Well, spent my DD at the hospital yesterday as my FIL had a heart attack. He is better and will be released tomorrow but being there all day really helped keep the calories in line (I'd go broke buying the things I wanted to eat!)
Leo - congrats on the being in the 220s. That is my dream as I have been stuck in the 230s for soooooo long. WTG! Leisa - YAY for you on the race! Today's UD will include taking mom out to dinner for Mother's Day so I'm hoarding all my calories today to make sure dinner's calories don't zoom out into the stratosphere. And a big WTG on those losing! I am with you - my official weigh day is Monday but this morning I was down 4 lbs for the week! I almost passed out and I won't claim it but gosh it was good to see.

I had a DD today also, but I swear it doesn't feel like it. I just finished a steak dinner and am stuffed! 1/2 of an 8 oz T Bone and a salad with about a TBLSP of raspberry vinagrette. YUMMO! I'm only at 357 calories for the night and that included an egg cream without the egg, ha! just whey protein and coffee and Almond Breeze. I'm going to have another one later tonight and that will be it. I'll finish the day at about 480calories.

Every evening when I eat this week, I find myself saying how full I feel. It makes me realize just how little food we need. Even on DD's, I'm just not feeling deprived. I think the choice of food is important. Low carb also helps tremendously. I'm learning so much about what I really need with this woe!

Hi,
I've been lurking here for awhile.. I toyed with this WOE awhile ago.. and never gave it a consistent go although I've read the book and it makes PERFECT sense to me. I have been up to 200lbs (I'm a scant 5'3) and lost a little weight on my own over time to 180 and then in January of 2007 I started LCing. In March I joined KK at 173 and it worked (I kept my cals between 800-1100) ... My lowest weight (which was June 2007 was just under 140.. I think I made it to 138 for about a day!). Since then I've struggled with maintenance and finding a lifestyle that works for me. I do a lot of exercise and often felt like strict LC zapped my energy. I also started feeling like it worked less and less well for me. I'm currently around 155lbs and would like to get back down to at least 140. So.. I started checking back to this thread and now I feel like I'm ready to commit. I'm on my 2nd DD today and so far, so good. I did a shake for breakfast and lunch was GG bran crisps with Laughing Cow light cheese and 2 slices of Trader Joe's nitrate free smoked turkey breast. I'm using ****** on my DD's and I was at 440 cals for my first one and I hope to remain under 500 for today. I look forward to getting some great ideas and inspiration from you guys... |

Hi Andi-Pandi! Welcome! I'm fairly new at this, but my story is similar to yours. Low carb for years and it was working less and less for me also. This is working miracles for me and I'm at a new low that I haven't seen in 20 years! I hope you have the same success!

Laura-
You'll see the 220s soon with JUDDD! I was stuck between 245 and 255 for about a year, up and down but no real loss despite low carb and watching calories. JUDDD has given me slow but consistent loss, and I'm ecstatic! |

Happy Mothers Day to all of the Moms here!
We don't have any family here so we're going out for a long 6 mile hike and doing a picnic. My DD got tough last night but I stuck it out. I can't wait until my official weigh in on Tuesday!!! |

I have a ? for those of you doing JUDDD and NOT LC, but who did start on LC/Atkins.
If I switch from Atkins to JUDDD and start to incorporate more carbs (not a lot, just more veggies, oatmeal and beans) without adding them slowly like with OWL, will I see that quick regain like I would otherwise? How have those of you who upped carbs on JUDDD made the transition without gaining weight? Still investigating this WOE, not sure if it's for me, but it seems that, once on maintaince, it'd be pretty easy...at my height (5'7), weight (166) and activity level (3 to 5x a week) my Up Day amount is around 2400 calories, so even losing weight and needing to lower that, my "maintainance DD" seems like it'd be between 1000-1200 calories; heck, I was eating that DAILY before lol. |

Hi guys,
Doing fairly well. Today was yesterday was an UD and didn't go too crazy w/ the calories. But my DD on Sat. was a little questionable. Question: Did you notice that your weightloss sped up after a couple of weeks of JUDDDing? The reason why I ask is that I had the most dramatic loss after my first DD and less and less the following times. Granted my last DD wasn't ideal because of eating out but I was wondering whether this was experienced by anyone else. Also on the JUDDD website, I think it talked about how it takes awhile for the SIRT1 gene to be activiated. Any thoughts/advice? OK, hope you have a good UD or DD!!

Dovelette- I went right from VLC to JUDDD with carbs on my up days. I did not see a gain at all. In fact, I was stalled for almost 4 weeks and this broke my plateau. I started with a down day. I do count my UD calories though and eat healthy carbs. Carbs have a lot of calories so if you are staying within your UD limits I think you'll find it is hard to over do it on them.

Dovelette, I ate a super clean, 1150 cal induction week, lost 4lbs.
Started Juddd, and added in some carbs (also had a couple big nights out with wine, etc) and only lost 1/2 lb. that first week of JUDDD (my plan is a tweaked version, however) Lost 2 lbs the next week, and am now losing about 1 lb a week, which is not fast, but I am okay with it. I really enjoy having a few more carbs and can work this WOE around social stuff way better. I don't feel like I am missing out on anything. As many others will attest here, when doing this plan, even if you have been low carbing, you don't seem to have the weight bounce-back so much when you do have a carby meal. |

Part of it for me is that I'm living in Cape Verde, Africa, and when I go out, I have a very difficult time finding on plan foods and also there is a TON of drinking that goes on. Now, I can stick to wine and am happy to count the calories, and I'm happy to low carb on DD too. But if I go to a festa, it's very odd if I don't drink. What IS the drinking policy on JUDDD?
Also...what is a "moderate" day? I like the idea of MWF being "down days" and TRSa being up days...what do you do on Sunday? If I know I'm going away, should I plan for just a halfway point? Or do you do a couple DDs in a row, then your up days, then back to schedule? I'm sorry if I'm asking a ton of questions, if someone would rather take me under their wing (ha ha, funny coming from Dove) and can answer me privately that would be great. Alternatively, if anyone has the book and isn't using it and would be willing to "trade" ie I could send you something cool from Cape Verde and you could send me the book (and I could easily send it back), that would be cool too. I still want to stay moderate carb, but I'm working out and lifting weights, I'd like to be able to incorporate beans and oatmeal back into my diet but not feel like I have to eat 1400 calories to lose weight, ya know? That really wasn't workin' for me! |

Dovelette, I went straight from ATkins induction that I had been on (again) for 4 months to eating carbs of all sorts doing JUDDD and combining it with FAst 5. I didn't have any gain and in fact finally broke through a plateau and am now at an all time low! I haven't read the book either, but I understand he does not recommend two DD's in a row and maybe that's what a MD is for...someone with the book can tell you. I am doing a straight UD, DD rotation but have gone off completely for a few days, gained and then lost it all very quickly. Like others are always saying, JUDDD seems to be VERY forgiving! I'm loving it.

I have posted awhile back but have been "caught up in life" and just read posts lately. Anyway, my decision is to go forward with JUDD. I used the Katch-McArdle Ideal Weight and Calorie Calculatorformula to do this and calories need for me to lose weight came in at 1050. They use height, weight, activity level for this. I have long known that I can't stay with higher calories and lose but I am always "told" that this is an unhealthy level. I will be 70 in August and my friends also have trouble losing. Today is an UD and tomorrow will cut it in half. Unfortunately my DH, who is 12 years younger, cats the whole world if he chooses and stays fit and svelt. We've all heard it before. I also eat emotionally depending on stress. I posted my plan on Jimmy Moore's Livinlowcarb and got blasted for this WOE. So we shall see if I can make any progress. I'll post as often as I can and I want to say that I am inspired by the progress many of you have made.

I know because I have PCOS and have had WLS that I need to focus on protein and low carb, but it just seems that this might be more flexible an forgiving in the long run (again especially living in Africa where I can't always turn down carbs).
Thank you guys for putting up with me LOL. I know I know, read the book...arg! |

SueZee--- welcome to JUDDING! You will most definitely NOT get blasted here by anyone. Even though many of us believe in LOWER carb, we are not rabid low carbers on this thread and I can't think of any here that do ZC. (not that there is anything wrong with it). I think the general consensus (correct me others, if I am wrong), is that we have come to this woe (or a tweaked version such as mine--do visit the tweaker thread)
because we wanted a more balanced mix of foods. I am keeping fairly low carb 60ish on up days, 20ish on downs, and love being able to eat what I would have considered a cheat before. I am not losing super fast, but a pound a week steady for 4 weeks so far. Also headed into VFT (Kisha's term for virgin fat territory ie: a new low) and I know it will be SLOW goin'. Best of luck to you and don't let hubby's diet, or lack therof get you down. |

My suggestion - truly enjoy your UDs and eat! WF and fast your DDs like you're doing, but do NOT try to tweak UDs into MDs in order to lose faster. And use one day a week as an official 'weight' day - like kisha does. Feel fre to weight every day, but only make tweaks based on the pattern of that official day.

![]() Just wanted to say, you and I are body doubles! (height weight lol) My thoughts: You will prolly experience a 'bounce' which will settle in about a week or two. After that you'll be fine. The first two weeks are hell - your DDs you'll feel super tempted and super hungry. If you perservere, it's honestly the easiest program I've ever ever done. It's nearly unconcious for me now. I'll never change WOE again. EVER. |

Happy Mothers Day JUDDDERS!!
Well, I REALLY enjoyed my UD yesterday and am up 4 lbs. after my new low yesterday. Nothing abnormal, as I usually jump up quite a bit after doing a free day. It usually comes off pretty quickly though. Today is normally a MD for me, but since I started a true rotation it's a DD, but I have not been hungry ALL day and think I am going to turn it into a WF. I didn't even have coffee this morning. I am so curious to see if the true rotation speeds up the weight loss. Welcome to all the new JUDDDERS!

Yesterday was my 2nd DD and it was MUCH easier than the first. I think this was because I ate more calories on the day in between than I did before the first DD. I am also finding today that I'm not particularly hungry. I should want to eat more.. but I'm just not interested. Does anyone else find this?

Hi everyone and Happy Mothers Day to all you moms! TOday was my UD and we ate chinese. I was so stuffed when I left but it's been a couple of hours and it's gone, ha! Tomorrow would be a DD, but I'm not sure how down it will be. We have a mother/daughter tea at 3:30 with finger sandwiches, cookies, fruit and such and I'll just make that my meal for the day. It my end up over 500 calories, but I'll just take whatever it is and let it be my DD. It really shouldn't be too bad. I expect some bloating from the MSG tonight, so who knows what my weight will do over the next few days. I won't stress. By the end of the week, I"ll be back into VFT! yeah!
