is wondeful news! Thanks so much! I am a little bit scared but am going to try myself with carbs again tomorrow! Have been missing them. So do you now have any carbs at all? Potatoes, rice, bread? I am going to stick with wholemeal for now!

Did you put on any weight to begin with? Only reason I'm worried is because I am goin to Madrid this coming Saturday and don't want to wake up after my up day and be half a stone heavier!

Katie, I didn't gain weight at first. I did gain when I went on vacation but lost it alot faster than I ever did on ATkins and yes, I eat whatever carbs I want, which is plenty! On DD's, I basically eat low carb and low cal in order to not be hungry. You might wake up heavier but remember that with most of us, we find that a DD or two will take care of those times we go up.

Good Morning Ladies!
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I was attempting a DD (while out of state visiting family) yesterday and pretty much failed. I came in ariound 850ish calories. It's hard when I'm not busy and everyone is sitting around snacking and eating all day! I never thought this woe was difficult until I was out of my element.

Redeemed: I hope Fast 5 works for you. Please keep us posted. I'll miss your contribution to the board!

Katie: I added back carbs right away and lost!

Janet: I have explained this woe to my husband and mom. I just tell them I eat 500 cal MWF and the other days I can eat like a normal person. My husband is very supportive but my mom is quite skeptical and wonders how healthy that is.

Michelle & Leisa: CONGRATS on VFT!!! I have a long way to go to get there, but it's exciting hearing about your losses!

Gina: I had a 6' sub from subway a couple weeks ago and was able to stay well within my cal limit for the day! Subway has lots of options
