WOE: was JUDDD *currently pregnant!*
Hi! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here on this thread and the tweakers thread! All of you have inspired me to start JUDDD a month ago.

There were a lot of stressful situations for me in the last year and I kept trying to get back to low carb. When I saw this and the other monthly threads, I thought that this could be something that I could do. I had tried some other low carb plans, but it didn't seem to work this time for me for many reasons.

In a month, I have lost eight pounds!! I want to eat towards low carb, but the last month has been all over the place. I weigh myself everyday and I am not sure who said it, but the weight is coming off in batches. Also, my "high" weight after the UD is going down and is much less than my starting weight. I have had quite a few moderate days due to family functions and office birthday lunches.

Right now, I am trying to take notes on everyone's DD menus. I don't have the book yet, but the statement about diet stress really stood out for me. I am trying to concentrate on the DD calories and writing down what I eat for UD.

I just wanted to really say that this is really working and thank you for sharing your experiences!! Hope to check in later, but I need to go to work! Have a great day!!!

Janetaz! Good job on the loss! It's funny how so many of us were stuck on low carb alone and have had great success with this. I truly love doing JUDDD that I also combine with Fast 5 (mainly to keep me from overdoing it on UD's) I couldn't get out of the mid to upper 130's to save my life while doing low carb this time, but have now dropped to 128.4 and I have no doubt that it will continue! Glad it's working for you also!

Janetaz, I don't post my DD menu but many here do. I'm on a DD today and so far I've only had some coffee with nondairy creamer.
Lunch may be some chicken broth if I'm hungry,
This evening I will be attending a Athletic Banquet with my DD. I will same most my calories for then.
Best of Luck,

I'm glad of all the tools there are to use. What I can't do is quit...
Me too. All the time I was doing regular LC, I felt like I was doing something GOOD for my body even if I wasn't losing.

Not so much now. I do believe the calorie restriction claims, but there are just as many benefits to LC. I bought low fat mayo and non fat sour cream yesterday to make egg salad. What they have done to those pretty natural products to lower the fat and cals can't be good.

The thing I've decided is to use the low fat low cal stuff as "extra" items (like the mayo for egg salad) and keep the bulk of my food "real." Years ago, when I did WW and low fat I don't think much of what I ate could be considered real food.

I'll do this as long as I'm losing, but if I stop I'll try something else. I was so excited in the beginning because the weight was FINALLY moving, but I've been through seven DDs with no loss now. I know there can be many reasons for it and there are things I can tweak, but if this plan isn't going to work there are healthier, easier ones to try.

I'm with you Gina. I haven't really been losing since i went to three set down days. I'm going back to true alternation for the next week leading up to my 05/21/09 vacation. On Vacay I historically just eat Atkins OWL levels for the whole trip.

I'll keep this up as long as I'm losing... but I don't know if I could do several weeks with no loss. As far as "healthier" I keep my dd food healthy and mostly whole food. The weirdest thing I eat is a low cal low fat dressing from TJ's... but its just made with buttermilk, nothing weird so I don't feel like my DD choices are unhealthy. Oh yeah and the hebrew national 97% FF Hot dogs thats another "diet" food I eat sometimes on DD.

I also believe in the benefits of SIRT1 and I also believe I can get to goal and maintenence eating this way. Its more successful than any other WOE that I have tried and I'm still really happy with it. I just think true alternation is more succesful for me and that I will incorporate MD only in emergency... not scheduled every week.

Man, Gina, you have resolve!!! I've had two DDs with no loss and was really wavering!

I have been doing true alternation for three weeks now and believe it is much better than having a MD. The MD just drew the weightloss out. True alternation seems to keep the weightloss going.

Yeah I'm going back to it! I'll be off track for four day vacation but right back to true alternation when I get back. I'll save the scheduled MD thing for maintenance.

Keisha-

Be sure to post how the true alternation works for you. I'd hate to do it (love my MWF DDs), but I'll certainly try it, if it really makes a difference. I was worried about swimming on DDs, but since I've done that once, I think I can incorporate it into DDs if I have to.

Gina-

Even when I was doing straight low carb, I had to use some low fat things for medical reasons. The key I've found is to read labels carefully because some are made with junk, but others are not so bad. I find the lowfat mayo from Hellmann's (the one that's 35 cal. per T) is OK and so is the nonfat Greek yoghurt. Both don't have a lot of artificial additives. But those are about the only low cal things I get because my diet is mainly grass-fed meat, fish, veggies, and salad.

Well i was doing true alternation for that whole month that I lost TWELVE POUNDS IN ONE MONTH!!! *faints with the memory*

I'll post my weekly results for the four weeks following my vacay.

Its just to goal...
There are options in maintenence.
And of course MDs sometimes just break out when UD gets a bit high.

Hey Juddders!!

Well, I was back to my all time low this morning of 121.4, but I have not broke through to 120. I AM feeling skinnier though, and it's TOM, so maybe it's coming.

Just curious, who eats out on a regular basis and still loses? I do not eat out very often, but when I do I always feel like it's a setback, although maybe it's not.

Just wanted to say, when I do eat out, I always keep track of everything. I count carbs and calories.

Hi, all!

It's a DD for me, and I'm trying to stay as low as possible. I've had an apple, so that's about 80 calories. I think I may stick with a light salad (about 100 calories) so that would keep me very low calorie for the day.

I'm trying to get back on a true rotation as well - the weight loss on the set schedule was fine, but started slowing, so I'm shaking things up a bit.

I'm going to try using my wiifit, as well and see if that boosts anything.

I've been extremely sick, so I've no idea how I'm doing so far this month.

Missed you all!!!! Totally glad to be back and not so sick.

Good Afternoon JUDDD'ers from HOT HUMID Louisiana! I sure left some nice MI weather to come here.

I have lots of posts to catch up on. THANKS for the congrats on the losses and the house. We had to up our bid on the house because we found out there was another one. Anyhow, we're anxiously waiting to find out what happens!
Junkinmytrunk: That is so funny that you used to live in Owosso. I didn't live in Owosso at that time... I was in the Dallas area in 89!

Today is a DD for me. YIKES! This is going to be hard down here. My father-in-law is currently grilling great big yummy steaks for us (he makes the best!). I sure don't want to gain back everything I've lost. But I'm not going to say no to the meal they're preparing today for sure since I know it's especially for me. Anyhow... I hope this goes alright. I haven't had anything to eat yet today.

I hope everyone is having a lovely day :-)

Mammapo: Welcome back! Glad you're feeling better. I can't do two UD's in a row without gaining. I'm going to try an UD MD in a row this week and see how that goes. I don't mind the true alteration but if I can get buy with throwing an MD in, I will. I will weigh on Sunday. I'm not good about weighing and have stayed away from the scale again for a couple of weeks.

I'd calculate EXACTLY how much steak I could eat for my DD cal limit. And then eat every bite. Plus you can have nummy leftovers tomorrow?

Mammapo-

Sorry you were ill but so glad you're better--and back.

Kisha-
I forgot about 12 lbs in one month (dying with envy). That's enough to make me go to true alternation, but I'll wait out this month to see what happens. I've become more careless with UDs, and I want to get those totally under control before I make any other changes.

Michelle-

As much as I love eating out, I try to avoid restaurants because although I, too, watch both carbs and calories carefully, eating out always causes problems for me. Part of it may be because I am very sensitive to food additives (like MSG), but it also may be because it's so difficult to judge calories in restaurant food. I do best when I only eat what I prepare.

Hello all!

I have been super busy and haven't had much time to post this week.

I am still JUDDING and keeping a check on calories. Unfortunately I have had to eat on the run most of this week.

NOSugarshell - To answer your question....I would rather eat at home but have not been able to due to work schedule this week. So, I have had grilled chicken sandwiches with mustard and pickle only on DDs. Those average around 370-400 cals each. I usually wait to eat til late - kind of a fasting type thing.
I have also eaten a greek salad out once and it came in at around 440 calories. I am really watching cals now and it helps my weight loss even if I have to eat out!

As of Thursday and my one month JUDDiversary, I have lost 14 lbs! I am feeling swollen today and it could be because of having to ride in the car so much, plus preTOM weight. Everyone please remind me tomorrow when I weigh if I am up that it HAS to be water!!

Anyway, to keep from eating out of boredom, I went to my closet today and tried on all these clothes that USED to be too tight! They are now comfortable and loose! I hope JUDD keeps working like this! I get nervous after a while if the losses stop. I only have about 8 lbs til goal and I will be in maintenance.

Have a great Friday night partners!!!

Oh yeah I forgot to add. I have been keeping a check on what restaurants offer low cal stuff and what the calorie count is before I eat that particular meal. There are a ton of websites out there with this info if you are interested.

Today is my 5th DD and I don't appear to have lost weight so far but....
when I think of what I've eaten on my up days () it is amazing that I haven't gained and the truth is, my clothes feel looser too. I now realize that the key will be for me to be more accountable on my up days. With free reign I just eat whatever, whenever... and while that might work for maintenance.. I still have weight I'd like to lose.
The funny thing is that it is easier somehow for me to have a down day, when I know exactly what I can eat, and in what amounts.. than doing an up day when I don't have a plan in place. Suddenly I'm starving and eating pasta, and handfuls of choc. chips etc.... not the best choices for sure. I guess I'm so worried that I'll feel deprived.. that I just remove all boundaries. For me the key is remembering I can have some of the things that I want... but not all in one day, and not in vast quantities (at least if I expect to lose weight).
Congrats to all the losers.. you are giving me hope!

Hey everyone, I've been out ALL day, but wanted to report in. UD for me and I ate at Pizza Hut with dd and her friend. I had a big salad and 2 slices of pizza. Before I had that, I had several handfuls of trail mix because I was really getting hungry. I'm going to have a glass of wine in a minute. Even after all that, I still weigh the same thing as I did last night after my DD. I think JUDDD and Fast 5 are really working for me! I'll probably be up a bit from sodium causing bloating but I can live with that!

Hey all

I was on here complaining this morning that I haven't been losing, it's been 7 DDs and no pounds, etc, etc.

I went to change and noticed I looked thinner than I did just a few days or a week ago. So, I got out the ol' tape measure.

The last time I measured was 4/16 (a couple days after starting JUDDD). I have lost 7 new, fresh pounds since then. But my measurements have changed WAY more than 7 lbs worth.

Bust... down .75 inches
Upper ab (a little below my bra)... down a full inch
Waist... down a full inch
Lower ab (gut)... down .75 inches

Is it SIRT 1? Was I just due for shrinkage no matter what plan I was on? Who knows, but I am ready to ride out more DDs with no losses now. OK, today is a DD and I am still hoping for one tomorrow.

I had eggs scrambled with a LF hot dog and Laughing Cow cheese for lunch and I'm about to have grilled chicken and green beans for dinner. Then I'm taking the dog for a walk to escape the after dinner munchies.

Thanks Kisha! I am pretty happy to have found something that will work for me. LC was gettting depressing by itself!

Andi-Pandi - I totally have to track my UDs! I can easily go overboard. Tracking on ****** makes me accountable and helps me realize how easily I can go over!

I have been eating what I want as long as it is in the right calorie range. I have to make good food choices along the way as well. I eat lf cottage cheese, salads w/low cal dressing, veggies, fruit, lowcarb and low cal yogurt. I think this helps me stay with the losses. However, I have had some higher carb items but track their calories as well!

My weigh day Saturday

No loss, in fact up a pound since last week, but I'm ENCOURAGED--for a few reasons:

1. This is the first time since I began JUDDD almost 5 months ago that I haven't registered a loss in my weekly weigh in. Staying on plan, even with vacations and family celebrations, has always resulted in a loss--no other plan has been this flexible in my experience.

2. I fully understand the gain. My binge on Thursday should have added at least 2 pounds. I know that controlling UDs is my challenge right now. I had been so careful and now have gotten careless. The key to UDs for me has to be planning, just like on DDs. I did that for several months, but I think the regular losses have made me complacent. So my goal for the future is to plan my UDs better.

3. After a total binge on Thursday, I was able to do a 350 cal. DD on Friday with no difficulty at all. This is amazing to me, as usually one binge will lead to at least 3-4 days of overeating. But somehow JUDDD seems to work like "muscle memory" in exercise--i.e., my body responds well to a DD when it's scheduled. This, to me, is a great benefit of JUDDD.

As I've frequently posted, JUDDD is not only enabling weight loss for me but giving me insight into my food issues. Usually, I feel incredibly depressed by a gain--which leads me to further overeating. With JUDDD, I get understanding and feel encouraged to be able to deal with the problem.

GME: That's encouraging that you're losing inches. I was a little puzzled about how my clothes were gettingn so loose but I was only showing a minimal weight loss on the scale.

Leo: I'm glad you not letting your weigh-in today get you down. It seems there wasn't enough time to recover from Thursday. I hope next week you see a loss. Sharing your determination to plan your UD's is a good message for all of us.

msgirl: Wow! You've got this plan down pat!

Trish: I hope you're having a nice vacation.

To Everyone Else: Have a great Saturday.

Leo, I'm glad that you are learning from this woe. I've found that I've learned so much also about how I eat. I think UD's would be a lot harder for me. No, I KNOW UD's would be a lot harder for me, without Fast 5. Since I only eat one meal, I can make it basically whatever I want and not suffer too badly from it. I think if I tried to eat all day and call it an UD, I would probably lose control. IDK, maybe not, but I really like Fast 5, so I'll just stick with it.

Up only 1 pound from my UD yesterday. Rings are a little tight so I know the pizza is causing some water retention. I look forward to a DD with lots of water!

So, Leisa ~ you eat within 5 hours for UD and DD? At the same time each day?

Yesterday was a DD for me, so I got on the scale this morning... UP three pounds

I can't entirely blame the DD, I didn't really make it a DD (it wasn't an UD either though, about 800 cals). I feel like I'm retaining water too.

Now I'm not sure what to do. If I do another DD today, is yesterday's MD too close to a DD (and the book says never do two in a row)?

Was it close enough to a MD that I should just do another DD? I'm thinking it was, or how could I be up so much.

Kisha: Good idea on the steak.

That's what I decided to do... but, then I was very bad and didn't stick to things after our late lunch. I had my steak and fresh green beans for late lunch. Then a bunch of family arrived and out came all sorts of other goodies and I started having "just a little" of this and that. I don't want to know what my total count for yesterday was. Probably close to a full UD. Today and tomorrow I can't imagine will be any better . It's a weekend long huge family reunion (ie. carb and calorie loaded food fest). I don't go home till next Saturday. I'm hoping I can pull off a few DD while here, but I know it will be very difficult. I just don't want to gain back all of the weight I lost

Gina: Congrats on your inches lost! That's just as nice as pounds

MsGirl: Happy one-month-verasry! Awesome job losing 14 pounds

Hi to everyone! I hope you all have a great weekend!!!
