One Week Tracking
I Finally managed to track for a whole entire week... I think these ****** stats are pretty accurate. I may have missed a few hundred calories but its close:
DAILY AVERAGE FOR THE PAST SEVEN DAYS Calories 1,181 Fat 81.7 724 61 % Carbohydrate 47.8 188 16 % Dietary Fiber 7.7 Protein 69.7 283 24 % Alcohol 0.0 0 0 % Not sure what it all means? LOL. But the daily caloric average should put me at losing at least 1 LB per week which so far has been the case. |

Hey all,
DD for me and Friday's are the hardest for me for some reason. I have a chocolate peanut butter egg cream waiting for me to slurp it on down soon. I'll either have another one or maybe 1-2 lean turkey burgers for dinner. I've always wanted to do the "proper" rotation, but like many said, the DDs I have now (M-W-F) work well for me and I want to keep those. I haven't stepped on the scale since last Saturday's bummer (up a little over a pound). I'm beginning to think I need to switch plans on a monthly basis to keep losing! We'll see what tomorrow brings. Hope everyone has a great weekend ..

To try to shake things up and to make sure my body is not in starvation mode (hard to believe but it is hanging on for some reason) I have decided to go off plan for the weekend and do all UD although not like a normal UD but maybe a more MD with no DD until Monday ( that would be 4 UD in a row). I have to say I am freaked out by it and while I say I am going to do that now if I look at the scale I probably will cave and do a DD tomorrow - Sunday really will have to be an UD no matter what. ![]() Thanks again and have a great weekend. Enjoy. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Are you sure you were eating enough when you switched from "whatever" to "healthy"?... have you seen the latest weight watchers comercials? ... their whole concept right now revolves around chosing "filling foods" with high water and fiber content, that are low in calories so that you never feel hungry. Maybe by picking "healthy" foods on up days, you are unintentionally going too low in calories EVERY day not just down days??? Just wondering. Maybe try adding more fat into your up days?

As far as the TRUE UD DD rotation... I switched off of it to 3 set DD 3 set UD and 1 MD a few weeks ago. My weight loss has slowed but with my hinky metabolism I am hesitatant to assume that there is a direct correlation. If I don't show a loss this week into VFT I will probably go back to true rotation at least until my 5/21/09 long weekend vacation. Maybe not. If I can get a 1 LB per week loss on the set days with 1 MD I'm going to stick with it because it really is SO MUCH EASIER for me than true rotation was.

to eat or not to eat, ha! that IS the question. I just realized I am going to want to eat on Sunday for Mothers Day and yet as it stands, today was going to be a DD and then that would make Sunday my next DD. SO! to eat today or tomorrow and just end up with two UD's in a row either yesterday and today, or tomorrow and Sunday? THAT is the question. What would you all do?

Pushing 40
One thing to consider is a very high calorie UD. I was about 12 weeks into JUDDD with 400 cal on DD and 1200-1400 on UD, when I unintentionally had a 2800 calorie UD on a Sunday (Sat. is my weigh day). I returned to my usual calorie limits, but the following Saturday, I'd lost 2 lbs for the week, when my normal loss was about .5 a week. And I continued for a while at 1 to 1.5 lbs a week after that. I think that high calorie day pushed my body into gear:-) Kisha I have never done a true alternation (too lazy I guess), and have just kept to MWF DDs without too much difficulty. But you've always lost better than I have, so perhaps true alternation is better. If you've slowed, you might consider what I mentioned to Pushing 40 (above). Of course, my feast day could have been pure coincidence, so unless this seems likely to you, just ignore me. |

Thanks Kisha and Happy Mothers Day to you if it applies! I'm running in the 5K in the morning. My FIRST. I'm so excited! There will be free food after the race and I'm not sure I will have the control to not eat it! ugh! I don't want to undo my loss so far but then Monday is just two days away. Maybe I can fix whatever the weekend might bring. It worked with the vacation last week. I might just open my 5 hour window after the race and then not eat again until Sunday. YEah, that's a plan!

A Milestone
Today is my weigh day, and I'm down 2 whole pounds, but perhaps most important, I'm into a new decade at 228.5. I know that to many of you that's enormous, but that's my lowest weight in about 30 years, and I can finally see onderland. And for those of you who struggle with low carb, this week is also very informative. As I posted recently, for some unexplained reason, last Sunday I not only ate everything in sight, I ate HIGH carb for the first time in a very, very long time--bagels and coffee cake, and stuff like that. I was convinced that this would be the week of my gain, especially since that's a pattern for me when I get close to a breakthrough (new decade). All you low carbers know how you blow up with a big carbfest, so I was resigned to the damage. Monday, however, I went right back to DD, and immediately discovered something new. No big appetite--I had absolutely one of the easiest DDs ever. That's strange after a carbfest which usually unleashes my appetite. In fact, I initially discovered low carb (before I realized that it was truly healthy eating) when I realized how it helped me control my appetite. However, I wouldn't dare get on the scale all week, but I continued with my usual JUDDD pattern--which would normally result in about 1lb loss--if I had NOT had that black Sunday. I experienced no "cravings" or increase in appetite all week, and this morning I had this 2 lb. loss. It seems that with JUDDD, when you low carb, you don't suffer the negative effects of having a carbful day now and then. I've had a similar experience two previous times on JUDDD, but this was the first time that I was really HIGH on carbs (other times, it was mainly high calories). And all three times, I continued to lose well. Since I intend to make low carb my permanent WOE for health reasons, I'm sticking to JUDDD, too, because it makes low carb realistic--i.e., don't have to worry about special occasion carbs or vacation carbs! |

woohoo Leo! So happy for you! That's what I've realized also. I've actually completely stopped low carb, but know that it's more than likely what I need to get back to for health reasons (lots of diabetes in my family) but for the first time in FOREVER, I"m in the 120's and for me, that success right now is what I need. I feel like right now I'm having my cake and eating it too and after a 2 year struggle in the 130's, up and down, it just plain feels nice!
Ok, off to run that 5K! Go me! |

Leo: What an inspiration your journey has been to all of us. Your perserverance and determination has certainly served you well. Congrats on the weight loss and discovery that you can, if you want, have additional carbs; but I think your smart to keep the carbs in check.

Woo Hoo!!! Holy Cow! I hit my goal this week. 121.6 = VFT. I am so excited, especially since I was bummed the other day and felt stuck. I controlled my UD a little more this week and hit a new low this morning. I haven't even started the true rotation yet. I will start it tommorrow. Sunday is normally MD, but it will be DD.
![]() I am ready to hit a new decade. It's coming with JUDDD. I JUDDD.Leo- Congrats on your loss and the new low. I have to say I have had the same experience with adding in more carbs, sometimes it helps speed things along. I just have to get right back on plan.

Congrats to everyone - Leisa, Leo, Trishagrll, Nosugarshell and anyone else I may have missed!!!! I too am down from last week only .8 but that makes 13.4 lbs in 3 weeks!!! And, one of my DD turned into a MD this week! I truly expected to be up because I have been so swollen lately! I too LOVE JUDD!!! It is truly doable! Just keep telling self.....tomorrow! I haven't been LCing either - because i felt stuck~ I lowcarbed faithfully for 4 weeks and lost five pounds then gained it right back! Yes - JUDD is my answer!!! Have a great Saturday everyone! I am off to a big event at church. Last edited by msgirl; 05-09-2009 at 07:26 AM.. |

Woohoo! I'm home and I finished the race. Even got third place in my age group! Congratulations to the losers! yeah! I even managed not to eat anything this morning and only had water from the post race table that was filled with bagels, cream cheese, fruit, pound cake, yum! I'm going to have a DD for sure today, so that tomorrow will be an UD. I want to be able to eat out and enjoy!

Leisa-
I sent you a CONGRATULATIONS earlier today, but it seems to have gotten lost, so if another one appears, the problem is my ineptitude in posting. It's magnificent that you came in 3rd in your age group; I'd have settled for just finishing the race! And it's also great that you passed up all that food. My exercise physiologist friends tell me that what you really need after such exertion is mainly hydration--and then protein. So you really did the right thing for your body. As everywhere else in society, your race people seem to think that carbs are always the solution:-) |

10k would be my limit. I really have no desire to run further. As for settling for just finishing, I was there! I had no idea I would come in third and would have never even guessed it. I have a feeling there might have only been 3 or 4 of us in my age group though so that would explain it I'll find out later when they post the times on the website. I'm really just happy to have done my first one. Next time I might worry more about timing. |

DD menu:
B: ff greek yogurt, 2 oz raspberries (120) L: egg drop soup (100) D: seared tuna w/ cucumber salad and steamed asparagus (260) That puts me at right about 500 cals. Its kind of fun to come up with yummy meals for low calories. ![]() |
