Hi eveveryone!

I'm going to officially join this thread! You guys are doing awesome and I could for sure use the same rate of progress you're seeing. So today will be my first true DD! I'm a little nervous but excited to see the scale down tomorrow morning. hehe

I know that there have been several posts, but can you all give some suggestions on DD menus? I refuse to do can drinks! They just sound too artificial to me.

Here are some useful items that I've gathered so far:

- egg cream : although HWC can quite hefty on cal
- wasa crackers: (I'm keeping my carbs still very low, so I'm not sure about this...also they probably don't have this where I'm at)
- sugarless gum
- diet sodas or any other sf drinks
- veggies and fruits

any other ideas? I guess I could eat whatever in theory as long as the cals are low, but was just curious about people's routine.

oh also, Leisa's mentioned that she keeps LC especially on DDs, but more lax on UD. Is this what others do as well? I'm interested in upping my carb a little, but worried that 1. weight will go up 2. I won't be able to control my appetite (because carbs will spike up my appetite)!

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Wish me luck on my first official DD!!!

Yeah Slim! I have decided that I will eat whatever my family is eating partly to make it easy and partly to give myself the message that I'm not really "dieting" ha! Tonight I had a burger patty and salad and then had an egg cream, the dinner was about 250 cal. and the egg cream 250, so I came at or just under 500 calories. Some days I might just have the egg cream, but right now I don' t have anything real filling to put in them so I'm not.

On my first day I sipped a few cups of broth which really helped. Also a hard boiled egg (70 cals) really helped my evening go by a little easier. Good luck!

I keep forgetting that you all are not necessarily combining fast 5 with juddd, so I should have clarified that. Yes, I combine fast 5 with it so I only eat once...at dinner, on DD's it's just whatever my family is having except like tonight, I didn't eat the mashed potatoes, only burger and salad.

Hi Slim! This is my first week too and I am quite happy. This is my second DD and it hasn't been too much of a white-knuckle experience.

I'm tracking my carbs but not ambitiously limiting them. I'm just trying to not eat a bunch of junk.

Good luck!

Wow the board has been busy...that's great.

Today is a DD for me and I came in at 475 calories.

B - Protein shake
L - Steamed broccoli (2.5C), diet coke
D - Roast beef (2 oz), mashed potatoes (1/4 C), sauted mushrooms (2C), and sliced strawberries (1C)

I didn't have any problems with hunger today and that was so nice. I ordered a couple of the Biggest Loser DVDs so hope to get started exercising next week.

to the newbies.

slim, lots of us don't do shakes.
I prefer fun salads with protein: taco, greek, chefs, chopped. I make my own dressings and cut the cals by using stuff like buttermilk, vinegars, Hellmans lite (I thought I had sworn off this stuff when sticking to low carb, but it saves SO many calories and isn't too bad when mixed with other stuff.
My other fave meal this week was a flat-out wrap, toasted til crispy and topped with turkey, ham, lowfat salami (really good), lite provolone, lettuce, tomato, etc. etc., kind of like a subway, then drizzled with a low cal vinaigrette. This thing was HUGE and was a great 400 cal meal for my last two down days. I do them fast five style and save all dd cals for an early dinner.
I would love to try a water fast some day, or to try even lower cal, but with all the exercising I have been doing, I really need something to eat, even on dd's.

Get creative, add bulk with veggies, lettuce, etc. and always remember the JUDDD mantra.............................I can have it tomorrow!!!
Welcome!!!

Howdy! DD today...will end up under 400 cals. again. I lost another pound as of yesterday morning so that makes 11 lbs. in 16 days for me since I started JUDDD. I'm definitely noticing some difference in how my pants fit me.

I choke down 2 nasty shakes on my DD's and usually 2 coffees with davincis syrup and cream. I drink kind of alot of water on my DD's too. I'm kinda hungry at times but it isn't unbearable and like they say, I can always eat tomorrow!

On my DD I usually munch on a few sticks of celery and I drink loads of tea and water. I'm trying to drink 2 litres of water each day. When the rest of the family are eating I'll go off and have a lovely long soak in the bath and have an early night.

To all experiencing success with JUDDD:

On my up day yesterday I was at a restaurant and had creamed spinach and zuccini soup. Today I am going to try and make a low calorie version of that soup using low fat buttermilk and skim milk. I may use vegetable or chicken broth also. Any ideas to make this soup low cal, please let me know. Let me know what else you would put in it. This should make a nice meal for around 5PM. I'm going for a walk today also. Thank you everyone for sharing what you do for exercise. We have some real athelets among us!

Leisa- Congrats!!! That's so exciting
MikeA- That's awesome! I wish I could lose that quickly, I think we started JUDDD the same time. My weight has been jumping back and forth on the scale so much.
Slim- HI! Welcome to the group! I use nectar shakes post-workout (90 cal for one scoop) and then have started using the rest of my calories at dinner. I've experimented with various things. I've only been on this plan a week and a half.

I hope everyone else is having a great morning. I'm running to go put the finishing touches on my house before it shows. Praying this will be the last time I have to show it!

Not that I can tell... I have just been having trouble sleeping because of sick kids and a husband that is snoring like crazy lately!

Good morning!

WTG Leisa and MikeA! I hope my losses are just as wonderful but I will be happy with a general downward trend.

UD for me and I'm going to see how keeping my carbs a little lower works for me.

Slim, I have sleep problems off and on and haven't noticed anything different except, like Trish, my husband's snoring rattling the windows keeps me awake from time to time.

Have a great day all!

Cauliflour, Spinach, Zucchini Soup - Low Calaorie

I found this recipe on ***********. This looks like a good recipe for down days. I'm going to use lowfat buttermilk instead of skim milk:

Ingredients:

1 head cauliflower
1 zucchini
1 cup frozen spinach
1/2 cup onion
1 clove garlic
1 cup skim milk
2 cups vegetable broth
Black pepper to taste
Cayenne pepper to taste

Directions

Chop 1 head (approximately 4 cups) of cauliflower into florets, and one zucchini into slices. Steam these until soft. Chop 1/2 cup onion and clove garlic, sautee these together approximately 3-4 minutes until onion is soft. Cook frozen spinach according to package directions. Combine all ingredients in food processor (you may need to do in two-three batches) and blend until you get a uniform texture. Mix batches together in a large pot on low heat, stirring until they are well combined, and serve!

Number of Servings: 4

ys. Certainly looks healthy:

Good Morning Juddders!

I am trying not to get discouraged, but I am still 1 lb. above my low. I know I have had some outragous UD's and my MD's have crept up to UD's, so it's my own fault. I have stayed on track this week and am doing a TRUE rotation. I hope that breaks me through to at least 121. My DH is down another 2lbs. and that might be what is bumming me out. I mean I am happy for him, but he is doing JUDDD VERY loosely.

Ok, enough being down. I am planning on a GREAT, HEALTHY UD today!

Without the buttermilk I would guess this would be about 50 calories a cup. Buttermilk added would make an additional 30 calories a serving (4 servings total). I will probably be having a 3 cup serving 240 calories. These are low carb, low fat veggies.

The low fat buttermilk: 2 grams fat per cup, 12 gr. carbs per cup; 98 calories per cup;. (1/4 of this will go into each serving of soup)

So I think you could enjoy this if your doing low carb, low fat, low calorie. Lots of nutrition here.

Congratulations to all of you! I see some new lows, and some very impressive losses!!

I, too, have some AWESOME news! You know, I stalled for almost 2 weeks because my weekend UDs (and one of my weekday UDs) were getting out of control. I ate everything and alot of it. For 2 weeks I've been 238 (3 lbs over my siggy).

Well yesterday I did an almost TRUE fast, with the exception of some tea. I am now 233 this morning!!! I am 2 lbs under my siggy weight! I'm not changing it until my weekly weigh-in time, but I just wanted you guys to know that you can mess up and still pick yourself back up. It takes almost NO time at all to get back where you were and then some. DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED. I almost did last week and I'm so glad I didn't give up.

Even tho I already did my one-month stats, I'd like to say: April 7th to May 7th -- 14 lbs lost. Woot!!
